I've seen this question asked several times recently, but I must have missed the answer... For anyone who has recently returned, do they still have the child sized robes at the GF? If they are not available for guest use, can you buy them in one of the gift stores? Thanks!

THey don't have them in the rooms for kids anymore and you can't even request them. We started staying at the GF regularly about 3 yrs ago & since have not ever seen kids robes in the rooms.

I have not noticed kids robes at the gift shops either. I have seen the adult robes for sale, but not the kids. Sorry - maybe somebody knows if for sure if they do have kids robes for sale......

Did you make use of the RPC lounge even though you were in a diff building?? Just thinking that doesn't seem super convenient. I have been told differing things re which suites have access to which lounge or both.

We were in a 2-BR in Big Pine a couple of years ago and we could use either lounge. We always opted for RPC!

THANKS!! I am still shaking. DH saw it a few nts ago and wanted it but I thought naw...too much money. He was telling me to go for it so I did. At the last second I put my bid in and I won with $19 under my max. OMG. I am so thrilled. It comes with a framed matted photo of Roy holding the plaque to prove it's authenticity and it's from Surplus whatever....the Disney seller on Ebay that said it's 100% guaranteed and I know from CMs that it is what it says it is.

Can't stop shaking. I hope I don't have buyer's remorse in the morning, haha!

Not getting the upgrade in NO WAY ruined our trip, or even put a damper on it, but I don't think that was right.

Sorry for your disappointment. We obviously don't know what happened, but my guess is that they originally thought they could squeeze you into the 2 bedroom between other reservations. Perhaps the guests staying in the suite decided to stay an extra night and that was no longer an option. Disney should probably consider not informing guests of an upgrade until check-in. That way, if something does come up, there's no let down because the guest wouldn't have known what was going on behind the scenes.

Actually, I can't wait to hear your trip report after Thanksgiving. Getting your opinion on a GV stay while having the perspective of a seasoned RPC veteran. I love the GF period, and I think you will still have as great of a vacation as ever! Of course, I've never taken that elevator in the Main Building up past level 2, so I may not know what I am missing. But I have resolved to stay RPC by my 40th b-day if I do not get the opportunity before then.

YES!!! I will!!!!! I just went and did my bedtime reading to DD and I am still shaking inside....I just cannot believe it. I am a seasoned Ebayer so know the drill, had my max that I wanted to bid and at the very last second put it in and won by $19! OMG. I am freaking out here. I paid already - and of course my CC was declined, ahahaha!!! More panic. Their security of course and it's all taken care of and done. I can't wait to see it - hope it's not garbage, haha.

Brian - THANKS!! I am just beside myself. I hope this is a really good thing because it cost me more than my 10 nt Thanksgiving GF stay!!! OMG. reality. I kind of see it as a piece of awesome history, but hope it's an investment, too. I was so happy to read that you want to stay RPC for your 40th. That will be great for you. I have always had very low key bdays but figured for my 40th I wanted a wingding!!! RPC was the best thing I ever did for myself! Felt like a loser planning my own bday party, but I did it the right way. So, go for it! After I won the plaque my girls were like, maybe we shouldn't go for Thanksgiving........haha . No. We are so there!

How exciting! Just curious though...shouldn't this be hanging in the Magic Kingdom somewhere? I wonder why they had a dedication plaque made, and then didn't put it in the park? Do you have any history on the plaque? I'd be interested in learning more!

Ya, I emailed the Surplus Kingdom guy prior to bidding and he answered some of my questions....it is a one and only...no replicas were made, comes with a photo of Roy holding the plaque on dedication day that Roy himself had enlarged and framed, it's a museum quality piece of Disney memorabilia, CMs that I know that work at WDW also told me this is the real deal so I did feel comfortable buying it. The Surplus Kingdom guys are on the up and up. They have a deal with Disney to sell this type of item. They are the ones that are also selling the GF items. I will find out more, though - I agree that it should have hanging in the MK. Are they hurting for cash or what? No clue what the story is but I do want to find out more. If I do I will let you know because there must be some interesting story to this sale. I wonder if this was ever hanging in the MK and where?? The thing is 22 X 22 and handpainted wood....the photo is 18 X 22 so nice size!

I am still shaking and jittery. I need to go to bed and sleep but I am so pumped right now I can't. I keep going back to Ebay to look at it more. THey say they will only ship this overnight insured etc....so I am hoping to get it SOON!!!!

wow this thread moves quick! I come here every few days and it takes me awhile to try and catch up. I can't keep up!

Anyway, for those that have gone right after Thanksgiving for the week and have also been there closer to Christmas - is there anything not offered that early in the holiday season? I know the decorations are up but is the gingerbread house complete, roasted chestnuts, singers by the tree, availability to order christmas goodies to the room? I just don't want to expect anything and set myself for disappointment.

I would also love to hear more not so well known but fun holidays things "to see and do" at the GF. Since it is our first time at GF and the first time at the world during the holidays it is really the only thing we are focusing on.

Since we leave for GF on Saturday you know I have more questions! Is there an ATM at the hotel. Running around with two kids (one with special needs) I need to keep things very simple and try to carry as little cash as possible and put everything on my hotel key and just pay when we leave. Anyhow just need cash for tips and "little things".

I would treasure that also, but I'd also have buyer's remorse, if you paid what I think you must have for it!! My sister has friends who regularly buy Disney stuff and they just got back from picking up a couple of chairs from the outside area of Downtown Disney. They've got them in their breakfast nook. In the past they've bought banners and such, and my sister has one of the street banners hanging in her garage so she can see it when she drives up! She would have put it inside but couldn't find a place for it.
