Finally got a chance to go on the mummy the other week and thought I would give my little review on it. We went 13 times during the legnth of our stay!!!

First off let me say that the mummy did break down a lot during our stay (on average 2 times a day) it could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours and 10 minutes to fix.

We were really excitied to go on a ride we hadent ridden a 100 times before:p

Really impressed with the way they themed the building.

From the loading station we went into the room with reggie mummified and the mummie talking to us, I must say this was great animotronics. (note: 1 time we rode, the animatronic was not working so they projected a face on to the tomb, which was a nice back up plan)

Then into the treasure room which was niceley themed and the mummy talking to us (projected on a screen). Then the wall nearly falling on us was really fun!!!

Then on into the room with the beetles (they could have made this scarier by blowing air on your necks)

Then backward down the slopes which is thrilling

Then the car rotating with the projected mummy talking to us (they could have done this better, the projection didnt seem that good)

Then was shot up the slope which had a cool fog effect

Roller coaster part was fast and really fun but it left you feeling it was short (I suppose they didnt have much space)

Then into the fake unloading station which was cool but they could have done better (fire effect was awesome)

Then you went down the slope fast (where they take your picure) and did another turn and then you go back to the loading station.

Although I may sound critical here, I thourouly enjoyed the ride and it is my favorie at Universal Studioes

I would give it about a 8.5/10 mainly because it made you feel like it needed to be longer.

I Would like to here other opionions on this ride

In CHRIST,

Gavin

Great review! Thanks for sharing! I love the Mummy! Can't wait to get back!

Just got back myself.
I thought everything was cool, just the 2nd half of the ride was short. After the fake unload station, the car dips to the left, back to the right, and it is over. A helix or some bunny hops would have been good.
My favorite seat is front left, because you get an extra fog effect at the end.
For those who don't know, at the top of the lift, the path is covered in fog, so you can't see what is on the other side. It's a drop and a huge turn to the right. Then at the end of the ride, there is another fog blast that will get the rider in the front left seat.
My first ride was in this seat, so I was like wow, that was cool.
The first two times we rode it, I was blown away. But then as I rode it again later in the day, I was thinking how short the 2nd half of the ride is.

as was indicated in the original thread post - this ride seems to break down quite a bit. This past week, it broke down every day. A couple of days, it was down for hours at a time. But, if that is the price of safety, I can "live" with it. I too thought the ride was too short. Although, I did not think the theming at the beginning of the ride was that great. After the intro room, as you round the corner after the wall drops on you, there are a couple of projections on the wall. Pretty lame at that. The beetle room could definately have been improved upon. Much like the air system in Shrek, they could have blown air on you to simulate the effect of the beetles attacking you. Once on the coaster part, most of the effects are white colored projections. Not much to look at. I would imagine they could do more at this stage. HOWEVER, I think the coaster technology is fantastic and the ride as a whole is a plus for Universal Studios. Spiderman is still the best in my book. By the way, anyone know what the manhole cover says in Spiderman, just before Spidey saves you from hitting the street?

White colored projections? There are no white projections. There's bright, multi-colored warrior mummies and a few fog effects.

other than the two or three warriors, there are numeruos small, white projections

The man hole cover says Not An Exit

I just rode the Mummy last Saturday, 6/19/04. It broke down quite a few times while I was waiting in line which I found to be distracting to the ride. I am a big fan of the movie but only felt so so about the ride. I would give it a 7 out of 10. I think that it could possibly be higher if I didn't get the "we're experiencing delays" speech twice in less than 25 minutes. In addition, I wasn't sure how long we were supposed to sit at the false ending, but we were there for over 5 minutes. After we finally got going again, it was over way too quickly. I plan to ride it again in November and hopefully the bugs will be worked out. There were some girls that were ahead of me that broke down while on the ride and the engineers had to work on it - definitely not good.

I just got back, and after riding the Mummy 3 times, I felt a little disappointed for all the hype. It broke down only once, did not get to see Imoteph (sp?) once, but still thought it was a unique ride. However, Spiderman is MUCH better!

Did you have your eyes closed? There's 2 Imhotep animatronics and he has some type of presence in almost every scene.

we rode it in May, before the grand opening, and all loved it... Course, I screamed my freakin head off the entire time, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

I opted to not ride it again due to the MASSIVE bruise I got the first time around... it truly was an impressive bruise, and last 2 weeks! When we got thrown backwards, my left arm slammed into the seat.

DH and DB LOVED it. =)

Ok, I have a question. DD(12) and I tried to ride Mummy 6/6 when we were at US. The first time we walked by, the line was 60 mins long, then 75 and at one point 90 mins. We did not have express pass since we were staying offsite....a mistake I won't make again! As the day progressed a thunderstorm rolled in. Alot of people left so the lines dropped down. FINALLY the sign said 20 mins!! YEA, we rushed in line and worked our way through all the little rooms. Each time we thought we were coming to the last room, another one was around the corner. Now I'm trying to figure out which room is actually the LAST room. We entered the building on the left, worked through several rooms and then came out to the front of the building
...here were 2 very tall doors and alot of equipment that looked like movie equipment. At this point we could see costumes and masks locked in little cages. This is where we got the news that The Mummy was having technical difficulties and there would be a delay in boarding. Lots of people moved out of line until we finally worked our way into another room that looked like the inside of a crypt. In the middle was a huge box that looked like a treasure chest. This was as far as we got b/c it was 7:30 and the park closed at 8...we backed out to join DH and other 2 DDs and get in line at Shrek. We were very disappointed not to get to ride the ride since we were so close to what we thought was "the end of the line". Now I'm thinking there may have been a few more rooms. Can anyone make any sense out of this and tell me actually how close we were to the loading room? We won't get to go back for another 5 yrs or so but it'd be interestng to know just how close we were.

After the large room with columns and the case with handprints in the middle of it, you turn a corner and enter a maze of switchbacks that lead to a staircase. At the top of the staircase is the loading platform.

Imhotep did not come out of the coffin, and he did not pop up at the false ending. we heard his voice, but did not see him.

Was this before or after the 21st? If it was after, you should have at least seen the false unload animatronic. He can't hide like the other one, even if he's not working.

The animatronics can be hidden. It's the "alternate show" that is used. It's not as great as the full show, of course.

We were there in early June. The ride broke down several times our first day and we ended up only getting to ride it one time. Days later when we came back, we used single rider and it broke down just before we were able to get on. We stayed in line and they finally got it going again. However during our ride, our car stopped when it was in the beetle room. It goes dark and rather than quickly reversing, we sat there in the dark for almost 3-4 minutes--it really ruined the effect. I'm glad we weren't in the fire room when we got stuck!

I enjoyed the ride and look forward to riding it more the next time we go. I'm facinated to hear about all the detail you all see from riding it so many times. With just twice you can't see it all.

For all the people who have never ridden before, don't even try to get in line to ride before you take your waist packs, etc. to the lockers (located to the right of the building as you look at the entrance). They won't let you take ANYTHING on the ride.

Ugh...I've gotten stuck there about 3 or 4 times....it's the scariest thing too...you know you aren't supposed to be stopped there after a certain amount of time...the fire roof cuts off, and you sit in silence and darkness. Then, all of a sudden, you go down the drop...no sound at all...no warning. Really freaky!! The other scary part is when you are coming into the fire room after it's already broke down...a car is already stuck in there! Your in the darkness of the coaster, and when you finally see...you are about to run into the car in front of you! Well, you stop a little behind it, but not much at all! Yikes! Once, that happened to me, and the car in front did the silent drop. Then, you felt the tracks rumbling....as another car behind you comes in. Aahhhh!!!

Maybe the lack of special effects may take away from this part, but let me tell ya.....it's scarier this way! ::yes::

You've made me a believer. Wow, I hope I never experience what you've described...that sounds so dangerous and scary. I'm surprised they have made it to let cars run up behind another that way. It's good that they have provided a way for them not to hit, but still.....
Thanks for the info!
