The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

We were at CBR Sept 20-28th and we personally did not get sick. We were in Jamaica 41. However, :furious:bbnghnnnnn:drive::drive::drive::moped::moped::moped::moped::moped::firefight:firefight:clown:pixiedust::beach::coffee::beach::happytv::happytv::happytv::happytv:I saw one little guy get sick at the food court and another little girl get sick just before we all got on Magical Express to come home. :scared: I have to admit, I held my breath as long and often as possible while on that bus and the second we got off we all washed our hands!

I think it is just the time of year (kiddos back at school) and now trying to contain it at the resorts. All it takes is one or two families to bring it on property and it is going to spread like wildfire. Think of all the people on and off the same buses all day.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Once all of the kids get back in school and after school daycare, they get what I call the "daycare snots" (or worse). I don't blame you one bit for holding your breath and washing the hands!;)

Oh Heavens, please ignore all the emoticons in my last post! I walked away from the computer for a second to check the banana bread and my five year old went click happy!

My apologies!

:rotfl2: That was hilarious! :lmao: Thank your five year old for me! I needed a smile today.

I read on the Pop Warner web site today that CBR will be a Pop Warner host resort, along with CSR, the All Stars, and Pop Century for the week of 12/6-12/13.

Anyone else a little surprised by CBR? I know they've stayed in the past, but considering some rooms will be out of inventory with the refurb and that fact that some rooms are brand new (we all know Pop Warner is rough on the rooms), I'm surprised they put them up there. They used to stay at POR, but POR was dropped the year they did POR refurbs and they were never picked back up.

I just switched our 2 room reservation from POP to CBR for 11/29-12/6 (3 adults, 3 kids). It is our first trip to Disney in 3 years (for some in our party- first trip ever, and others- first trip in about 20 years). It is also our first time staying at a Moderate. I'm very excited- kids are excited about the beaches and pool. I requested specific buildings in Aruba or Jamaica, connected rooms, with murphy beds if possible- and I'm hoping for some pixie dust. We will be in the parks a lot during our stay so one of my concerns was the mixed reviews of the busses but we will have a car, so if the busses don't seem to be what we need, we can just drive... Dining reservations and fastpasses are set. Now just to sit back and let the next 2 months go by :)

We just got back. Despite the very rainy weather, we had a great time. We had requested either Aruba or Jamaica way back in April. When we checked in, they had us in Barbados. After talking with the CM for a while, she made a call and got us into Jamaica 42, second floor with a courtyard view. The CM was surprised that we knew all about the renovated rooms.

Our room was great. We had one of the cute Murphy beds in our room, which our daughter used as a "clubhouse" to play in with her stuffed animals. We had a good mouse keeper the first couple of days who made our daughter towel animals and moved her stuffed animals around the room. She must have left or gotten too busy the following days because after that, they never moved. Our daughter kept racing back to the room each night to see if they had moved. I had to be a little creative at night and move them around myself.

The kids' area of the pool was closed for renovation, but our daughter had a ball playing in the regular pool and doing the slides. She thought she was such a big kid going down the slides. She loved the games they played at the pool as well.

We ate at the food court a couple times. My daughter enjoyed the pizza the most. We prefer the POR food court because of the made to order pasta, but the food was good at CBR.

We had the best luck with the buses going to the parks. We never waited more than two minutes for a bus the entire trip. We got really lucky!

This was my daughter's first time at CBR, and she loved it. We all really enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

And after reading all these posts about illnesses, I guess we should be really happy that we only had to deal with rain and all of us stayed healthy.

I wondered if you could request a building? But from the looks of it that would be yes. Which is better Barbados or Aruba?

Does anyone know the phone number for the bounce back offer? We didn't receive anything in our packets

as stated, ext. 8844.

but funny story.. I was anxiously awaiting to see the bounce back offer.( last spring we booked POR with the bounceback.. but switched to CBR for "free" dining.)

our DVC friend couldn't try to book for us until the day we checked in at universal (their 7 month out day). and we weren't at CBR until the 19th. I didn't see anything on the table like always!!! later I found out the stuck the bounceback in the middle of that welcome packet lol I never ead that anymore (that'll teach me)

but until I found that out, I called Front desk. the lady I talke to INSISTED disney hasn't done bounce bakc for MONTHS!!! even maybe a year! "we don't do that anymore" she kept insisting.

lol I assured her that my dis frineds had actually posted pictures of the bounceback from their trip, through 2014. that is was for free dining.. and I was hoping by the time I got there there would be a room only offer.

and she kept insisting there WAS NO bounceback... I finally told her I was going to hang up and talk to someone who knew what they were talking about and please sto giving false info to guests.

the next person correctly informed me and gave me the extension #.

as always, if you think a CM is wrong about some info, you could be right. try again!!!

(one year the dancing fountain in future world at epcot was closed for refurb. on our way out I aksed a CVM if she knew when the fountain would reopen.. her response: "what fountain?" :rotfl: (I've got a lot more, but you get the point.. call back and talk to someone more informed if you think they're wrong or they can't help you)

Ugh. All this talk of sickness makes me want to cancel my reservations. I go in 2 weeks, and now I'm terrified!

we were ther from sept 19 throguh sept 27 and neither of us got sick at all.

Checking in tomorrow:goodvibes:. We are so excited. After reading about the illness, I'm a little less excited. We'll Lysol and Clorox wipe, like everyone else. Quick question: we are driving and I have a small surprise for my dds in one of the suitcases. Is there a way to delay their entry into the room, something to distract them with or something the can investigate or look at, so I can set the bag up? I don't know the layout of the resort so I'm in need of suggestions. Thanks.

There are small playgrounds in each village. If there is another adult with you you could let your son play for a few minutes. Cute idea : )

Weird question here (well my family tells me I'M weird so perhaps it's a "normal" question for me :rotfl2:)

The "glasses" that are (probably) supplied in the bathroom .. are they plastic or glass?? I will need to drink milk every morning and really don't care for plastic (see told you I'm weird!). If need be I'll pop a "real" glass in my bag -- no fear i will cushion it in bubble wrap, I'm not dumb AND weird!! :lmao:

There are both styrofoam and glass glasses in the room. The "real" glass glasses are by the ice bucket and the styrofoam were placed in the bathroom/sink area. Not a dumb or weird question at all.

Completely normal! Milk out of a plastic cup is no good ;)
