Are there hair dryers in the RPC rooms? Im assuming not but thought Id check :)

Just wanted to clarify that all the rooms at the GF have hair dryers not just RPC. In fact, all rooms in the deluxe resorts do. Not sure about values but I think moderates do as well.

Any news on a possible room rehab at the GF? The new rooms at the CR were wonderful.

I think I posted this in this thread already but we were in RPC a week ago and a CM at the GF (not one in RPC) told me that GF was up next for rehab.

And then I was sitting in the lounge and a GF employee was showing two women around and discussing the views, setup etc.. My overactive imagination told me they were Imagineers. Of course, maybe they were just wedding planners or something but they weren't dressed that way. :sunny:

So those are my rumors for the day. :lmao:

Glad you had fun at the CR, triplefigs. We have had a MK view from Conch Key twice that was beautiful. Of course, it is further away than the CR so I guess it depends what about the view you enjoy. My personal favorite is the view from Hawaii. :sunny:

Thanks, BCV23. Can you see the monorail well from the MK view at GF? CR is supposed to undergo a major rehab next year moving restaurants, etc. Don't know if I want to fight that, and we'd love a rehabed room at the GF!

We could see it very well from Conch Key. You can even see the monorail station at the MK.

But since we've not read anything concrete about a GF rehab, do you think any rooms would be finished in a year.....if the guy I spoke to was even accurate?

I doubt the rooms at GF would be all done, but if the CR does have a major rehab going on moving restaurants then I wouldn't want to stay there and would choose the GF again. Thanks for the info about the rooms.

GF rehab would be awesome (not that the GF isn't ALREADY awesome!) glad you had a good trip, I agree, AI wouldn't want to fight with construction if that will be going on next year at CR.

Another update on the letter I sent regarding the room condition a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I received a letter from Brian at the Executive Office and also a personal note from the GF GM (lol @ these acronyms)

Brian's letter said:

The other was a handwritten note from Kent Mitchell at the GF, apologizing for the mishaps, a very nice touch.

Just thought I would update the info for those that followed my posts and pics of the room. At this point I just want a clean room for the 1 night at Pop and a clean 1 bedroom villa at BCV. If they do anything else that would be nice, but not expected!

Karen, It was interesting to hear how this fiasco turned out. I hope they make your next stay extra special. That was very nice of Kent Mitchell to write back. I hope those housekeeping & maintenance issues at the GF get resolved.

Triplefigs - Loved the report!! What a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes My 3 kids still really LOVE the CR despite my addiction to the GF. We have years of happy memories of that place. My only real issue with the CR is the pool area. Ugh. I hate all that flat concrete. For 13 years we stayed there exclusively and NEVER once used the pool, LOL. We went in January or early March (took the kids out of school & loved that time of yr) and didn't miss a neat tropical pool area as it was too cold to swim anyway. We were park marathoners from sun up to late evening. :thumbsup2 Now, after 15 yrs of WDW trips (tons!) I really appreciate the nice pool areas & lush grounds the other resorts have.

I am back to debating RPC or GV. Last week DH said, go for it with RPC but now I got a horrible dental prognosis and it means mega bucks gone. :guilty: I don't know whether to do GV or just move to a different monorail resort so I am not missing RPC as much. For an AP rate, I could get CR GV (not really an option - if we did CR, it must be in the tower) or Poly GV......the saga continues. I'm still hanging on to RPC ressie with hope, though. :guilty: I am really feeling bad about the whole thing today.

Channing:

Sorry to hear about your dental problems. Ouch!

As you can see since I couldn't get RPC I switched the 7 nights that my DH and I will be in Disney alone over to Polynesian LVC. I know both you and I have issues with them but, it has been a couple of years since my last stay there and hopefully things have improved. So far my contact with them has been great. :thumbsup2 I have been dealing with a new person Lissette who is really nice and efficent. Maybe you would be willing to give them another try? Just a thought, but really go with your heart so you won't be let down. :sunny:

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here and am looking for fellow disneyaholics!
We have gone to Disney with Grandma, Bappa, Mom, Dad, Daughter and Uncle every year since my daughter was born in 2002. She is 3 now(turning 4 in November). We go to WDW October 11th for an EIGHT night stay at the Grand Floridian and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! :woohoo:
My son (who will be on his first vacation)will turn ONE there on the 12th and my parents will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary there on the 15th.
I'm sure someone's already answered this but anyone just get back form GF??? I'll have to go catch up on this thread that is new to me.

It's so refreshing to talk to other people who are crazy about WDW like we are. There are so many who don't understand!

I'm rambling...I apoligize. I am new to the boards and new to chat rooms so I will have to keep learning as I go...... Thanks for listening to me ramble on!

I've tried to call GF/IPO about 10 times during different times of the day and get the answering machine. I emailed 3 days ago and haven't heard a thing?!I'm trying to coordinate a surprise for my DD.Hopefully,I'll hear from them soon. Should I call the hotel and bypass the IPO number? Do you know if there's a specific person that I could ask for when I call? TIA

Where do you get that phone number? We have been dying for it. Our reservations have been screwed up and we want to make sure everything is OK before we get there plus the Anniversary and Birthday thing.

On another note (I apologize if I am already annoying) but is anyone else annoyed when they stay in Boca Chica (where we always stay) and then the tree blocks your view!!! :confused3

Hi!

We just returned from 4 nights in a LV room at the GF. We were in Boca Chica room 8511. This is a dormer facing the lagoon, but the castle is blocked by the rooms that jut out a bit. I was disappointed with the view and asked for a change, but none was available. Anyway, we had a GREAT time. Mousekeeping was great and we had nightly turndown without having to request it. We also got towel animals one day. I love, love, love the GF and next time I hope to stay in the Royal Palm Club.

Any questions, please ask!

Anne

Thanks. That happened to my parents one year but ours was OK. It is kind of a bummer when you pay for LG. I understand you are getting LG but everyone knows you want to see the castle, right!
Was there coffee in the Boca Chica lobby in the morning?
What's the Royal Palm Club?
