The most unbudget thing you did...

This was at Disneyland.

In one trip, we stayed 2 nights in the Fairytale Suite at Disneyland Hotel, which included concierge/club, ate 2 meals at Club 33, went on a backstage tour in the Disney studios (got to hold one of Walt's Oscars!!!), visited Walt's grave site in Forest Lawn, and ate dinner at Walt's favorite restaurant at his favorite table (The Tam O'Shanter). Such an amazing time!!!

This trip to Disney I'm planning! We sadly suffered a missed miscarriage 3 weeks ago and I needed something to do while I waited to see if nature or surgery would be required. I was planning just for something to do but we decided to book it and let our 2 year old experience some Disney magic!

I went thought the same thing two years ago (for the 3rd time) and we took our then two year old right afterwards (already a planned trip). It was great and kept my mind off things. If you need some support:someone to vent to, feel free to pm me. Have an awesome trip and treat yourself!

Princess lunch at Ariel's Grotto. It was a planned meal with reservations and everything, but I didn't do adequate research and wasn't prepared for the cost. LOL

I'm trying to think of something we did off budget on our WDW trip. I couldn't think of anything except the day we got there was supposed to be relax around resorts and DTD but we couldn't help it. The excitement got the best of us and we added a day to our tickets and headed for MK. LOL only cost us around $60. We actually came in under budget for the trip. But now as I type this I'm remembering there were lots of pretrip clothing purchases that were not budgeted!

For me,it's usually some souvenir I didn't know existed till I saw it in a store at WDW Last trip was about 250.00 worth ( I got a lot of cool kitchen stuff,hey I use it daily!) But I vowed not to do that again..... I don't need more stuff anyway,and the last few vacays we've taken I have been overspending on souvies....(not just Disney) For my DH we usually spend more than I want to on food and snacks..... On our upcoming trip I intend to do mostly qs food, but will 'splurge' on Boma while there.... I will stick to my budget next time! (also, some of those souvies were for my sons, I wanted to buy them each a special T they would like,etc)

I just upgraded our upcoming stay from POFQ to the Grand Floridian for the week.

I have always wanted to stay there, but could never justify the cost. This is the last trip to Disney, so I said what the heck and went for it.

Life is too short for "I should haves".

Disney - spending thousands to take my 2 year old while she's still free. I know it's going to be a blast though, and I wanted to go anyway!

Non-Disney - cars. I get good prices, but it's still not the most fiscally responsible side of us that comes out when it's time for a new one.

My budget buster was last year at the art gallery at the Boardwalk. I bought a beautiful print of "Rainbow Bridge" for 2K.

The artist was actually there and he ended up painting my 2 furbabies into the picture. I absolutely love it!! Going again in December. I will have to just stay away from there and leave me cc at home.

Our CA trip. $200 to eat at Goodys kitchen a family of 4. And $400 for 1 day at universal Hollywood. $2000 for the plane tickets!

This is an easy one for me.

It was April 2012 and my wife had just had our 2nd child a month prior. BC was in the midst of another epic Frozen Four run and had a 50/50 toss-up semifinal game with University of Minnesota the Thursday night before Easter at the Tampa Times Forum. I usually always go to these but swore I wouldn't go no matter what. BC smoked Minnesota like crazy as I watched from home. My buddy was itching to go and so was I. I started looking at flights, which were reasonable, and the next morning got into work and we booked RT plane tickets down to MCO for the Saturday championship game. Not a great decision financially for either of us.

For 24 hours. No hotel room. Flew out on Saturday morning early, rented a car and drove to Tampa, enjoyed the day, BC won the national title, and flew back early Sunday and I was at the dinner table in time for Easter brunch like I promised the wife.

Greatest day of my life and totally worth it!

And this was an all-time great goal I was able to see in person. I'll never forget it:

Mine was for DL. Dh husband and I went for 16 year belated honeymoon and bought the photo-pass. We literally have 1o pictures and they are not great!

We always buy photopass for WDW family trips and get our money worth.


Mine non Disney was buying a house. Now I love my house , almost. But it has cost me so much $$$ in just under two years! 3 new roofs, in the first year, new siding, gutters, doors , painting, new floors. Next is redo downstairs bathroom and then to the kitchen and ripping all the carpet. Sometimes I wish we never bought this house we would have so much more $ for Disney! And circumstance have changed and we are prob moving in the next 3 years and I hope we will be able to sell this house!

So sorry to hear.. I had a miscarriage IN Disneyland on a school/cheer trip with Dd13. Dh and I ended up going back a few months later for a "do over".

As for unbudget... many years ago in Disneyland when Dd20 was about 3.. she wet her pants while we were waiting for a parade. Rather than leaving to go back to the hotel, or just telling her to go "commando".. I went into the Emporium and bought her a new outfit and a package of panties! (no clue why I didn't have a spare in the diaper bag lol)

Disney related, it was the Princess lunch at Epcot. Our whole trip was a budget trip but that was our one splurge! It was totally worth it though! The picture of us with Belle is still one of my all time favorites!

Non-Disney related, it's probably trying to start our own business and having to close it. We were living on a shoestring as it was, but now we have a loan and a bunch of maxed out credit cards to show for the whole thing.. Still, it was a dream of DH's to try and we certainly gained some serious life experience.. We will eventually dig ourselves back out of debt..

We did the Princess lunch at Epcot, at Akershus. My uncle paid for the family (4 adults, 1 5yo princess), and as a very frugal person the price made me . However, it was such an amazing experience for our princess (my niece), that it was worth every penny. We all had tears in our eyes at how happy she was (I'm tearing up just remembering it.)

I have managed to dig myself into a fairly large and roomy financial hole in my life, and not only dug myself out but kept my frugal ways and ended up retiring at 50 and now volunteer full time as well as travel on a regular basis. You can and WILL do it.

Spent over 20.00 on five pieces of caramel in Epcot's Germany.

Spent over 50.00 on a few snacks at the candy/ice cream shop on The Boardwalk.

I don't feel that the food at Disney is too expensive, but those little snacks add up fast!! I can never imagine a time that I would spend over 20 bucks on five pieces of caramel when I am home!!

I will walk away from a $3 piece of candy at home (really anything over $1), and then buy expensive candy and ice cream at DL and WDW. I tell myself that that controls my budget and my weight as they are occasional splurges.

I have been thinking about making my kitchen as Disney as I can make it, and purchase one or two items on each trip. (Plus, once I get started my Disney freak friends will probably start giving me those as gifts.) However, I tend to get too excited to wait too long and will probably have one big purchase within the next couple years to get everything else I "need".

My biggest non-Disney thing that I regret is not checking that a local hospital was in-network for my insurance and ended up paying more OOP. (Not much, and I had the money, it's just frustrating to make silly mistakes like that.)

When I bought myself a new Aston Martin,my wife wasn't too happy cause I said I was going to buy a car that would be able to fit at least 5 people.I think she was expecting a range rover or an escalade but she got a shock when she saw my brand new db9 when I was driving upp the drive to our house

I am so sad for you.

I think the most unbudgeted item was our last trip to Disneyland. We got an inheritance and planned it and left in one month.
