The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

I sure haven't seen you around much lately!!!

Busy, busy.

Still no answers on the ticket conundrum??

The travel people never called me back. I guess they're tired of telling me "no". I just would like them to tell me the code on the back of the tickets so I can talk to Disney.

Oh, I get it.... the emphasis was on MY. ;) Duh... my bad..

great cartoons,

Can't wait to meet that household

Jordan here was Sunday night dinner for us...

We were finishing off some A&W rootbear from parkers birthday party, it was good, so i chugged some, well i had to hiccup, and then right after a huge burb followed it,

i laughed and parker leaned over in his chair to grab my arm while laughing, then as he is leaning over, he stops laughing for a half a second, farts, then starts to do his silent laugh, we are cracking up, because of the gas exchange, that is going on, parker pauses to fart again. I am silent laughing, candi is laughing and rolling her eyes at us...

Then not a second later Chip(our maltese/poddle mix dog) lets out a huge burb after drinking his water.

and without missing a beat i say to candi. "dont you just love our family"
her response, "I really need a little girl in this house who is a princess"

I've been doing more research and I think we're going to add Gettysburg to the list...HELP! I need some ideas of what to do. My ocd planing skills aren't working well for this trip.:rotfl:

Great story. I love the silent laugh, just shows how hard he's laughing. I can't wait to meet the little guy, I just have to remember to make sure I'm upwind.

I"m glad mine's not the only thread....

Yep, yours isn't the only one.

I've been doing more research and I think we're going to add Gettysburg to the list...HELP! I need some ideas of what to do. My ocd planing skills aren't working well for this trip.:rotfl:

That's great! I'd recommend going to http://www.gettysburgfoundation.org/ This is the website of the Visitor's Center. If you go to the "Visit" box there's a link to Battlefield Tours. It looks like you can hire a guide to give you a tour in your own car for $55 for up to 6 people. I'd go with that. See about reserving it in advance, but make it for a time that would ensure you have time to go through the Visitor's Center first. Start your day at the Visitor's Center and go through their musuem, which is very good, catch the film (I didn't see it, so can't comment) and then get the tour.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That was an awesome story! I know where your wife is coming from. I'm out numbered over here too!

wont be to hard to do since he is short.
funny thing is his farts really never smell...not sure how he pulls that one off.
:confused3

at least i know that if our next child is a girl, we will still have the boy numbers.

It's a tie in our family only if we count the dog.....so of course I do.

have to count the dog, they make the noises and the smells also.

We went years ago two years in a row !! We really enjoyed the tour with the Guide who drives your car and takes you around , It was much better than the regular touristy ones !! There is also an awesome restaurant with a cellar dining room that was great !! We stayed at a campsite that rented a huge trailer !! Was about 3 miles from the main drag!!! Also they had day trips to DC from the campground !!

Be careful when testing that assertion. One day you might find out differently.

I hadn't thought of it that way, that makes total sense. Have to count them.

Sounds good. Do you remember the name of that restaurant Rosie?

To fulfill our commitment to the Sheraton people we had to take a tour of their resort and run the sales juggernaut. Once we did that we got to keep our cheap room rate and we got $100 in spending money. Our tour time was 10:15 am, which kind of stunk for park touring, but at least we got to sleep in a little bit. We got around and drove the few miles to their new resort. We showed up on time and plopped down in the waiting area to be called for our tour. After a while our tour guide came and got us and we began the tour. I forget what our time commitment was to fulfill our obligation, probably two hours, but I remember thinking that if we took it slow on the tour and I asked a lot of questions that would mean more tour time and less sales pitch time. :teacher: I couldn’t have been more wrong, but I’m getting ahead of myself. We enjoyed the tour -- the suites were gorgeous and the resort was beautiful and the pool looked wonderful. The kids had fun going through the suites and picking out which rooms would be theirs.

Eventually the tour was over and we went to a room for the sit-down portion, ie. the sales pitch. We said that the resort was lovely and all, but we explained that we had no money for a luxury such as this. (I know you’re looking at my signature and thinking “Really, Mr. DVC guy?” Yeah, really. Several things worked out for us to be able to buy into DVC in recent years. Back in 2005 a purchase like that was completely out of the question.) I think we even turned our pockets inside-out to show the guy. I remember him saying something like, “well you have money to take vacations don’t you?”, which would seem like the perfect “I gotcha” question from his standpoint since everybody that comes through there is on vacation. But we were able to explain that this trip was earned as an incentive trip through Judy’s PChef business and that’s how we vacation. The next year we’d be going somewhere else, wherever the incentive trip was. I could see him suppress a “doh” under his breath, and now foiled, he left to go bring in his manager. The score at this point was Glennbo 1, Salespeople 0. But before the manager arrived they let us sit there for a quite a while, picturing people pouring through the Epcot turnstiles ahead of us, in our minds. Now the manager guy was tough, and gave us the hard-sell. As the clock approached 1 pm, and we had been there for 3 hours, we finally lost our patience

and said, “Listen, we’ve taken your tour and met our time commitment to you. We’re not buying, so give us our money and let us get outta here!” And they finally did. So that’s what it takes to get them to let you go. It’s not that you’ve taken the tour, or a timer goes off on your time commitment. They won’t let you leave until you either buy or get upset. They didn’t get their sale, but I’d still call the game a draw, since we lost so much park touring time. We decided that it was nice to get a good deal on the room for a few days, but we’d rather not do it again.

They won’t let you leave until you either buy or get upset.

Ugh! That's why I avoid these sales talks like the plague.

I remember the time when my parents went to Cancún and I warned no to accept anything "for free" in exchange to assist to a shares talk... have you heard those parents that complain their children won't listen to them? Well, parents don't listen to their children either :rotfl:

They lost almost a full day of their trip in a sales talk just for a free breakfast.

That story is why I run in the other direction from timeshare sales pitches....I've never seen one that offered enough incentive.:sad2:

I like the gimme my money....

They don't even bother with me...if they got a look at my credit rating they'd turn and run....and I would say "sucka"

Well I'm all caught up again. The flatulence laced banter had me cracking up. As to time shares, well, Papa would have been proud of your diligence.

Oh and Liesa, I CAN tell you that if you are on the bus and call a fellow DIS'er and hold up the phone so they can hear the music taunting them in the far away state of Texas, (Hi Jordan) the sound quality is surprisingly good. If you do go that route, I'll volunteer my services to try to sweeten up the audio a bit. We have a couple of programs I use at chruch for just that sort of thing. It's still not CD quality, but it can make a difference. Just email the files to me.

I went to two time share things and that was enough. The second one they took you to the place so you couldn't even leave without what ever they were giving away. I told my DH that he can go to those things alone for now one and that ended up being the last one. The salesman could tell that DH was cracking but I wasn't budging so he was working hard.
