Aw, I'm sorry! That really stinks. Here's hoping you get a magical upgrade to something that you really like!

P.S. We've stayed in a standard garden room before and while I admit the view is usually really important to me, looking out on the parking lot didn't bother me that much. Maybe because there was no balcony to sit out on? Anyway, I hope you still have a wonderful stay at the CR!

I am sorry this has happened to you. Also do you happen to have a confirmation which says you had a reservation for a Garden Wing Garden View, before it got switched to the Standard Garden Wing View? Maybe you can show it to the Cast Member when you check-in at the Contemporary they can do something about it.

We are currently booked in the garden view garden wing for September. I wanted the standard view but it was sold out. I noticed some of you saying the standard view is fine and not worth upgrading. Should I keep checking back to try to change it? Is it really not worth the mony to pay for the garden view? Are both room types pretty close to the pool?

I'm so mad!!! When we made the reservation the CM promised we had a Garden wing-garden view.

I read my reservation today again and it says garden wing-standard view!!!!!!

I called and we have been charged for a standard view and it didn't say garden view and I had asked specifically not to have parking lots or anything.

Anyone got a picture of what a standard view is??

When are you going? We're going Apr 1-8. I have a garden/garden, but am fine with a standard view if I'm paying less. When I booked my reservation, there was no option for a garden/standard... there could be others in the same boat as me....

Anyway- if you're there at the same time, maybe we can figure out a way to switch???

We're going July 19 to August 2. It's ok. We'll get what we'll get, and that's that We are there for the parks..not to sleep hehehe

Pool update:

As I type this, there are workers in the pool cleaning it. They are also cleaning the slide thoroughly. The whirlpool is still skanky-looking. They were power-washing the deck yesterday. That's all I know, and no CM will commit to an opening date.

Is there water in the pool? I'm guessing no, since you said the workers were IN the pool, but just for clarification...if the pool is still drained, it will probably still be awhile before it opens...

Bummer, since I'll be there in 8 days, and was hoping it would be open.

Since i posted the above, The pool has re-opened! There are people on of and the slide is operational. The stand-alone whirlpool is still down, the whole area still has the fence up (access to the pool area is from the beach side), and it looks like they still need to do some landscaping.

that's exactly what i was going to ask!

i say, from here on out, we refer to the contemporary pool simply as "the pool that's better than the Poly's volcano pool" or TPTBTTPVP for short...

EDIT - So can I assume the kids splash/fountain play area and lush palm tree landscaping have been shelved to a later date? Did the pool deck even get re-surfaced or did they just close the pool down for a couple weeks to clean it? D@mn those CM's and their "it'll be better than the volcano pool" promises!!

I assume they will continue with the construction of the kid's play area and the "lush landscaping" that was "promised by the CM's. " They can continue that while the main pool is up and operational. Planting some trees is easy to do, and the kid's splash area can be put up with a small fenced in area away from the main pool as well. Let's just hope these projects don't go by the wayside, as the CR's pool DOES need more than cleaning and some lame pay cabanas set up by the lake side pool...
