Has anyone ever had any luck snagging an AP discount on a Tower room?

I know we probably wouldn't be able to get the discount for
Dec.30th - Jan.1st..but I was wondering if it might be possible for the rest of our stay.

It's been SO long since we've stayed at the Contemporary that we got a discount on our last stay with the Magic Kingdom Gold Club!!

Does anybody remember that?? It was so awesome! I still have my little luggage tag..mini-binder..and membership card.

I would imagine any rooms at the CR (or other hotels) that offer views of FW will have been booked mths in advance for NYE. But I DO remember talking w/ a gal who had 30% off CR Tower (not sure if it was bay or MK) w/ a VISA disc that was announced before the general public code was made available.

I already have our rooms booked..so we're good to go there.

In the past..(not on NYE) we have always just booked our room and then called when the AP rates were released for our time period, and had our rate adjusted.

We've always had lots of luck doing this with GF,BC,WL,and AKL, but have just never tried it with the Contemporary.

Plus..it's usually earlier in the month..so not right in the actual holiday time frame.

I figured we'd have to pay rack rate.

Does anyone know what will replace the outer rim? I still can't believe it's going away!! My family and I love sitting there and looking at the view.

Thanks! Funny thing...I never mentioned how much I wanted to stay here to anyone in the family as I feltit was just so much $$. Then when we began planning this next trip my ds8 asked if we could stay at the CR as he wanted to stay where the Monorail went through the hotel and where Chef Mickey's was just steps away. My dd5 echoed his sentiments. So, after securing AAA rates, I brought it up to dh and we've decided to keep quiet about it and surprise the kids! They know I'm trying to get 2N there.....but I keep telling them I can't get it. Which was true for quite a while. I couldn't snag AAA Tower park view for the longest time! I can't wait until we pull up front of the CR and they realize that's our hotel!!!!!

That sounds like a very cute story because it all started with your kids who wanted to stay there.

Someone else mentioned that they heard the Outer Rim might be moving a few feet to where they have the Tempo Grab & Go location is.

It's been rumoured that it's going to move to the Tempo Grab & Go location on the 4th floor after they close it.

Oh please - say it isn't so!!!!! It's the only bar at Disney World that I really go to. I love sitting there and looking out at Bay Lake and then turning to see a monorail go thru! Hope that it's only a rumor.

I was not really thinking about where the Tempo location was - just that it was moving!!! So it should still have the same views - yes?

If it did move there yes you would still have the same views of Bay Lake.

Unfortunately, I had to downgrade from the CL room I originally booked to the Bay Lake view in the tower. The AP rate for the BL view is 334 while the Atrium Club with AP discount is 484. There are no rooms available with the AP rate with the MK view.

Well there is nothing wrong with the Bay Lake View, so have a great time staying there.

I'm with eeyoresnr,when are your dates for travel teacher5? When we booked with DU, I got standard atrium level for 1099 for 2 nights on Sept 5-7th. I thought that was pretty good. I don't know what kind of a discount that is, but I have an AP and AAA and Disney Visa. Don't know which one she used.

I think it's every night, or close to it. This past week it started at 9pm. They set up a blow-up screen on the beach and you can see it from the pool. Lots of people put lounge chairs on the beach to watch it.

We saw Finding Nemo one night and I noticed they were showing Lilo and Stitch another night.
