We had 6 rooms from 9/20-9/28. Lots of colds. One couple both had vomiting on their last day here. No one else seems to have had problems. Food poisoning or something like, are what we think it.

We originally thought ours was food poisoning too, but my mom and husband are both violently throwing up and they both ate at different restaurants. You guys are lucky it only hit 2 of you!

I gave up on trying to sleep and am now searching our cupboards for Lysol to spray down our room when we get there. If not, we will for sure be stopping at CVS for some as well as a few more bottles of hand sanitizer for good measure.

I'm sure the management is aware of this situation? You'd think they'd be bleaching the place down!

Oh well, I am going to try my hardest to not let this bring down my trip I've been planning for 6 months.

Eeeessshhh!!!! I'm so sorry so many people are sick there!

I got a cold and my baby got one too but that's all.

Wow, we still have about 6 weeks so I hope they get this "bug" under control soon- I'm so sorry for anyone whose vacation has been effected by this.

Has to Be a stomach bug from possible food poisoning. The only other thing that comes on that fast is the flu. Food at the resort??? I'll be stopping today to get some Lysol to go bottles and wipes. I'll do a nice spray and quick clean of the room friday when we check in. Stomach bugs usually last 1-3 days. But you're only usually down for the count for a day.

Pack extra hand sanitizer too everyone!!! This is a very "sick" time of year regardless.

Ps. So for the magical express. Just have my magic bands out and ready to go at mco? And they'll read then and we board to head to the resort? Always a fear something will go wrong and they won't be able to locate all my reservations and such. Ah pre trip anxiety ;)

Just have your MB handy. I put mine on once the plane arrived at the gate. The other time I put it on outside the Earport store at MCO. ME will scan the band three times prior to boarding the bus.

Ya, I am curious how Disney is handling all the buggies? Those who have been sick, have you reported it to Front Desk or anything? Hoping they are using some extra scrubbing! DD got her flu shot last week- trying to get ours before we go too. But, with what sounds like is going on- pool water or food to strike everyone so violently and so fast!! I feel so bad for those affected. No one wants to spend vacation sick. Sending healing vibes!!

I can see the food possibly being the cause of the tummy issues, but not the pink eye - unless it is Worschester Sauce used as embalming fluid, in which case THAT does cause pink eye...and zombies :) (a South Park reference for those over 60).

If it was food born, then our normal routine won't help us, but what we always do is start taking an immune booster suppliment (with zinc and C) about a month before to make sure we are ready to fight off the small bugs we might pick up that would dampen the trip...start early so we don't have something hit before we leave...the two day car trip would really stink if someone was sick.

We stayed at CBR two years ago and also just recently. Two years ago myself, my husband and my mother all got the stomach bug. It came on suddenly (and I mean suddenly, my husband had to practically carry me out of epcot!) and lasted about 24hrs (longer for my mother). Both ends. Terrible. I got it on our last day and when we requested a later check out we were told that something was going around. This year no one got sick - but I literally heard others being sick and heard stories of families getting sick. It's not food poisoning. That's what we thought it was when my mom got sick, but then it moved onto my husband and then me. And then we were told that others were getting sick. This trip I was obsessive with cleaning and hand washing. I made everyone use hand wipes after every ride and before every meal. A lot of it was probably also luck. It sucks getting sick on vacation, but at least it was a 'quick' bug. Disney needs to do a better job cleaning, especially between guests. Google it, there are posts all over the internet about people getting the stomach bug at Disney. It's like any close quarters - schools, college campuses, etc. I hope no one gets sick. Everyone should just call and request super deep cleaning. And then clean it yourself as well.

The same thing happened at the All Star resorts in February. Tons of people coming down with a 24-36 hour bug over the course of a couple of weeks. Disney does need to clean thoroughly, but sometimes that's not enough when people are interacting and so close together! :crazy2:

So sorry to hear that people are coming down with stomach issues (and pink eye) while at the CBR. For what it's worth, I've read about the stomach bug on other resort and threads as well. Guess it's that time of year again. :crazy2:

I hope that Disney is doing all that they can to keep the germs at bay but I suspect that it's quite tough.

For all who are traveling to the World soon, keep those disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer handy!

I was wondering, since we are staying at CBR, do we have the freedom to go explore other on premise resorts? I wanted to take my son over to the Cars area at Hollywood studios ( oops, I mean Art Of Animation ) and didn't know if we would be able to hop in the car and drive over to check it out.

10 more days and we will be there!! :cool1:

Thank you all so much for your responses!

My travel agent told me to call Disney Guest Relations to tell them about what happened (stomach bugs and pink eye). They sent me over to Guest Claims. They asked me who was involved and what they had. They said a claim number will be emailed to me and then they would see what they could do for me. We lost out on our airfare and then had to incur the cost of rental car plus gas to drive almost 18 hours home. I'm not sure what they will do, but I also called the resort to let them know so maybe they can do some deep cleaning (especially of our room).

I'm assuming you meant Art of Animation resort and not Hollywood Studios. Yes, you certainly can check out other resorts while you're there! Just tell the gate guard you are there to check out the resort!

Two of my family became infected by the stomach bug while at Port Orleans Riverside in March of this year. As soon as my son showed symptoms I began regular doses (periodic doses as indicated on the bottles) of Advil, Tylenol, and Gravol (Canadian version of Dramamine). As a result, while my stomach felt off for about a day and a half, I was saved from the worst of the torturous symptoms of that virus. If I had waited until I began to throw up to take the medication, it would be too late as the medication would have made it into my bloodstream: I would have just thrown it up.

Disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer and soap are only minimally effective against the stomach bug which is most likely the Norovirus. Heat or chlorine/bleach will kill it.
