The most unbudget thing you did...

Nothing Disney-related, as my last few trips have been very budget-conscious and before that they were family trips that my parents paid for. Although I probably could have done without the two shirts I bought last summer that are now too big for me... Oh well.

Real life? Definitely my iPad. I so don't need it. I don't use it very often unless I'm traveling and I absolutely love my Macbook (it's almost 4 years old and still works perfectly and has been my best purchase to date). I bought it spur-of-the-moment last summer because I was going away for a weekend and didn't want to have to rely on my phone browser and it sits in its sleeve more often than not. Also, I hate the battery life on my iPhone 5 and I want my 4 back! But I traded in my 4 for the 5 and got the 5 half price, so it wasn't an awful purchase.

Disney is where we do most of our "not buget" spending. AP's and 3 trips in one year this year was our biggest splurge. We went for a week in Nov, and by that time knew that DD had an April cheer comp, and we were able to rent DVC for a steal for a 3rd trip in June. APs bought in Nov saw 3 trips.

This totally was not in the budget on our last trip... we bought DVC. :rotfl:

We never stay onsite because I have an old family timeshare in the Poconos and swap it for 2-bedroom Marriott timeshares. This trip we stayed in a POR Royal room for 2 nights before we checked into Marriott Grande Vista; POR was beautiful but we were climbing the walls because we were used to more space, kitchen, etc... Before we left our vacation, DH made an offer on an AKV resale! We loved on property, but there was no way we could last in a hotel room for an extended trip!

When DH turned 40 two years ago I got the "I don't drink, smoke, gamble, play golf... therefore I deserve a convertible" speech. When I turned 40 I got a bicycle. :rolleyes1 I guess he got sick of hearing snide the "you got a car and I got a bike" comments. AKV expires in 2057, I am probably not getting anymore gifts until then! :rotfl2:

OP my DH is exactly the same. He took the girls to Great Wolf once and spent an arm and a leg! What are you going to do though? My girls have him wrapped around their finger.

My last trip was the unbudget part. We had no trip planned or budgeted for. I got really really stressed out and needed a break. Looked at a weekend away and Disney was my cheapest option because I had expiring APs.

Crystal Palace AND CRT breakfasts for the whole family* - because it was what I wanted to do...and the Photopass Plus package too. (Seven adults and two little ones under 3 yrs.)

I don't regret one dollar that I spent on those three extravagances - but they were definitely non-budget.

Some very unbudget things we have done was spend $19,000 on vacations between October 2011 and April 2013.

We bought 434,000 Wyndham timeshare points. (really was a bargain what we got the points for, but if you bought them from Wyndham directly it would have been $75,000)

I don't own any purses that cost less than $300.

On our next trip with just DH and I we are eating every meal of an 8 day trip TS meals. (Mostly expensive Disney TS meals) A little splurge.

Spent over 20.00 on five pieces of caramel in Epcot's Germany.

Spent over 50.00 on a few snacks at the candy/ice cream shop on The Boardwalk.

I don't feel that the food at Disney is too expensive, but those little snacks add up fast!! I can never imagine a time that I would spend over 20 bucks on five pieces of caramel when I am home!!

We bought park hoppers at 8pm on the last night of our trip so DS could ride POC. It was after a huge mix-up with a CM at our resort that left our son in tears at the MK gates. We didn't want that to be his last memory, so we paid the $180 for four hours in the park. Best $180 we ever spent! lol

My DS18 caught a cold during our trip and was feeling miserable. He didn't feel like going to DTD with us so we left him at the townhouse to rest. He loves trains and monorails so I was looking for something special to buy him as a surprise. I found a monorail case for his iPhone, but it was $35. Kind of a lot for an iPhone case. But, I bought it anyway because he wasn't feeling well and I knew he would love it, which he did!

:) Ours was DVC also. After that it was the Finding Nemo framed print we purchased for about $400 at Art of Disney and had it shipped home one trip. Of, course I had to have it...it was Mr. Ray after all and similar to my DIS avatar....

In general it was the Kraftmaid kitchen and bathroom cabinets I got installed after Katrina....I love those cabinets and they are totally overpriced for our neighborhood. They were worth it.

My boss has a beach condo in FL and has always offered to let me use it. After several years of no vacations beyond trips to see my in-laws, I took him up on the offer. DH couldn't go because he had just started a new job.

DS was 4 and was not thrilled with a week away from Daddy. I pulled out a map, concluded that Disney World was 75 miles from the condo and checked to make sure I wasn't lying through my teeth and said, "Hey, if we go to the condo we could go see Pooh for Breakfast." To which he replied, "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner???"

And I said, "Sure."

So my free beach vacation included one day at the MK with a 4 year old who only knew about Pooh and no other Disney characters at all. Who insisted we eat 3 meals at the Crystal Palace. We rode a few rides, met Mickey and Pluto and he didn't want to leave. At the end of the day he wanted to know why he couldn't have had Snack with Pooh too...

This trip to Disney I'm planning! We sadly suffered a missed miscarriage 3 weeks ago and I needed something to do while I waited to see if nature or surgery would be required. I was planning just for something to do but we decided to book it and let our 2 year old experience some Disney magic!

sorry about your miscarriage. Hope you have a magical time with your family.

$600 for a perfume. It doesnt even have a spray thing! I have to dab it!

Nothing at disney is truly budget...

I am about to spend $500 so we can see a Christmas parade. LOL

For our 25th anniversary we stayed Club level honeymoon suite at Wilderness Lodge. It was great!

Outside of Disney, it would be DH's new motorcycle. It wasn't in the budget but he had wanted one for years since his last one died. We didn't have money when our girls were young so I looked at our budget and made it work.

It was one of the most expensive bikes in the store and we got the bells and whistles with it. DH feels he probably won't get another bike in his life (he is 50) so he got what he wanted. I do love the microphones in the helmets. I can even attach my IPod and listen to it.

You know, people always talk about how expensive Disney is, especially if you buy just a one day ticket or add hoppers. However, we just spent $255 to rent a pontoon boat for 3 hours on Sunday for 4 people. DD and her friend had a blast and it was totally worth it, but makes one day tickets for Disney look not so bad after all!

My most non-budget things I do at WDW? Probably spur of the moment purchases I hadn't planned on, like last years perfume, watch, blanket, coffee mug, travel mug...need I go on? :rolleyes1

Going to Disney at all is about the most unbudget thing we ever do. It costs easily three times or more what our normal vacations cost.

Non Disney, it would be activities for the kids. We spend a fortune on music lessons, instruments, orchestra fees and dance lessons.

Our first family trip to Disney a couple of years ago that was last minute. Tax refund helped pay for most.

For this year, the trip was more planned, but latest was getting tickets to MNSSHP & also buying pins on e-bay for $300 :rolleyes1 The trip is mostly paid for, so it's not a budget breaker, but I'd just told hubby I wouldn't be buying anymore except 1 or 2 when we got to the park.

Unfortunately, lots of other stuff non-disney related
