does anyone know whether the Outer Rim will remain open now that the Wave has its own lounge? I'm curious.

Crfan4life - Thank you, from the pictures it was hard to tell the # of draws (you said 6 - thanks - even 5 would do our family) in the dresser - or even where the dresser is located. :rotfl:

You're welcome and just so you know they are located by the table where the computer is, so you won't be able to miss them.

Has anyone shipped themselves a box of snacks or bottled water to the CR. I was thinking where we will not have a car I would ship water/snacks ahead of time. Anything special I should put on the box? Also, if anyone has done this did you ever have any trouble with getting your package once you got to CR?

How many draws in the dressser of the standard CR room ?
thanks !

There are two very long drawers in the "dresser" next to the computer. It's not really a dresser, just a couple of drawers with a marble top that seems to just continue the computer desk. I'm sitting next to it right now!

There are two more drawers in one of the closets. They are not very big.

Drawer space was a big issue for us this week. I have stuff sitting on surfaces all over the place.

I'm on my way home tomorrow and will post a review when I get back.

We got back from a short post-cruise stay last week (and I'm finally getting around to catching up here!).

The GF is our favorite Disney resort, but we were very impressed with the Contemporary. We even liked it better than the GF in many ways.

So, we booked a Bay Lake View room back in March for this short stay (two nights...enough for a P&PP and Epcot) and while my mom was checking us in, I went to go get our P&PP tickets. We headed upstairs to find out we had the last room in the hallway. Great, right? Last thing you want after a long night is to walk to the end of the hallway.

I started talking to my sister about what I hoped our view would be and she goes "Ummm Nicole? Bay Lake is on THAT side." As in the other side of the hotel. Surely we couldn't have been upgraded. So, we got to our room at the way end of the hallway.

Naturally, I was super eager to get onto the balcony and check out our possible view (I still wasn't convinced...my sister was still laughing at me). And the keys didn't work. So, naturally we were convinced it was a mistake.

Nope.

They just forgot to activate the keys.

This is what convinced me we were not facing Bay Lake

Yep. Definitely not Bay Lake. And all the sudden, being in the last room in the hallway was the best room in the resort. Last room in the hallway = closest to MK.

But the best part of the resort? We were at WDW for two days before our seven-night cruise and our last night of vacation, the day we went to Epcot, we ended up skipping out on Illuminations because we were all so tired (I haven't seen Illuminations since 2001 despite going to Epcot on three or four separate trips since then...I'll make it back soon :) ). But the Contemporary pipes in music on one of the TV channels and instead of Illuminations, we saw this. I'd argue it was much more magical from the comfort of your own balcony while you are in your jammies.

We're headed back to the GF in August, but I'm itching to get back to the Contemporary.

Wow. I love those pictures. What a great view! I am so glad you mentioned about the music being played on the tv b/c I wondered about that.

We are leaving next month for CR and I was just able to add an extra night! We have a MK view room & really looking forward to it. We are planning on taking it easy & enjoying the resort, Chef Mickey's, Wave, etc & a couple trips over to MK & DTD. At this time, we are not planning to go to any other parks.

Can anyone suggest any activities around the resort? As far as the movies that are offered outside, what days are those?

Wow, thanks for the pics. DW has no idea we'll be staying at CR with MK view in December. I think she'll be very happily surprised. Can't wait!

The pics certainly are great...but I have to say, the castle looks so far away to the "naked" eye. I've already been fretting about the extra money we're paying for our MK view for 2nites. If I switch to bayview it seems a much better view...but of course then you can't watch the FW from your room. Is there a lounge somewhere, not conceirge, where you could go to view the FW? Can someone please post pics or a link where there are pics from that side of the tower? I just look at the increase in our mthly utilities and I'm having such a hard time justifying my dream of MK tower view at the CR. Anyone have any other pics of this view or comments comparing the 2????? Thank you!!!!!!

I've really been contemplating whether to try squeezing our whole family in at Contemporary or not - we'd need to use a travel crib for the youngest but I'm SO tempted to do it, even with the tight quarters (there will be 6 of us, with the baby)...

At the north end of the CR, on the fourth floor (same floor at Chef Mickey's), there is an outside viewing area where they play wishes and you can easily see the fireworks. Anyone can use it. Here is a picture from the 6th floor stairway which is directly above the fourth floor area. (I walked up there to take this photograph above the monorail line.)

Here are main difference between the Magic Kingdom view from your room and from the 4th floor observation deck. From your room it's going be a lot more private so only with family members. From the 4th floor there will be a lot of people out there watching the fireworks since it's a public location, so if you want a good spot it's best to get there early.
