The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

My travel agent told me to call Disney Guest Relations to tell them about what happened (stomach bugs and pink eye). They sent me over to Guest Claims. They asked me who was involved and what they had. They said a claim number will be emailed to me and then they would see what they could do for me. We lost out on our airfare and then had to incur the cost of rental car plus gas to drive almost 18 hours home. I'm not sure what they will do, but I also called the resort to let them know so maybe they can do some deep cleaning (especially of our room).

Hope that Disney Guest Claims follows up with you! It's a pain in the rear to be sick at any time but even worse when you are at Disney.

Thank you. It really is a shame, we had such a nice time before the illnesses started. We had to cancel breakfast at Ohana. :( It stinks that it put a damper on our good time and nice memories. At least it was towards the end of the trip.

I was reading all of your comments yesterday on your journey home. I'm glad you were finally able to make it, so sorry you all got sick with such a long way from home too. Glad to hear that Guest Relations was willing to listen. Just curious though, why did you have to drive home, were you not allowed to fly due to the pink eye?

You aren't supposed to fly if you have a contagious illness. If someone noticed that the kids had pink eye, we may have been removed from the flight. We didn't want to take the chance because we both had to be back to work today. I read some horror stories online about plans being held so that people with pink eye could be evaluated by the airline doctor and if they had it, they had to be removed from the plane. I got a really good deal on our airfare (only $90 total one way for all 5 of us), so it wasn't like we were going to be out of a ton of money. The airline said they would credit the $90 to our next flight with a Doctors note, so we can do that too. Plus, I'd feel bad if people on the plane got sick b/c of us.

I didn't know that. You learn something new everyday. That was a great deal for airfare and nice of the airline to work with you. I bet you are all so exhausted today. Hope everyone is feeling better soon! Sending well wishes :)

I've never heard that either. There's no way I would drive instead of fly because of pink eye. I would be the crazy lady you see on the news being dragged away from the airport after causing a disturbance. :rotfl:

LOL, in hindsight I wish we would have tried to board the plane. We probably would have spread less germs than we did driving. We had to make lots of bathroom stops for the kids.

We liked Caribbean Beach. Fireworks were great, we watched Illuminations from the Jamaica Beach every night. Even though the resort was at capacity, it really didn't feel like it was crowded. I loved the smell they pump into the Custom House (reminds me of the Polynesian, which currently has no smell with the renovations). I think we might try POR next time, just to try something different.

Ours was a quick 24-36 hour deal too. DH slept mostly through his. My was aggravated by dehydration not caused by vomiting. I'm just a bad hydrator. :sad2:

I probably would advise some clorox or other bleach type wipes, just to be on the safe side.

Smidgy - well, dern it, I wish I had said hi to y'all then. I did see the bandage on Nebo's leg, just had to shake my head.

I am scared now with all of the illness! I hope everyone made sure guest services know! Sounds like it hit a lot of people! We arrive Sat! Wondering what I can do to boost immune system!

We were at CBR Sept 20-28th and we personally did not get sick. We were in Jamaica 41. However, :furious:bbnghnnnnn:drive::drive::drive::moped::moped::moped::moped::moped::firefight:firefight:clown:pixiedust::beach::coffee::beach::happytv::happytv::happytv::happytv:I saw one little guy get sick at the food court and another little girl get sick just before we all got on Magical Express to come home. :scared: I have to admit, I held my breath as long and often as possible while on that bus and the second we got off we all washed our hands!

I think it is just the time of year (kiddos back at school) and now trying to contain it at the resorts. All it takes is one or two families to bring it on property and it is going to spread like wildfire. Think of all the people on and off the same buses all day.

Oh Heavens, please ignore all the emoticons in my last post! I walked away from the computer for a second to check the banana bread and my five year old went click happy!

My apologies!

LOL - that is too funny!!

Yes, please let guest services know. I'm not sure if they will do anything for you personally, but you would at least think they would try to disinfect the resort better. I called 407-934-7639, they first said I had to write a letter or email but then connected me to the CBR manager and then to Guest Claims.

I am so sorry that so many of you got sick on your vacations :(

We have another 3 weeks before we are there but now I'm paranoid! I will definitely be bringing disinfectant wipes, Lysol, hand sanitizer, and probably even some of those hospital type masks. Think that'll keep us safe? :thumbsup2

I hope you all feel better soon :goodvibes

Lol. Now that brought a well needed smile to my day. Thank the little guy for me!:rotfl2:
