The Murphy's are LIVE from the Beach Club (4/30-5/7)

Enjoying your report - warming myself up for our trip in 20 days!!! Let us know what kind of deal you get for a bounceback so maybe I can try and squeeze in a quick trip later this year!
Enjoy your last day!

When you say hot, like how hot? 80's or 90's?

It's been upper 80's the last couple of days... which seems very hot to us. Last week it was more in the lower to mid 80's and we were very comfortable. But the last couple of days have seemed really hot at mid-day. But at night the weather is wonderful! :)

Alrighty.... I left off with last night... EMHs at MK. :) We got there right as the first Spectro was starting... YIKES :scared1: Holy Moly Crowded!!! We weaved our way down Main Street and headed over to Tomorrowland and hit the Laugh Floor. We always skip the first parade when they do two since the second one is always dead. After Laugh Floor I went down to the Hub to watch Wishes while DH took the kids on Buzz and Stitch. They still get pretty freaked out about fireworks, so they wanted to get away from the sound. I didn't mind because it gave me a chance to walk down in front of the castle all by myself to enjoy the show. :)

Pics to come!

We stayed at MK until about 1:30 AM. We did Jungle Cruise, Pirates, TTA, CoP, Haunted Mansion, pretty much anything we wanted to do with very short wait times. I like MK late at night when it's dark and cool. :cloud9: I really wanted to get an ice cream cookie sandwich on Main Street but I was still stuffed from Kona and couldn't do it. I'm hoping to grab one tomorrow on our last day! We've got about a dozen snack credits left... so tomorrow we'll be trying to use those up. :upsidedow

The bus ride back to BC wasn't too bad. They weren't sharing with BWI or S/D... so the ride was short. I have to say I REALLY hate it when all 5 resorts share a bus. I know I've said this before but I really don't understand why 5 deluxes have to share sometimes. I understand that sometimes it's off season and the parks aren't crowded, but I really don't think people paying big bucks for a deluxe should have to make 5 stops. It's the number ONE thing I don't like about the Epcot resorts. I was telling DH last night I really want to get back to the monorail resorts when we come back in the fall. Even though the nightlife isn't as good, you just can't beat that awesome transportation to MK. And if they share buses to the other parks it's usually only with two resorts, never 5.

More to come!!! popcorn::

Monday, May 5th... day 6 of the trip! :thumbsup2

After our 2:00 AM EMH at MK last night we didn't even wake up this morning until 10:45!!! I rolled over, looked at the clock, and was shocked! I guess we were pretty wiped out. We hurried to get dressed and went to Disney Studios hoping to catch a few shows. We lucked out and managed to fit in Indiana Jones, Playhouse Disney, and Star Tours. We had lunch at Pizza Planet.

I have to dedicate a whole paragraph to the block party bash. Today was a Monday in May... you wouldn't think that is a very busy time at WDW... but the block party bash was a NIGHTMARE!!! First of all I think the whole idea stinks. A parade is much easier to see and enjoy than this street show idea. Basically the parade stops and puts on a show. So depending on where you are sitting you can only see certain characters and parts of the parade. We were right in front of the Monsters Inc section. It was cute but it had way, way, way too many kids dancing when really I think people want to see characters, not dancers. And because it doesn't move everyone starts trying to move up and down the street to see different areas. The first main section is the Toy Story section, but we only saw it for a few seconds as it drove past us. Then the 3rd and last section was Bugs Life, but we couldn't see it at all. So basically we saw Monsters Inc and that was it. At the end of the show Mr. and Mrs. Incredible popped out of the tops of the floats, but they were so high up I don't think my kids could even see them. It seemed odd to me. My suggestion is to keep the parade moving and forget the stopping to put on a show part. Also get rid of about 90% of the dancers... nobody cares about college program kids sweating their butts off. :lmao: We want characters!!! :thumbsup2 My kids did catch a ball at the end, so they were happy about that. But fought over who got to hold it for the rest of the day. :rotfl: Who invented this show??? :upsidedow

Thanks for the overview of the Block Party Parade. I was wondering how that worked. I, too, would prefer a moving parade. This way we all get to see every character equally rather than a hit or miss method.

Thanks for the updates! Great pictures as usual!

Wow what an awesome LIVE report. So glad I found it. What a beautiful family you have.

Let me say we would be shattered if we tried to do what you do. Out till 1Am and up in the AM for another park! You go guys!

Enjoy!

Dinner at Mama Melrose last night...

IMG_0780.jpg

After the parade yesterday we decided to head back to BC for a rest. We needed to regroup before going back for dinner and EMH. Half of us went swimming, the other half stayed in the room. It was a short break because dinner was back at the studios at Mama Melrose. I definitely have mixed feelings about the dining plan at this point. I think I always hit a wall after a few days and start wishing we wouldn't have done it. The single credit table service restaurants are all pretty much the same these days... crowded, loud, with stressed out servers and food that has been cheapened down to fit the dining plan budget. It's definitely not like the Disney of the old days where you really felt like you were getting a break from the parks for a "fine dining" experience. Now you have to use 2 table service credits to get that feeling... which is sort of sad because some of these single credit restaurants use to be outstanding. But anyway, I'm getting off track. Mama Melrose was good, we had a terrible server who was slow, confused, and probably new. But the food was OK. DH had the seafood spaghetti and I had the chicken pasta with artichokes, peas, and red pepper. :)

After eating we got our EMH wristbands and did the Playhouse Disney dance party, Tower of Terror, and then came back and went to bed.

Coming up next... our last day!!! :( Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace, MK, and dinner at Ohana.

I sooo look forward to warm weather!!!:goodvibes It is unseasonably cool here in New England. A little warmer today but not like it is going to be for me in 4 days!!!! Thanks so much for your great report!!:thumbsup2
I agree about Block Party Bash! I miss the old parade...I thought it was the best parade at the World! I also agree about sharing a bus with 5 resorts at so called peak season rates!! :scared1: Have a great last day and enjoy!!!

Dinner at Kona... ahhhhhh... always my favorite! :cloud9: And I'm really not kidding, it is my favorite. I think the new chef at Le Cellier needs to take a steak cooking lesson from the chef at Kona because our steaks were PERFECT and sooooo tasty! :lovestruc I topped mine off with the lava cake.... soooo good! :) Kona Cafe.... A+++++++++++ :yay:

Why isn't the lava cake on Kona's menu? We are thinking dining there for the first time and I know my dh will LOVE that!

We were there last week & felt the same way about the Block Party. Even my kids said "too many dancers, not enough characters". We watched it by the statues(heads) & it stopped there but then everyone crowded around it. I agree, when Mike W was on top of his float my kids could not see him either. I liked the motorcars parade much better.

Thanks for keeping us updated, enjoy your last day at the world.:wizard:

Wish I was there right now, although Jersey weather is BEAUTIFUL TODAY!

Sounds like you're having an awesome vaca!!!! Enjoy!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hello Erika!! Your trip reports have been fabulous! We're heading to the Beach Club this July and you've got me so excited with all those pictures of SAB. Looking forward to more!

Our last full day!!! :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: (Tuesday, 5/6)

We set the alarm early and headed to MK for the Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace. Which I think is a great way to start off the last day of your trip, it gets you up and out and in the park before it opens, so we could take some special pics of us all on the empty Main Street. :lovestruc Also we hit Photopass again... I'm hoping to get some great pics once we get home with the photopass coupon I have. :thumbsup2

The Pooh breakfast is always big for us. Our youngest DS loves Pooh, I think he's got to be his #1 fan. He still sleeps with a stuffed Pooh and Pooh blankie that he's had since the day he was born. (lots of pics coming)

After breakfast we headed to BTMRR and Splash. The waits were less than 10 minutes. Which was GREAT after a busy and crowded weekend in the parks. :cloud9: It really didn't start to get crowded until around 1:00 PM when we were in Fantasyland. So we left MK and headed back to BC for swimming.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed swimming so much at WDW before. :goodvibes The BC is really great if you are pool type people who love to just layout, take a dip, and relax. :cloud9: I didn't even know I was a pool person until this trip. But I really am I think. The BC has a great atmosphere, the kids love all the games, activities, music, prizes, etc, so they were happy and busy for hours. Every day they had something different, dunk games, critter round up, making t-shirts, line dancing, bingo, water volleyball, etc. We took advantage of the tube rental, for the lazy river, and we really enjoyed Hurricane Hannas for beverages. ;) I finally understand why some people are just in love with this resort. It reminded me a lot of the summers I spent in Myrle Beach as a child, I highly recommend BC if you think this is the type of resort you're looking for! :thumbsup2 The only downside... SAND in your PANTS! :rotfl: Our room was covered in sand everyday. No matter how much we'd try to rinse our suits out we never got the sand out. And even as I unpack there is sand in all the suitcases. That was the only thing that bugged me!

We ended up staying at the pool for about 6 hours! And we all got sunburned, oops!!! :upsidedow But we knew it was our last day and we'd be back to the cold Indiana weather, so it was worth it. :)

Finally we remembered to call about the BOUNCEBACK! :scared: We got quotes for October and they had availability at GF, CR, BC, BWI, WL, and AKL. The only deluxe they didn't have was Poly. So we booked CR wing room for like $280 I think it was. I still haven't looked up the rack rate to see if that is a good deal... but CR is the only WDW resort we haven't tried yet so we are determined to keep it! :thumbsup2 They didn't have the tower, only tower club level, but I think the wing will be nice. We can walk to MK and the bigger square footage will be nice. :)

Coming up... tons of pics and our last meal - Ohana! :cheer2:

Why isn't the lava cake on Kona's menu? We are thinking dining there for the first time and I know my dh will LOVE that!

Oops, sorry, it's not actually called lava cake, but that is pretty much what it is. I think it's official name is Kilahua Torte. (sorry that probably isn't spelled right and I'm too lazy to go look it up at allearsnet) :lmao: It's chocolate cake with hot liquidy chocolate inside. :) YUMMMMMMMM!!!! :goodvibes

Enjoy Kona... my favorite!!! :thumbsup2

Hello Erika!! Your trip reports have been fabulous! We're heading to the Beach Club this July and you've got me so excited with all those pictures of SAB. Looking forward to more!

You will really love it! :) I miss it so much already. :( We got home about an hour ago and it's freezing cold here. I had to turn the heat on!!! :sad1:

The last two days of our trip the pool slides were closed, which was kind of a bummer for the kids, but by the time you get there they'll be done. ;)

If you have any questions about SAB feel free to ask! :goodvibes

I can't believe your trip has already come and gone! SAB is great, isn't it?! We loved lounging around the pool last year, unfortunately we only did that one day of our trip there.

I think you will love CR. We did a split stay there with the BC last year and if it weren't for SAB, BC would have been a bust for us. The bed linens at CR are like laying in a cloud--the room was SO relaxing. We just LOVED LOVED LOVED it! I hope to get back there next spring. Have you signed onto the CR thread?

Thanks, Erika~I have heard others refer to it as the lava cake too, so I thought I was missing something! We currently have an 8:20 ADR for the 4th of July....which is too late! wahhh! It is our son's 18th birthday and we would like to get an earlier ressie so we can watch the MK fireworks. We are definitely going to try Kona one way or another....

:sad1: So sad it's over, well just think your going back in October! I enjoyed your reports thanks!
