The Murphy's are LIVE from the Beach Club (4/30-5/7)

Erika,

This was a great TR!!! And I am now even MORE excited about staying there in August.

If you don't mind, what is the fax number for BC? If your fax request worked, maybe I might have to try it...

Dining Plan
Now that you have to tip with the dining plan I really don't enjoy it as much. I really liked it better before when you could just present your card and pay nothing (unless you ordered something extra). Also we miss having the appetizers included. :sad2: I'm not sure why Disney decided to make these changes but it is very confusing for the servers... especially ones who are new. We had a female server at Mama Melrose who was from China and bless her heart she looked near tears trying to explain the dining plan to a large group next to us. They were fighting with her about the appetizers and the tip, etc, they obviously didn't know changes had taken place (which by the way I was VERY surprised when I check-in at the BC they didn't go over the Dining Plan with me or mention the changes that had taken place, it seems like that would be the perfect opportunity to explain it to guests and make sure they understand what they get and don't get) I felt bad for the server and hated to complain to her about how long we had to wait for everything. We were seated at 7:15 and didn't get out of there until 9:30. Everything was so slow... and she never came back to check on us or give refills, etc. We had a bit of a language issue and I really felt like she was overwhelmed and trying to do her best. This similar situation happened to us a couple more times. I think the Dining Plan has caused some restaurants to become way overbooked, and over crowded. You don't get the personal service you use to get, and most of the restaurants have done away with tableclothes, and crammed more tables into already crowded rooms. So my overall opinion of the Dining Plan has gone down. We are not going to use it this July, and are still on the fence about using it in October.[/QUOTE]

I could't agree with you more on the DDP. Our trip in April by using it we only saved about $19, with the old plain we use to save $150 plus. We're Ap Holders we've been looking into DDE, with that you receive 20% off everything.:woohoo:

We have decided to only do the dining plan for part of our next trip. (the first 3 days) Then the last 3 days we're just going to wing it. We've got a couple of ADRs made and we'll probably do quite a bit of snacking in the concierge lounge, and I'm actually GLAD not to have to worry about the dining plan for the whole stay. ;) Like I said before, now that you have to tip it's just not that good of a deal anymore. Especially since we're going without the kids this time.

Only 22 more days left for us!!!!!! :cool1:

Anne - I hope you got my PM. My internet was down for 2 whole days and has just been on and off the last 2 days. It's driving me insane! Everytime I sit down to type something it goes out. :sad1: I feel like banging my head against the wall! :sad2:

I hope your fax works!!! :goodvibes

Subscribing. We just upgraded to the Beach Club, so I hope to find some good tips here. Oh, and we live near Boston as well. :goodvibes
