Question? Does anyone know the name of a good towncar service. We are going to use the express to arrive at Contemporary. However, we need one to leave.

We were planning to spend our last day at AK, then get a towncar to Hyatt at aiport, spend the night and fly out the next morning. It's a lot cheaper than spending the night at Contemporary plus we won't have to get as early in the morning which is a big plus for our family of night owls

Hey y'all. Not worth fighting over.:flower3:
We don't want this thread to get all CONFLICT ridden like the GF thread gets sometimes :scared: ...

No fighting on my part. :confused3 Just honestly not understanding why it was still a question when it had obviously been answered. ;)

Not trying to hijack or anything, but when I saw the post, I thought the person was saying that he/she did not know that you could REQUEST a microwave (as in, the ability to REQUEST a microwave being the "service that Disney provided" was being referenced). I did not notice anywhere that you could request a microwave for your room on the reservation. I've actually never heard that this is possible either, in 15+ visits to WDW staying on property.

I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on the matter. When I read those posts, *I* assumed the "service" being discussed was the ability to request a microwave prior to arriving at the resort, NOT the ability for Disney to bring a microwave to your room once you have already arrived...

Okay, before anyone else thinks this is turning into some kind of a loony microwave drama ;), please let me clarify! :goodvibes

My point was simply that Disney advertises on their reservation site that a microwave can be requested for the room at most of the deluxe resorts and that we've availed ourselves of that service several times at different resorts (even before it was listed on the site). I don't think it's something that can be requested at the time of reservation (like a room location request, for example), but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Each resort only has a limited number of microwaves. This last time at the CR, we couldn't get one the first night, but they said one would be available the next day, and it was. :) There's no extra cost; you just should consider tipping the CM who delivers it.

And if anyone feels "funny" or "weird" requesting one for their personal, in-room use, they of course should feel free to ignore all of this info and just use the one in the food court. :hippie:

I love that lil guy. :lovestruc

does anyone know if microwaves are available at the contemporary?

There are microwaves in the suites - However If I can remember correctly, there was a microwave in Tempo Grab & Go, but that's no longer at the resort. I think there is one in Contempo Café, which is located on the Concourse level.

Have the rooms and suites on the 14th floor been renovated to match the other rooms throughout the resort? I recently saw some photos of those suites and they look horribly dated; I much prefer the decor of the renovated rooms.

When we stayed in a one bedroom suite last year, it had not been renovated. We'll be staying in a suite again this year and it never occurred to me to ask. I'm thinking probably not, but I guess I'll find out when we arrive.

The rooms up there only got a minior renovation, so they look nothing like the other rooms in the Tower and Garden Wing.

Those rooms on the 14th floors WERE renovated. Did you all see what the rooms looked like PRIOR to the renovation of 2006? With all the colors and such?

The rooms on the 14th floor received new soft furnishings (bed linens, towels, wallpaper, carpets, etc.) and SOME new furniture. The only thing they didn't refurbish fully were the bathrooms and the bed headboards.

If you want to see what the rooms looked like PRE 2006, Allears has some photos in their archives in the Contemporary Resort facts page...

And, just FYI, whenever they renovate entire resorts, they NEVER make the suites look the same as the rest of the resort "standard rooms". The suites ALWAYS have higher quality furnishings in them, better linens, bedding, etc. That is why they don't "match" the rest of the rooms. They are not meant to. This is because the suites command a much higher price tag, and so they don't utilize the same mass produced stuff they used in all the other rooms.

Is that true for the 12th floor too? or have those been renovated?
The rooms on the 12th floor look exactly like the other regular floors in the Tower and the Garden Wing roms. Also like I said before the 14th floor rooms got a minor or different renovation, however it was nothing like the rooms on all the other floors.

I understand that, but the suites still look as tacky as they did pre-"renovation." :-P

Do you have any pics of the 14th floor or a link? I have stayed in the Atrium Club and am now curious about the Tower Club. Thanks!:)
Here is a link to the Contemporary fan site that has pictures of the Tower Club lounge, plus some pictures of the Presidental Suite and Vice Presidental Suite.
