The *New* Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Frequently Asked Questions (FEB2004) Part 2

My mother and sister love Disney as much as I do. My husband doesn't get to go down as often we do because of work. He does get to go a couple of times a year though. We just take shorter trips throughout the year instead of one long trip each year. We will be home in time for Christmas eve and Christmas. I couldn't leave him that long at a time.

I can't wait!

Well, I got the pictures back this morning, and not only are they terrible, over half of them didn't develop! I will post what I have, even the bad ones, but know that the do absolutely no justice to this beautiful room. All I had to take pics with were disposables as my mem. card got scratched. Most of the pictures that turned out were from the master suite which was through a doorway with sheer lace curtains off to the right of the green and salmon marble entry way that was flanked by two large columns. The master suite consisted of three rooms: a bedroom with a king bed and ample sitting are, a huge marble bathroom with heat lamps over the jacuzzi and shower and tons of towels, and a giant walk-in closet with a steamer and two absolutly fabulous robes, all of which were connected by a long hall way. The middle of the suite consisted of the foyer, a coat closet, a large half bath, a dining room, a desk are/workspace, a wet bar, and the living room area, that had a great entertainment center, tons of personal effects, and a bose sound system. Off to the left of the foyer through another set of lace curtained doors was the second bedroom which was obviously designed with children in mind. This third of the suite had a large closet with full length mirrors in the hall, a full bath with a tub/shower combination and sink area, and a room with two twin sleigh beds, its own armoire and TV, and a small reading area. All three areas of the suite had access to a full balcony that overlooked the quiet pool and hot tub area, as well as the nearby garden area.

On our last morning in the suite I decided that I had serious need of a Mickey waffle, and ordered room service for breakfast without telling my boyfriend. The last time I ordered RS (when my dad and I stayed in a standard GV room) they simply knocked on the door and gave it to me. This time, the man who brought it (I forgot his name as well, I feel so awful) was so enthusiastic about setting everything up for me that I just had to let him. He came in and put down a table cloth, placed and unwrapped all of the food, and gave my BF the morning paper. All of the condiments were in cute little jars, including the catsup and a miniature salt and pepper shaker set. The food was great, though I think my BF was embarrassed to have still been in his sleep clothes.

Again, I apologize for the quality of these pictures, especially considering that I was taking them with posting on DIS in mind. I figure that I would rather have bad pictures than not have the special memories that having been in this suite helped create for me and my BF, who just may be a Disney convert now.

Here is a link to my pictures. They are really really bad, and many did not develop at all, but enjoy what you can, and I apologize again for the lack of quality:

I hope all of you that are going soon have a fabulous time.

I can't wait to go back. I think I am an RPC convert for life now! I know this was a once in a lifetime dream upgrade, but it made me a believer! :wizard:

Thank you for posting the pictures, irisbud. I enjoyed looking at them and thinking about our upcoming trip. That was an amazing upgrade. I'm glad you enjoyed the RPC so much.

Are the sinks seperate from the toilet and shower? When we stayed in the RPC the sinks were seperate. That's very important with dh. It was difficult staying at the CR with the sinks being in with the shower. It took the family longer to get ready that way. There are certain things that I loved about the CR but we're ready to get back to the GF. party:

Yes, the vanities are separate from the toilet/tub area.

Happy Planning! :goodvibes

Howdy all you GF lovers!
What is the best rate any of you have gotten for the GF and how did you get it....code,AAA,Fl residents discount?
We are going to WDW Jan 08, I would love to stay at the GF. We will be there for 10 nights, so w/ out a discount it just won't be affordable for us.

For our last trip we got POFQ for $88 a night, so paying $350 plus makes me cringe a bit!

My latest search for a good rate was for my upcoming stay, checking in 12/19 (value season) and the best I could do was an AP rate of about $337/nt (includes taxes) - it was about $2700 for an 8 nt stay in a GV room. I could have booked a Poly GV room for about $2100 for the same 8 nt stay. AAA rates are usually very close to AP discounts, so that's another route to try if AP is not available.

Good luck!

PS...I am the mother to a "Lulu" - love your user name. ;)

lulugirl, the best rate I have ever gotten was for 4 nights in the SL building for $1,018, and that was including the tax. I got that rate with a code I found over the internet. I do believe it was a once in a lifetime rate! The best way a get my rates now is with a AAA card, it is one of the best ways to go.

Good luck! :)

It seems like every time I try to book a RPC or SL room with a AAA rate, they always say that it's not available with the AAA rates. :confused3 And I always book a year in advance! Has anyone else experienced this, too?

I just booked 4 nts RPC for next August with a $96/nt AAA discount ($640-96=$544/nt). AP discounts are usually $75-85 off/nt, so I'm very happy with this discount. What time of the year do you try to book?

We always go during Thanksgiving time.

Our trips usually fall during the second half of August which is a pretty slow time. You would think booking a year in advance that the discount would be available pretty much any time unless it's a blackout date. I hope you have better luck in the future - every little bit helps, right?! :wizard:

Wondering if anyone has done an in room massage? We are staying over at the Poly next trip and I was thinking it would be a nice surprise birthday gift for my dh...............................................

Angela! I hope your wedding is beautiful - it sounds like it will be just lovely. :wizard:

We will be around that afternoon (If we go ahead and cancel the CP like I expect we will) and will keep an eye out for you! I am sure our paths will cross in the lounge, too. :)

Have a wonderful wonderful celebration. :goodvibes Congratulations! :grouphug:

Get some sleep!!!!

Hi Folks

We shall be staying at Sugar Loaf next June for 2 nights and I was wondering is it ok to take your drinks in the evening which are supplied (liquers etc) into the main building to listen to the music and enjoy the atmosphere? We have been to Orlando many times (live in Northern Ireland) however although we have accommodation already we are spending 2 nights here as a treat. Any views would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance

I can't believe it's finally here! We'll be checking into the Grand Floridian for the first time in 2 days! I convinced my DH to spend the night in Indy before our early morning flight on Thursday, so we're leaving tomorrow! This is my last chance to post before chaos & insanity takes over the house, and I wanted to thank everyone here for all of their help and guidance! When we get home, I promise to post lots of pictures of our Grand 1 Wishes Cruise and the Private Afternoon Tea I set up for my girls.

If you are going to be in WDW for the holidays, I hope you have a magical time! :goodvibes

Thanks again!
-Michelle
