We are booked in two connecting rooms, one of which is handicapped accessible. Does anyone know where these rooms might be or can they be anywhere?

There are accessible rooms in several buildings. We've been in Conch Key twice which I'm sure will now be MK view. We've also been in Sugar Loaf twice. This next trip our room is lagoonview...I'd rather have gardenview or Sugar Loaf but only lagoonview was available. I'm pretty sure I've been told Big Pine Key and Sago Cay have them too. And Janet2K reported on one in the main building if I recall correctly. From what I understood from talking to the front desk once about it, the rooms are scattered. From the days when you could still talk with special services, I think there aren't that many accessible rooms anyway. And from our experiences trying to book accessible rooms there, I have to agree.

Will you report on your room after your trip, please?

Anglea, I hope your wedding is perfect and here's wishing for many years of happiness. :wizard:

Michelle and Myra, have great trips as well. Just think, Misti must be there now! :sunny:

It really depends on what view you booked. If you booked a MK view, then you'll probably be in Conch Key. If you booked a garden view, you could be in just about any of the buildings.

But she's going this month and I don't think MK view kicks in until next month.

Are you aware of any particulars about accessible rooms, Anne? Which buildings, categories, etc.?

I can't believe it's finally here! We'll be checking into the Grand Floridian for the first time in 2 days! I convinced my DH to spend the night in Indy before our early morning flight on Thursday, so we're leaving tomorrow! This is my last chance to post before chaos & insanity takes over the house, and I wanted to thank everyone here for all of their help and guidance! When we get home, I promise to post lots of pictures of our Grand 1 Wishes Cruise and the Private Afternoon Tea I set up for my girls.

If you are going to be in WDW for the holidays, I hope you have a magical time! :goodvibes

Thanks again!
-Michelle

how exciting! I hope YOU have a magical time!

There are accessible rooms at almost every room type at the GF (there might some "suite types" that aren't 100% accessible, although there are some suites that are, so they are compliant. Also I do'nt think any of the dormer rooms are accessible. Also, it's one resort that for sure has fully accessible rooms with two queens and a daybed rather than just a king.

I believe that in the lodge buildings all of the accessible rooms are on the short end. Imagine the buildings to be shaped like a capital "I"--the top and bottom would be where the HA rooms are located.

If she's booked a lagoon view, she'll get a lagoon view. If she booked a garden view, she'll get a garden view. Only the LV rooms would have a MK view anyhow.

My only concern is her "guaranteed conencting room." WDW guarantees connecting rooms under only very specific circumstances, and other wise it's ony a request.

Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to my post on the previous page re: taking drinks from SL into the main building at night.

Thank you

I would imagine that as long as you put them into plastic there would be no problem.

Oh, I agree that there are accessible rooms in every category although I wouldn't be surprised if it is only one per category once the MK is added! It is very difficult getting an accessible room there in our experience much less one in the category you prefer. Just wondering if you had specific experiences.

And of course, the current lagoon view could have either a MK view ...or not. ;)

We had guaranteed connecting rooms as well with one being accessible. And that accessible one did not have a daybed, just a loveseat. That pair of room is on the 3rd floor, middle of the building, marina view in Sugar Loaf. So they're not all on the ends and of course all the buildings don't even have that end part. :confused3 The CM at the front desk marked which buildings had accessible rooms years ago for us and at least one building did not.

Minnie my my please do post your experience and I'll post our next one as well. We have lagoon view too.

Oh, and we did book gardenview last January and were bumped to that great view in Conch Key which really surprised me on two notes. First, we never get upgrades ;) and secondly since special needs "locks" the reservation, I didn't think it was even possible. A great surprise! :cool1:

Who is going to the GF next and when? I need a little favor/help! Thanks!

OK, now I am curious (er)!! :teeth: What's up?? :confused3 Are you planning a GF stay??

Channing :) :dogdance:

No, a friend (DISer) is checking in Friday and her mom died last night. We're trying to set up a big surprise. I hope she's not reading this! GF IPO is helping me plan. Any suggestions? We have around $150.

Thanks for the info everyone. I had heard that accessible rooms were limited at GF that is why I was questioning where we might end up. Our rooms are guaranteed connecting due to the circumstances of my DM who is travelling with us. She has her own room and originally her caregiver was coming too. But her caregiver had to cancel and that means its just me to take care of her and my own family. Anyway, guest relations really went to work on our reservation and were able to guarantee our request. I didn't request a view, I figured the type of room was more important than what it faced so here's hoping we don't look at the dumpster (are there even dumpsters allowed on GF property?) or the parking lot.

I arrive next friday so if I can be of help let me know.

the parking lot is accross the street from the buildings mainly the garden view is looking out to the grounds or the marina pools and walk ways. we had booked garden view in august and had a view of narccossees the walk way and the lagoon. hope you have a great trip!
