Basically- if I bring back leftovers and keep them in the fridge, I want to know if I can warm it up to eat the next day.

Thanks!

Yup! We had one brought to our room in December. It was very handy to have

WOW!! I never knew that!!!!!! :thumbsup2

If I request a microwave, they'll bring one to my room? Even if I'm not on the 'special' floors?

I second this question. Is it really ok to call down to the desk and request that somebody haul up a microwave to your room??? It would be weird enough just making the call for one :rotfl:

Maybe one's best bet is just to smuggle all leftovers down to the contmpo cafe and heat them up stealthy ninja style?

Of course it's okay. It's offered on the WDW reservation website as something that can be requested. Why would it not be okay if it's a service they offer? :confused3

They'll set it up on the little counter above the refrigerator.

We've had them bring microwaves to us at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and the CR. Only at the CR were we staying club level, but you can definitely get them (as long as they're available) in any room there, club level or not. :)

We had the turndown service the last time we stayed there, we were in the Atrium Club so I don't know if that made a difference :confused3

Was there an extra charge to have the microwave? If so how much??

Turn Down service on the Atrium Club is included so you don't need to request it. Now it's great when they replace the used towels, however if we happen to be in the room when they knocked on the door we just asked for some extra ones and nothing else. Of course the nights we were not there the housekeeper also fixed the bed, closed the blinds, turned on some of the lights, took out the garbage and turned the TV onto channel 18.

Hey guys - just wanted to post an update. I was in Orlando this weekend and got a chance to swing by the Contemporary to check it out before my family's April/May trip.

Visited around 2 pm on Sunday, March 1st. The main pool is completely drained with a barrier surrounding it. While I was there, I didn't see anyone working on it. It appears they are re-surfacing the pool and doing some paint work. Hard to tell if they're making any other changes/additions, but if they really are going to be finished in 2 weeks (Mar 15), I'd be surprised if it's anything more than re-surfacing, paint work and adding the cabanas. I've read multiple reports of a kids splash/play area w/ fountains, but I couldn't locate anything resembling that. I'm still holding out hope that something like this will be added, as my 2 year-old would undoubtedly love it.

From the outside, Bay Lake Tower is starting to look like a finished building. It certainly changes the landscape of the monorail resort area as you circle around seven seas lagoon, as it commands attention.

Happy to say the resort looks great. I've never stayed @ the Contemporary before and haven't been inside the resort since our last WDW trip ('04 - WL) when we ate at Chef Mickey's. Still, I made a "blind" reservation knowing that, for us, the proximity to the Magic Kingdom w/ a 2 year-old was more important than anything else. My little visit made me feel good about our decision, as the resort looks great. I do have to admit, though - the Poly was looking sharp too!

We have an upcoming trip with a toddler (22 months) and were wondering where would be the best place to put the pack and play for naps/sleep time. We're worried about getting him to go to sleep with us being in the same room. Maybe we'll have to hang out in the bathroom for a while. :confused3 Wondered if there was room between the bed and the window (assuming we get a two queen bed room), but it doesn't look like there is. Just thought maybe someone had been in this situation before. Any suggestions would be great.

There is a little bit of room between the bed and window, but I do not think there is enough room for the PnP. We used to shove ours between the beds so we could keep an eye on our dd3, or keep it at the foot of the beds. There is also room by the daybed. Or..if you felt comfortable, get a bed rail and let them sleep on the daybed. My dd10 always sleeps there and is very comfortable.

Thank you so much for posting this update.

you're welcome, cr fan!

davidanddenise - w/ two queens, it appears the only spots for a pack'n'play are either near the foot of the beds (next to the daybed) or between the beds. w/ a king bed, i think there might be enough room between the bed & balcony door, but not w/ 2 queens.

as for the "what do we do while our toddler is napping?" question, my wife and i have been considering the same thing for our upcoming trip with our 2 year-old. here are a few of our ideas:

1) have a few cocktails out on the balcony
2) do laundry (draw straws for who does laundry and who stays in the room)
3) take turns touring the resort, doing some shopping, etc.
4) quietly watch tv (bring laptop or dvd player w/ headphones)
5) play cards, read, etc.
6) enjoy each other's company in the physical sense....very quietly
7) take a nap, too!

Hence the question. I didn't know they offered this service.

I had a dream last night that the contemporary mural was replaced with glass and you can see the whole concourse from the elevator that would be so cool

IT MOST CERTAINLY WOULD NOT!!!!!

They've made far too many changes to the Concourse for my taste -- removing the mural would be the last straw.
