I changed dates and resorts for my upcoming trip. I will now be in CR garden wing--standard view. Does every standard view room face the parking lot? Does anyone have pics of their view from the standard? Also, how far of a walk is it to the main building/monorail? How long of a walk is it to the MK using the walkway? I would appreciate any other info that someone can offer! thanks :goodvibes :woohoo: :yay:

I meant to say: I will NOW be in garden wing-standard view! ooppss:confused3

I just saw the edit button so I edited my original post--i would delete this one if I knew how! lol

I put up some pictures in May (post 703) if you want to look. Here is the Link.

The walk is not far at all, 5 minutes or less to the Tower and 7 or so to the monorail. The length obviously depends upon the location of your room in the GW. 6108 (the one I stayed in) was the furthest from the tower and it never seemed to be too long a walk at all.

I can't say how the walk would be from your specific room in the Garden Wing, however I would say jcb is correct that it's 5 minutes or less to the 1st floor of the Tower and the same to the Monorail station. I have done the walk to the South Garden Wing just to see it for myself since I was wanted to know.

I gotta say I'm not all that thrilled with the way the rooms look.

They're alright. But, they look kind of...I dunno, 'plastic' to me, if that makes any sense.

And that dining table looks like something in an RV. Not that there's anything wrong with RV's, mind you, it's just the way it struck me.

Still, I'm *very* interested in getting in on this while the 'pickins' are good.

Sadly, I know next to nothing about the DVC, and how to buy points. :confused3

I guess now is the time to learn.

While I love the current decor of the CR rooms, the BLT rooms look a little too retro mod and like someone else before me said, "plastic". I am not impressed. Yes, BLT will have some amazing views and be most convenient, but the interior of the room does nothing for me. I wouldn't rush right out to buy DVC for the room interiors. lol

Our initial reaction to the decor: DH liked it, but it threw me. I do like the nod to the old Contemporary decor, such as the drapes, the wall art, the lighting, and the bathroom sinks. It just needs to be drawn together better.

I like that there's more storage and drawer space.

At first I didn't like the headboard in the master bedroom at all, but after looking at it in various photos I begin to see the suggestion of the A-frame tower.

I love the artwork. It reminds me of the colorful prints that used to be in the rooms of the CR. They had something like a Small World theme to go along with the mural in the Concourse and made the atmosphere more "Disney". I hope they don't change that.

Love the kitchen. Love the ambient lighting, the pull-out pantry (perfect for short-term storage), love the wood, love the walk-through lay-out to ease congestion (as opposed to other DVC lay-outs). Not crazy about stainless steel appliances, but I can live with it for a week!

Just my $.02.

Nope!

There are only one fifth or fourth of the rooms facing the parking lot in the South garden wing. Most face the garden or the bay. I loved staying in my ground floor room with the patio. We could see Bay lake from there and watch the water parade.

In my last post I only answered one of the questions about the location. The walk is not long, never timed it. As for the other questions, I think other people answered them better than me. :goodvibes

I see you just returned. Any word on the opening date of the quick service restraunt? TIA :goodvibes

I did not see anything posted on the Contempo Cafe, last week, for when it opens. I'm wondering too, all I have read on the board is it opens soon.

I agree, my first feeling on the layout was like a big RV, or maybe a wider Fort Wilderness layout (can you say "mobile home"?) It does feel a little disjointed to me, not as organic and flowing in its design as I would like. But I do like the dark woods with pops of color, and a fairly good textural mix. I actually prefer the refurb'd Caontemporary resort room decor over the BLT rooms--there is something a little softer in the former, and a little...yes...plastic...in this one.

Just returned from the CR and it was another great stay. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last week. I only have positives to report. Every cast member we encountered was very friendly. We had a MK view room on the 9th floor. Saturday night we were able to watch the American Pyro. Assoc. incredible fireworks show. Wishes started shortly after. The CR is a lot of fun! :)
