I asked WDW reservations and they said there are trundle beds in the Mansions section also :confused3 . If we have to stay at AB what would be a good choice for convenience to pool, food court, and bus. Thank you so much

AFAIK, there are not trundles in Magnolia Bend. The cast member might have been misinformed unless those trundles were very recently added.

I would probably request building 5 or 6 for a nice view...

Those would be great choices... if they were staying at French Quarter. :) :) At Riverside, any of the river views are lovely, especially from Alligator Bayou 14 or 27 and Parterre Place or Oak Manor. But apart from a few parking lot views at the outer edges, Riverside really doesn't have many bad views - even the basic garden views are very pleasant.

Sorry, the reservations CM was mistaken, there are NO trundle beds in the Magnolia Bend (mansions) section. You can ask for a roll-away bed though, but they are just fold-up beds on wheels and can take up quite a bit of space during the daytime.

:rotfl: Must have had FQ on the brain today!! :rotfl:

If this 'ole brain had been working correctly,I would have suggested exactly the same POR buildings! ::yes::

We stayed at building 14 last year and have again requested it for this years trip in May. It was close to everything. We have our own car, so never used the buses. I think AB building 14 is the way to go:thumbsup2

OK DISERS YA ALL SOLD ME.

First time we are staying at the POR this June.:woohoo:

 This will be our first stay at POR..only one night...but I am EXCITED!!!

Now to get reading thru this LONG thread!!popcorn::

Just switched from ASMovies to POR June 24-July 1!! This will be our first time staying at the resort. We are really looking forward to it!!:yay: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Hi all, my family and I are considering changing from an offsite condo to POR for our June vacation. The main thing I would like to know is how long would be "too long" for my family of 5 in an AB room. I realize this varies from family to family, but I would just like some opinions from those who have stayed with 5 before. We will be spending most of our time in the parks and have never stayed onsite before. Thanks!!

As you say, it's a very personal thing. Depends a lot on the ages of the kids - if you've got two stressed adults and three moody teens, I'd say about 20 minutes... :)

We regularly stay with three adults and one 8-year-old girl for two weeks with absolutely no problems. The resort is big enough and feels safe enough to make it easy to split up and do seperate activities sometimes, which really helps.

Well, it's 3:00a.m. here and I finally did it! It's official, we will be staying at POR for 9 nights in June!! Our 1st stay onsite and our 2nd trip as a family!! I am so sleepy, yet so excited..lol! It looks like you guys have alot of information to offer me over the next few weeks! I can't wait to get started learning about POR!!!!

We stay at POR for most of our trips. We are in the 2 adults and 3 moody teenage girls stage of our life and have stayed for 10 nights. I find that it is difficult no matter what the size of the room to stay with 3 moody teens!:rotfl2: We don't really spend much time in the room though and it really does work out fine! My girls like POR so much that they put up with each other. The biggest problem we have is that they shop alot and there are bags all over the place. SInce magical express has come into being we don't rent a car anymore so can't store their things there!

We will be there June 27th - July 6th. When are you arriving? You will be so happy there. Have you ever stayed on site....warning once you stay on site they've got you. We always stayed off site until 1995. Haven't been offsite since!:thumbsup2

Enjoy your stay! It is a nice resort.

We stayed here in Sept for 8 nights. There were 5 of us, (DH, myself, 2 moody teenage girls 14 & 15, and a 5 yo). We did fine. We are staying again for our trip in Dec.

Ah, as I'm the only male amongst three females on our trips, I know exactly what you mean! LOL

Those tall beds are really handy though, you can slide a lot of shopping bags underneath them...

Thanks for all of your replies! I'm sure we will love it...and no we have never stayed onsite. Our kids missed alot of school due to the ice storms here, so when we needed to change our vacation dates around, we finally just decided to try onsite because of the 4/3 deal. Now, I'm off to make a new ticker!

Hello all! We will be staying at POR for the first time 4/29-5/4. I am very excited and think that the resort looks beautiful.

Few questions:

1. Our plane lands at 7:30 p.m., and I will be flying alone with my three little ones. I imagine we won't get checked in until 9 p.m. or later. As a family of 5, we will be put in Alligator Bayou with the trundle bed. That appears to be quite a hike from the lobby. Will they give us a lift, as I am sure that my three sleepy heads will not be up for a late night walk in the dark?

2. Will they hold our luggage up front rather than knocking on the door at midnight when it arrives from Magical Express?

3. My kiddos would like to go to the POFQ pool to see that Sea Monster. How feasible is it to get there from POR w/o a car?

4. If you have a room close to the pool or bus stop, what is the noise level like? What's the noise level here in general? I'm a light sleeper. :)

5. Do they have life vests for kids at the pool? I would rather not pack ours wet to fly back.

6. What breakfast options are there now that I have heard that Boatwright's is no longer serving bfast? (very disappointed about that, even though I have never eaten there) Any fav menu items you would recommend for dinner?

Thanks so much for your help! I'm really looking forward to my trip and love looking at all of the pictures I see on the various websites. (especially yours, Andre!)

Erm, I count four of you, but that could just be my brain playing up... :) Put in a request for AB if you want the trundle bed, but be aware it's not guaranteed. There's online checkin of course, but no one really knows if this will work any better for requests or not. I'd suggest calling the resort in the morning before you fly and ask to speak to the front desk/room allocators (ask specifically; all incoming calls are picked up by a generic call centre first).

If you can get an AB room close to the main building then the walk is very short, but the further lodges can be a bit of a trek - see Google Earth or similar for an idea of the layout, or there's a map in the first post in this thread. The resort does have pargos (like big golf carts) for transporting luggage around, and if you ask nicely they'll often give people a lift too, but it's not an official service.

2. Will they hold our luggage up front rather than knocking on the door at midnight when it arrives from Magical Express?

You'd have to discuss that with them, not sure what the policy would be, I know there is a cut-off time for luggage deliveries. You could also put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door if it gets too late.

3. My kiddos would like to go to the POFQ pool to see that Sea Monster. How feasible is it to get there from POR w/o a car?

It's about half a mile along a lovely riverbank pathway (takes about 10 minutes to walk) or you could catch a free ferry boat (5 mins journey time, runs every 20 mins or so). You are allowed to pool-hop between POR and POFQ, so you can take a swim when you get there too.

4. If you have a room close to the pool or bus stop, what is the noise level like? What's the noise level here in general? I'm a light sleeper. :)

POR is quite good in terms of external noise, even the closest rooms to the roadways have trees between you and the buses and the resort is full of lots of winding pathways so you won't get everyone walking along the same route. If you get a ground floor room there is always the danger of a small herd of elephants moving into the room above though, which can be noisy. ;)

5. Do they have life vests for kids at the pool? I would rather not pack ours wet to fly back.

Yes at the main feature pools, but not at the smaller quiet pools. They are free. They are also supplied free if you are hiring watercraft.

6. What breakfast options are there now that I have heard that Boatwright's is no longer serving bfast? (very disappointed about that, even though I have never eaten there) Any fav menu items you would recommend for dinner?

The food court is open for breakfast from 6am/7am, and they do a good selection of counter-service options from bacon/sausage/eggs/pancakes to healthier make-your-own yougurt parfaits, etc. I'd suggest trying to avoid the peak 8.30am-9.30am period if you can as it gets pretty busy and the lines can get very long.

Glad you're finding the website useful, have a great trip!

Andre
