The Murphy's are LIVE from the Beach Club (4/30-5/7)

I can't believe your trip has already come and gone! SAB is great, isn't it?! We loved lounging around the pool last year, unfortunately we only did that one day of our trip there.

I think you will love CR. We did a split stay there with the BC last year and if it weren't for SAB, BC would have been a bust for us. The bed linens at CR are like laying in a cloud--the room was SO relaxing. We just LOVED LOVED LOVED it! I hope to get back there next spring. Have you signed onto the CR thread?

We are really looking forward to it! This is the last resort left on our list... then I can officially say I've stayed at every resort on property! :woohoo:

I'll have to look for that thread about CR. ;)

Ok, I finally have pictures from our last day! But I had to use the bulk uploader on photobucket so they probably won't be as clear as the earlier pics I posted. My computer at home has satellite internet and it is so slow. I tried last night over and over to upload them the regular way and it kept crashing. So hopefully these turn out OK. :)

Empty MK on our last morning! :)

First, I just have to say thank you the time you spent on sharing your trip! The report and photos are so much fun. I see your Splash Mountain picture. How do you have that? I mean I have only bought photos before at the ride kiosk. Do you have access to it digitally? I saw another person had a ride picture on their Photopass pictures...can you add them to your Photopass?

Thank you for your help.

To finish up my report I have to tell you about our last night at WDW. After swimming for 6 hours we quickly headed over to the Poly via bus to MK and then monorail for dinner at Ohana. Our reservation was at 9:15 PM, and when we arrived I couldn't believe how many people were waiting to be seated. We only waited a few minutes and got a beautiful table by the window overlooking the castle. :lovestruc We hadn't done Ohana in a couple of years because we were so upset when they got rid of the shrimp wontons. :sad1: But I am happy to report that the new changes to the menu are very good! :thumbsup2 They still have sticky wings and that delicious salad, but now you also get pot stickers, noodles, and broccoli, which were new since we had been last. They also no longer bring everything on a turntable, it's in big bowls served family style. We were starving after all the swimming so we pigged out big time! :) By the time the meats came we were full. ;) DH had a ton of shrimp and steak, I enjoyed the turkey and pork, the kids mostly stuck with the sidedishes, except we did manage to get a PB&J for our youngest who wasn't really digging the food too much. So that worked out. The boys were excited to get up and play some games...........

It was really a great last night. :cloud9: I have to share these next two pics of the boys... after eating and playing games they both totally CRASHED and fell sound asleep in the restaurant. I guess that proves they had a great vacation and we wore them out! :upsidedow

Somehow we managed to wake them up long enough for one more picture! :)

We were so exhausted we decided to take a taxi back to the BC. It was about $15 not including tip. Which was worth every penny to us at that point! :goodvibes We all fell in our beds and died... when the alarm went off the next morning at 6:00 AM I felt like we'd slept about 10 minutes. We quickly headed down to catch Magical Express... and were thrilled to see the Marketplace open early for mug refills. HOORAY!!! :cool1: It normally doesn't open until 7:00 AM but they must open the drink refill side earlier so people can get their morning coffee. ;) We quickly filled our mugs for one last drink and hopped on the bus.

GOODBYE FOR NOW DISNEY WORLD!!!! WE'LL SEE YA REAL SOON!!!!! :lovestruc

Next trips booked.....

DH and I go to WDW in July ALONE for our 10th wedding anniversary! :goodvibes

The whole family goes back in October, for our BOUNCEBACK to the CR!

I just snapped a quick pic with my digital camera while the ride picture was up on the computer. Just make sure you turn off your flash first! :)

Here's a clearer copy of it.............

Only a few rides offer photopass. I know Test Track does. I think they all should do it... I'd be much more likely to buy the pic once I get home than when I'm in the park. Oh! Speaking of Photopass I need to get over to that website and check out our pics!!!!!!!!! :cloud9:

Have fun in July, and Happy Anniversary!

Thanks! :) We just booked Poly Lagoon View for July with the new AP rate! :lovestruc It will be a perfect place for our 10th anniversary! :goodvibes

Nice! When will you be there? We are going early this summer....decided to celebrate our Fourth of July baby's
18th birthday and I have to say, I think I am a little frightened to be there during that time!!!! :scared1:

Excellent pics! Looks like your vacation ended with many happy memories.
Thanks for sharing your vacation with us!

Now that we have been home a few days I've had a chance to digest our trip and I have some closing thoughts.....

Beach Club
A beautiful resort, we really enjoyed Stormalong Bay and being close to Epcot. We found our room to be clean when we arrived, but did happen to have two incidences of our room not being cleaned. Which resulted in having to speak with the hotel manager. He was very nice and apologetic. He sent someone up to clean immediately and also gave us a room credit for our trouble. :thumbsup2

We loved, loved, LOVED the staff who ran the games and activities at the pool. :) That was really a highlight of our trip. They really go out of their way to provide plenty of fun activities, music, games, etc, and our kids were never bored for a second. Next time we stay we're going to plan more pool days!

The front desk staff was a bit disappointing... I stopped there once after coming back late from the parks one night and asked if there was a place in the hotel to buy a drink (marketplace was already closed) and she said "no". A quick check of the DIS boards and I found out where a vending machine was on the 1st floor and was able to buy drinks ($2.50 each). My other negative experience with the front desk was when I stopped by one evening to ask about laundry. Again I was given wrong information, but luckily figured it out on my own. Also we did not receive our folio the morning of check-out. So I had to call billing once we got home and have them fax us our room charging so I could verify the charges and find out what our total was. So I'm not too happy about that part of the BC.

Transportation was fine, no major issues, I just hate sharing a bus with 5 resorts. Even when it's not crowded it's just a pain to make all those stops. I won't go off on my rant again with that. ;)

Dining Plan
Now that you have to tip with the dining plan I really don't enjoy it as much. I really liked it better before when you could just present your card and pay nothing (unless you ordered something extra). Also we miss having the appetizers included. :sad2: I'm not sure why Disney decided to make these changes but it is very confusing for the servers... especially ones who are new. We had a female server at Mama Melrose who was from China and bless her heart she looked near tears trying to explain the dining plan to a large group next to us. They were fighting with her about the appetizers and the tip, etc, they obviously didn't know changes had taken place (which by the way I was VERY surprised when I check-in at the BC they didn't go over the Dining Plan with me or mention the changes that had taken place, it seems like that would be the perfect opportunity to explain it to guests and make sure they understand what they get and don't get) I felt bad for the server and hated to complain to her about how long we had to wait for everything. We were seated at 7:15 and didn't get out of there until 9:30. Everything was so slow... and she never came back to check on us or give refills, etc. We had a bit of a language issue and I really felt like she was overwhelmed and trying to do her best. This similar situation happened to us a couple more times. I think the Dining Plan has caused some restaurants to become way overbooked, and over crowded. You don't get the personal service you use to get, and most of the restaurants have done away with tableclothes, and crammed more tables into already crowded rooms. So my overall opinion of the Dining Plan has gone down. We are not going to use it this July, and are still on the fence about using it in October.

Thanks so much for your report. I'm really looking forward to our BCV stay in October. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to try out SAB! We won't be using the dining plan. They don't accept it at a couple of the restaurants we like to go to, plus we spend a day at Universal. We'll also be renting a car because DH can't stand the buses and frankly I don't have much patience for them either. :goodvibes

Erika - Your trip was so fun to read. We were supposed to be there right now so I really needed the "pick me up" :goodvibes

We are trying to decide which resort for our upcoming July trip. It looks like you've stayed at most of the deluxe properties. Would you mind saying which is your favorite?????

Trying to decide whether to go back to WL or AKL (better prices) or to the BC with the quick access to the BC. Or to try a different resort entirely - maybe the Poly???

Thanks!

It's always a really tough decision! :) Each time we go I try to think about what we'll be doing, what the weather will be like, what the special events are, etc. For our July trip we knew we wanted a fantastic pool area, because it's so hot, and we knew we wanted to be close to nightlife, since we weren't bringing our kids this time, and then the final factor was the concierge service, because we wanted to use our AP discount. So putting all those factors together we came up with YC. But that's not to say we wouldn't be happy somewhere else. For our upcoming October trip we booked the CR because the kids really wanted to be close to MK, and the monorail. So they had more of a vote this time around. The main deciding factor was the bounceback rate, we took what we could get so we could use that discount.

I guess I'd break it down like this. If money were no object and I wasn't counting on AP rates I would probably pick either the Poly, YC/BC, or the GF. Those are the best in my humble opinion. But like you said, many times we have done WL or AKL because we can save money. :) And they are also beautiful resorts. The WL at Christmas time is one of my favorite WDW memories.

Since you are going in July I would highly recommend YC/BC for the access to Stormalong Bay and it's close proximity to Epcot. But really any deluxe resort is going to provide a wonderful experience! :)

Just found your trip report! Thanks for sharing your family trip and wonderful pictures! We'll be returning to WDW in October too!
Hope you enjoy your next two trips!!

Just read your whole report, I am impressed that you can do a TR while at WDW:rotfl2: Looks like you had a great time, thanks for being so honest in your TR. It really helps to put everything in perspective. Your family is so adorable.

Thanks!!! :goodvibes We really did have a great time. I finally got a chance to order our Photopass pictures yesterday... I got 10 different 5x7 shots with the 40% off P&Pparty discount which made them only $75... so I was super excited! :)

I can't believe we'll be back in just 53 days. :dance3: :woohoo:

I'm definitely going to do another trip report! :thumbsup2
