Irisbud, I love your pictures.

OK, I was doing a quick fix it job on my siggy and lost my pumpkin!! SO, without reading the new guidelines - which probably will go over my head anyway....it seems the pics etc have to be squished thinner???

THANKS for posting the pics of the Grand, Amy. Do you have any of your great corner room??

Happy day,
Channing :)
Channing, you have 250x600 pixel box to fit everything in now. If you make your pics shorter (less than 250 pixels), you could put stuff below. Otherwise, it has to go length-wise.

Loving all the pictures of the GF. DS has been watching Great Hotels GF with Samantha Brown all day. I am seriously thinking of ordering that chocolate box with the GF lid and the chocolates inside.

This time tomorrow we'll be at the GF. Didn't think it would happen. My mom was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer and we've considered postponing the trip since her surgery is scheduled for Oct. 30 (the day after we return). But she keeps insisting we go because it's a 50th birthday trip that's been planned for over a year for a close friend who has also been helping us to care for Mom through her recent health problems. So now I'm rushing around trying to do everything at the last minute since I didn't think we'd really go. I really shouldn't even be on these boards, just wanted to check this thread one last time for any updates. I've got to go pack!!!

Have a magical vacation. :wizard: Prayers for your mom.

Denise
, I hope Rees is doing better. I have been thinking of you all and wondering how it's going. More hugs to go around. Thanks for the computer info.....DH and I have been painting our bedroom all day - it looks awesome! I will have to get him to look at my stuff and see what he can do when he gets a chance. :goodvibes I shouldn't be here, either, but he ran out to pick up dinner. Had to sneak a quick DIS fix in.:rotfl:

Happy planning, everybody!

Do the newly refurbished rooms at GF have refrigerators in them, or does one need to be requested upon check in? I know there is a mini bar and that the key can be refused - is that correct? I don't want my 5 year old daughter going crazy and charging up $1k on soft drinks ;) I apologize if this question has been asked before, but this thread is so long I figured I would just ask.

Thank you

I just can't resist, one week from today me and family will be at GF!!! As far as I know you can refuse the key to the mini-bar, which we did last night so my snacker wouldn't go crazy.

Are coffee pots already in the room or do we need to request, I can't wait to sit outside the room, in my GF robe and sip my coffee.

The minibars have been replaced by refrigerators. No more late night snacking!;)

We had a coffee pot and and assortment of coffee and teas set up on the counter in the bathroom. Enjoy that robe and coffee!:thumbsup2

Thanks Minniesota, it's nice to have one less phone call to make this week, it seems like the week before we leave is extraordinarily busy.

Just back from 14 nights at the GF. We had refurb GV rooms in Big Pine Key at the end next to the main lobby so it was very handy for the pools/monorail etc if we used the outside stairs, we could also see the fireworks each evening from the balcony.

My parents had a new dorma room in Boca Chica but moved to Big Pine to be near us.

Sugar Loaf was still being finished when we left of Saturday but alot of furniture had been moved in and it looked like it was being restocked with linen and towels on Friday.

Overall we had a great time and almost all of the staff were friendly and we also got 5 towel animals over the stay.

The only down point was badly behaved guests at a convention last week that damaged the gardens and started having druken get togethers at the coutyard pool and outside gaspies at 2am, but security dealt with it and the convention orginisers were also informed.

:rotfl: No, I don't have any of the room! I took them all as soon as we looked at it before my dad could mess it up ;) . Dad then erased them all somehow when he decided to take some truly horrible pictures of the MNSSHP parade :confused3 !

Does anyone know when all the rooms are going to be finished?

I think it's anyone's guess but it seems as though each building is taking about a month to complete. My guess is Sugar Loaf will open the end of this month and they will work on Sago the month of Nov. Pure speculation, of course! I do know they are putting off the suites until January.

Thanks. I'm trying to decide if I want to stay a few nights here our next trip in Feb and was curious if the room would be refurbished. Looks like that may be the case.

Hi Everyone!

Well we just got back last night, and wanted to report that we did NOT get the two bedroom suite we were promised.

They did however, upgrade us our first night to the one-bedroom suite, like we had booked for our second night, so we only had to move twice during our trip instead of the 3 times we had planned.

SO..we spent the first to nights is a one-bedroom suite, and our last 4 night in a regular GV room. Both of the rooms were located in Sago with a view of the Marina.

Now, I know that Sago hasn't been renovated yet, but I was actually very happy about that. From the pictures I've seen, I really prefer the old decor to the new, so I was super happy when we opened our door and I saw my favorite fairies bedspreads, and all the beautiful blues and yellows. It's just so bright and cheerful!!

We had a fabulous stay, and EVERY cast member we encountered couldn't have been more "Disney".

On the way home I started to think about the whole upgrade thing, and I admit I did start to get a little irritated. Believe me, I know I'm definitely NOT entitled to ANY upgrade..especially one as HUGE as that, that we DID NOT pay for, BUT, they made SUCH a huge deal out of giving it to us..even saying it was a birthday gift for DD from Mickey!!

Not getting the upgrade in NO WAY ruined our trip, or even put a damper on it, but I don't think that was right.

Welcome back! Glad it was a fun time. So, what the heck happened - why didn't you get that two bedrm suite??? :guilty: How did it come about that you wound up in the one bedroom suite???? Curious minds want to know.:upsidedow

I also have a basic question.....what lounge did you have privileges to? Oooppsss...I forgot Sugar Loaf is down now anyway:confused: ....Did you make use of the RPC lounge even though you were in a diff building?? Just thinking that doesn't seem super convenient. I have been told differing things re which suites have access to which lounge or both.

Have any more GF or trip details to share?? I understand how you feel about the suite switching. Ya, you're not entitled or anything, but since you were told you would be upgraded to it and got all excited etc. you sure have a right to be a little bit disappointed IMO. :guilty: At least you did still get a suite upgrade. That's still wonderful.:) Did they do anything special for your DD's bday??

I like the cheery old room colors, too, but I think I'd like the nicer TV and IPOD dock etc. It's a trade off at this point.

TIA for any more details!:flower3:

Brier Rose - I should have asked....how was your GARDEN ROOM???? Here I am so stuck on concierge.:rotfl: :rotfl: I can't even get it out of my mind.

We booked our first ever GV for Thanksgiving so THAT is what I should really be asking about!! What building, what view, how was it??!!! So, after staying concierge was it a let down at all to move to a GV or was it just fine?? I have only stayed concierge at the GF and it is our absolute favorite concierge on property, so I am a little hesitant to get thrilled about staying GV - just thinking I'll be missing concierge too much - so I need to know.

THANKS!!

Lives4Disney :)

I've seen this question asked several times recently, but I must have missed the answer... For anyone who has recently returned, do they still have the child sized robes at the GF? If they are not available for guest use, can you buy them in one of the gift stores? Thanks!

No, sorry, there were no child-size robes. I looked at the robes in Sany Cove but I did not see any children's robes. Anyone else know if you can buy them?
