The Kingdom Tower! That sounds awesome. Points are going to be VERY pricey. Can't wait til its done. I'm dying to see what its going to look like all finished.

Hey..I may not be a veteran yet but I know better then to call a cast member who works at CRO! :rotfl: I got that information from the Contemporary! You can get the Mugs at The Tempo and fill them at The Tempo..They now have a fountain dispenser for soda!!!! as well, as coffee and tea.
joenan, thank you sooooooooooo much:cheer2:
You have no idea how you made my day:banana:

Hi Guys! :wave2: This is a great thread. I am about halfway through it. Thanks for sharing all your advice and photos!

I am planning on our first ever WDW trip. At first, we were going to stay at one of the epcot hotels (since the kids are older and I thought they would like to stay closer). Well, I had mutiny on my hands. They want to stay as close to the MK as possible, so that means at one of the monorail resorts. It looks like their favorites are GF and CR. Gosh, when did my kids get opinions? What is up with that? :lmao:

So, I guess I need to start narrowing it down.
One question is which pool is "better"? The CR or the GF?

The photos of the CR remind me of the "W" hotels. Is that an accurate assesment?

Thanks so much!

congrats on your first trip! As far as pools, the GF has a quiet pool and the feature/lagoon pool with a waterfall, zero entry, slide, splash area for little one (pop jets) and the pool. It is very nice. The CR's pool also has a small quiet pool by the marina. The main pool has a spray feature and a great slide. It doesn't have a zero entry. It is a little more "plain", but it is a great pool too.

And I would say your description of the rooms like a "W" hotel is very accurate. But the hotel is not stuffy and very kid friendly! The CR has a much better game room than the GF which might be important to your older kids.

Well, I'm glad your considering the CR because its such a great resort. And yes, it is SO close to MK. It's just a 7-8 minute walk from the tower. The pools are just pools really. I wouldn't consider either of their pools amazing. That award goes to Stormalong Bay at the YC/BC. It's practically a mini water park. But anyway, the CR is not a W hotel. Yes, a lot of people say that, but only people that haven't stayed there. When you enter the 4th floor, you'll see a monorail, a mural, space mountain from one of the huge a-framed windows, Chef Mickey's, and in some spots a great view of Bay Lake. You would never find these at a W hotel. When I first stayed here, I didn't know what to expect really, but it was an amazing experience. Looking down into the 4th seeing all the people, then stepping in my room and seeing Wishes or the Electrical Water Parade were just amazing. But even if you don't choose the CR, you can't go wrong with any of Disney's deluxe resorts.

Pete

Thanks so much!!! I think that we might need to do rock, paper, scissors.

Denise (Mousesteps) just emailed me, and she has even more pictures for us including the Salon and Fitness Center. I will try to get them added to the first page today.

That's great! You and CR Fan should be commended on the excellent job you've done on starting this new thread!:thanks:

Maybe we can ask Denise to take some pics of the Tempo Grab & Go on her next visit to the CR? I'm interested to know if they really are selling refillable mugs as has been reported.

Besides the differences others have told you about the Contemporary and Grand Floridian, here is another thing to think about. With the Contemporary you have the walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary is the next stop on the Resort Monorail if you choose not use the walkway. Now even though the Magic Kingdom is the next stop on the Monorail when leaving the Grand Floridian, when taking the Monorail back there you need to go threw the Contemporary, TTC and the Polynesian before arriving. They also have a boat which does directly to there from the Magic Kingdom but I say the Monorail is faster no matter what, because it will come a lot faster if you were to just miss the boat.

You are welcome..I try to post accurate information and I double checked with two people from the CR..I am staying at The CR, as well, in August so I was happy to gather the information ;)

Thanks for all the info! Tonight I am going to look at the resteraunts in each of the resorts. Maybe that will help "tip the scale" :rotfl: in one direction or the other.

Some pics from the other day (I was asked to post some), I covered the Fantasia store opening for my site.

Does anyone know the codes they use for the room types? I thought I saw them somewhere, but now I can't find them. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Also right now I can not pull up my ressie on the website, I have send them an email asking them to help me. Does anyone else have trouble with that?
