Pixar hotel or BW Park Place Inn across the street?

I'd advocate for you to stay at a place like the Alpine Inn or the various other hotels around the hub and save $100+ a night compared to the BW.
Just an FYI, that is a walk that seems to get longer each time you make it, especially on top of all of the walking you do within the parks. I stayed at the Castle Inn last year with friends and our room was at the very back of the motel. We ended up ubering back from DL once because one of my friends just couldn't manage any more walking. Since we were splitting the cost 4 ways and none of us has to pinch pennies, I didn't really get why we did that, but I don't want to do it again.

edited to add that we're all in our 50s-60s.

Thank you everyone for your replies so far. No doubt PP is a lovely hotel. I'm not sure what I'll do until 2026 reservations open up. I just called and was told typically they open the end of August. I can't stand the wait, I'm so impatient. It's been over 20 years since I stayed there, and I forgot how long the walk is. My family always gets a 3 day park hopper ticket. At the end of every trip, especially the last night, I'm ready to chop my feet off, lol. We'll see what happens.
Park vue inn is also right at the crosswalk and they just refreshed their rooms in June. They have a variety of suites that sleep 6. Totally understand wanting to chop your feet off!

I’ve stayed both on and off-site many times but at this point in the game it is difficult for me to justify the DL hotel prices given the paltry 30 minutes of early entry. The walk to Disneyland from the 10-12 hotels across the street on Harbor is actually shorter than the walk from DLH or PP. Disney also needs to keep the Pixar Pier entrance open for EE and until the parks close for me to justify the cost of Pixar Place. GCH and west DTD security lines are also a deterrent to staying on-site.
The PP gate was open for EE when we've stayed before... do you have to use the GC entrance for EE at DCA now?

I agree. I always want to stay on-site at DLH because it's so magical, but then I come to my senses. I stay across the street at Tropicana (next to BWPPI) for 1/4 the cost, substantially closer proximity, and a multi-room suite overlooking the parks with a fireworks view.
Are there specific rooms you request at the Tropicana to get a view? I really appreciate a good view and the one time I stayed at the PP, we did it just because we wanted the great view they have over the park in some of those rooms. Otherwise, I was unimpressed. The PP just felt like a very average hotel that had a bunch of Disney stuff slapped on it to me. I know others like it and will probably disagree.

It depends on many factors besides the main one--money. There are those perks and intagibles that appeal to some and are unimportant to others. For instance, I love the open spaces and various amenities in the Disney hotels. Those are of little interest to others. I love the pool areas at the GCH and DLH because it feels like a resort and not a motel, but I've never used the Pixar pool so don't know about that one. I love having lobbies and shops and restaurants and beautiful landscaping, but I realize that doesn't mean much to some people.
Yes, this! I mainly think of EE as being the main benefit, but since they changed that to 30 minutes, it's not nearly as much of a perk. The times we've stayed offsite, doing an opposite day strategy was not much different. Walking into the DLH or the GCH, you just feel like you've arrived! We also love the pools at the DLH and the GCH and usually rent a cabana. We also didn't use the pool at the PP, although we did go up and take a look at it. Love the little walkway from the parks around the back of the DLH, and being right there at Trader Sam's in the evening. I'd say staying at a Disney hotel feels more vacation-like to me, versus staying offsite felt more like regular life but having a lot of fun. But definitely more affordable!

Now I'm convincing myself to stay onsite again

I’m a Disneyland neophyte, but we are looking at doing a milestone birthday trip there in spring.

Could someone be kind enough to mark up a map to show what the walk is from this hotel up to security?

I've stayed at Park Vue Inn once and liked it. The only downside is the 2 bedroom suites only have one bathroom. Depending on who I'm traveling with, I prefer my own.

We used to always stay at the BWPPI. (We've stayed on site a couple of times, but really haven't found it to be worth it at DLR - unlike WDW where it is essential IMO). But then we tried the BWPPI's sister hotel which is a few doors down - the BW Anaheim Inn, and loved it. It is usually cheaper, the breakfast area is better, and the rooms have more storage options. Walk wise (which is our main consideration for where we stay) it is very similar.

Oh I get it. We stay in Garden Grove and Uber back and forth. Even with the Uber rides, we are saving money and most importantly, steps. Divorce is on the line if the route I pick is not the most efficient.

Have you ever tried the Anaheim Majestic? I stayed there about a year and a half ago with a friend. She loves it. It used to be a Sheraton and it has seen better days in terms of being dated, but it does have its own (free) bus over to DL. It's a full-service hotel but not exactly a Hyatt. The price is relatively reasonable though. https://majesticgardenhotel.com/blog/celebrating-50-years-of-anaheim-majestic-garden-hotel/

While fortunate to be able to stay at the Grand and at Pixar many times, I just dont see myself spending the money to do so anymore. is it nice? yes but I can use the money spent to come back another time
