Denise,
I forgot to ask will you also be taking pictures of the renovation process of the Sundries store, until it re-opens as the Fantasia Market?

hey all:wave2: looking forward to returning to the CR...squeezed the 25% off 3 night Platinum Pkg:cheer2: in the middle of our trip, so excited have never experienced any of the tours, Cirque, etc.

anyway, since i figured we wouldn't be in the room much (and the upgrade to MK view was well over $500), settled for what i'm told is:

"Garden Wing, Garden View"?

We tend to retire early so i wanted to specifically avoid the rooms fronting the canal where the boats travel to WL, etc.; so i requested a

"non-water" room

I don't see it on my email confirmation i got today, nor a bed type:confused3

any suggestions for getting a 'quiet' room

i was told by WDTCo that even the parking lot rooms have a view of 'gardens'

any suggestions most appreciated

I might be wrong but I think requests are not printed on the confirmations, however it's in their system and hopefully you will be able to get it. Also another tip is not mention your requests at check-in so they might help.

'is to mention' or 'is to not mention'

im thinking 'mention' (i do always ask when checking in anywhere as to location as to floor, view, etc., easier to 'fix' things before ur up in the room as i believe they would then have housekeeping 'turn it over' once u enter it if u decide it's not acceptable?)

i recall in the past reading of people emailing their resort a day or so before they arrive as to their 'requests' is this still a common practice?

Has anyone seen any pictures of the refurbishment of the pool? I'm excited to see what it is going to look like! I found this info about the plans for it on wdwmagic.com, but no "artist rendering" type pics anywhere.

The main pool is set to get new landscaping, and a new state-of-the-art water play area. The area will incluide water fountains, similar to those found at Epcot, that are arranged in a grid and can create an ever-changing water maze. Some other interactive water features will also be added to the area, including a water gun type game.

For the adults and families, new cabanas will be available for guests to rent to use as their own private area around the pool.

I would call back and change the request to a "QUIET ROOM". I have always had very good luck with this type of request. The room assignors are pretty good about putting you in a remote room, away from elevators, maid service areas, rooms that are subject to outside noise, etc. If you request a "non water" room, you are REALLY limiting them, as most of the garden wing, garden view rooms have a view of SOME sort of water, be it Bay Lake, the canal, or the pool. The won't know what to do if you request that.

The problem with the Garden Wing, Garden View rooms is that they are ALL the wing rooms, EXCEPT for the ones fronting the parking lot (those are Garden Wing, Standard View rooms, a cheaper booking category). Your room could face: Bay Lake, the canal, the pool, or a little courtyard.

By requesting a "Quiet Room", you will probably be put facing the large courtyard, or Bay Lake. However, be aware that these rooms are at the ends of the Wing, and require a longer walk to the tower. But, if quiet is really that important to you, it should not be a problem.

I believe you meant to say people faxing their requests and if so I read that WDW does not accept those anymore when it comes to room requests.

I need to be at the Grand Floridian marina at 9:30 for their Pirate Adventure. Trying to figure out when to leave the Contemporary (I'm staying in the Garden Wing).

Touring plans is reportig that the Outer Rim lounge reopened yesterday at the Contemporary. There're a few pics up. It really looks nice.

I would be on the Monorail for 8:30 because who knows how long the line might be to get on and the Monorail will also stop at the TTC and Polynesian before arriving, so it would be at least 10 minutes or more until you arrive at the Grand Floridian.

The Outer Rim is done, and was supposed to be open yesterday. Here is a photo:

My site is having problems adding photos, but that should be fixed next week. (it is too bad, I had parade photos/video that I posted to other sites and Kim Possible waiting too). But I do plan to continue the CR pics inside and out. I had some nice video shot also from a pontoon boat of the BLT a couple of weeks ago that was posted on a friends site plus YouTube - you can probably just search Youtube for Contemporary pontoon - I don't know how to do video on mine. :)

There was a lot of different work in the CR being done yesterday, including at Chef Mickeys. I saw it from the monorail on the way to the MK for the parade, and a friend of mine thought I was crazy for running to the CR to get photos first. (they think noone is interested!)

Are there auxiliary ports on the TV in the room that we can connect our portable DVD player to?
