They aren't really that far from the main building, but far enought that they seem removed from the rest of the resort.

Our room last year had a door to the next room, we didn't need it though.

Enjoy - don't worry and relax, you'll be in Disney World!

Checked out the first page for updates, but did not see my question mentioned. Heard that the CR pool will be closed for awhile this winter and CR guests may use the Poly pool - anyone else heard this or have any info?

TIA! :flower3:

Here is a thread which talks about the pool renovation and being able to use the one at the Polynesian if you want to swim. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1948227

Has anyone tried the coffee at 'Contemporary Grounds' ?

And if so, how was it ? What kinds did they have, etc.

It would be nice not to have to go over to The Poly for a decent cup of java. ;)

I liked the coffee. Not "Starbucks burnt" but not "Dunkin Donuts weak". It was good.

Someone please refresh my memory if the bar by Chef Mickeys is open now. Also what time is the pool quick service open until?

We will arrive at the CR around 7:30pm Wednesday and trying to figure out where we could get a quick dinner.

Are we permitted to go up to the Calli Grill for drinks and fireworks?

Sorry, I know some of these topics have been covered but I can't remember :goodvibes

The Outer Rim Lounge by Chef Mickey's was closed, although you could try the bar lounge inside The Wave. The hours for the Sand Bar are never set because I have read that it varies with the pool hours. Finally you need to ask at the California Grill check-in desk on the 2nd floor if your able to go up to the bar, so If they have room then they should say it's ok.

We stayed at the Contemporary from Sept. 16 through Sept. 21st. This was the first deluxe resort we'd ever stayed at.

I surprised myself by loving the Resort. I didn't think I'd like the more modern decor but I liked the decor, the space in the room and even enjoyed the pool. I didn't like the bathroom sinks or Tempo Grab and Go but that'll be replaced soon at least. I only used the computer in the room to double check our charges each day.

I used one sink for all the bathroom supplies since reaching under the sinks for stuff got old really quick.

DH didn't like the Resort as much and that was a surprise since I thought he'd love it. He didn't like the decor at all. I wonder if part of the reason why was because we weren't in the main building and he was disappointed. I'd booked us garden wing, garden view since we didn't have the budget for the main building. The walk to the main building was less than 5 minutes from our room. The kids loved the resort and the pool.

We took the boat from WL to the Contemporary after supper at Whispering Canyon one day and it was soooo relaxing.

Walking to MK was the best! And I adored catching the monorail at the resort. It was fun. One morning I sat for 2 hours on the 4th floor viewing deck watching the monorails come and go and enjoying the the view while everyone else slept in.

Chef Mickey's was fun to eat at but the food wasn't that great so I don't know that we'd go out of our way to eat there but since we were right at the resort it was an easy breakfast. The Characters were great.

I'd stay there again if I could talk DH into it.

I seen somewhere in the forums a link to the menu at The Sand Bar, but can't find it now. Can someone post the link again?

You're welcome.

Just finished "catching up" on your great thread. Told you last night how much I have learned but I thought I would reiterate it. You have done a great job! I did think that by the time I got this far there would be some "finish" to the EM counter service/menu/opening. :snail: I am subscribing so I know I will know as soon as you do!:rotfl:

Thanks for the info! We are leaving soon & are happy to report when we get back as well.
Quick question - can you take the boat from the CR to Whispering Canyon as easy as you took it on the way back to CR? And is it an easy walk to MK (we will have small kids in tow)! lol TIA!
