The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Ugh! That's why I avoid these sales talks like the plague.

It reminds me of car shopping, which I hate too.

I remember the time when my parents went to Cancún and I warned no to accept anything "for free" in exchange to assist to a shares talk... have you heard those parents that complain their children won't listen to them? Well, parents don't listen to their children either :rotfl:

They lost almost a full day of their trip in a sales talk just for a free breakfast.

Well, as a parent, I can tell you that we know it all.

I don't remember if I wrote about it in my Vienna flashback TR, but your story reminds me of when Judy and I went through the Nashmarkt in Vienna. There were all these vendors with free samples that they would try to give you, particularly olives for some reason. And then I'd feel guilty that I didn't buy anything. I told myself to stop taking any so I wouldn't feel bad about not buying.

I just looked, I did write about that. Sorry to repeat a story. I must be getting old.

That story is why I run in the other direction from timeshare sales pitches....I've never seen one that offered enough incentive.:sad2:

There's no such thing as a free lunch!

I like the gimme my money....

They don't even bother with me...if they got a look at my credit rating they'd turn and run....and I would say "sucka"

Well, I wasn't going to leave without my money! :rotfl2: We'd definitely earned it!

I suppose my credit rating was okay at the time, but I easily knew how much money I had to work with for a purchase like that. It was a nice round figure.

Well I'm all caught up again. The flatulence laced banter had me cracking up. As to time shares, well, Papa would have been proud of your diligence.

I'm not sure if I dazzled them with numbers like your Papa used to do :teacher:, but since I came out with my wallet I guess I held my own.

Oh and Liesa, I CAN tell you that if you are on the bus and call a fellow DIS'er and hold up the phone so they can hear the music taunting them in the far away state of Texas, (Hi Jordan) the sound quality is surprisingly good. If you do go that route, I'll volunteer my services to try to sweeten up the audio a bit. We have a couple of programs I use at chruch for just that sort of thing. It's still not CD quality, but it can make a difference. Just email the files to me.

I have a feeling that offer will make her day. :yay:

I went to two time share things and that was enough. The second one they took you to the place so you couldn't even leave without what ever they were giving away. I told my DH that he can go to those things alone for now one and that ended up being the last one. The salesman could tell that DH was cracking but I wasn't budging so he was working hard.

Oh yeah, you've got to be together in your thinking when you're meeting with those guys. If they see one of you cracking, they'll go in for the kill. We discussed ahead of time that we were NOT buying a timeshare that day.

We've never done the whole timeshare pitch thing. I'd like to take the DVC tour just for fun (definitely not in the cards for us), but I'd probably be depressed afterwards! My MIL actually said she got to talking to someone at one of the kiosks who was trying desperately to get them to go on the tour...until she told them what they make each year. Then the guys suddenly had something else to do. I don't know - I've never heard anyone else tell a story like that, but she was pretty adamant. But stories like yours are why I stay away from those pitches!

I've heard that the DVC tour is a lot less pressure than these other places, but I never took the initial tour. No, I went online to try to see what the cost was and I saw they were building Kidani and that was basically it. We'd stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge back in 2001 when my parents had paid for the whole family to get together there, and we loved it. Oh, I did tour Bay Lake Tower last year and there was no pressure from our guide at the end.

As it did me. I guess I' m the odd princess out, cuz, frankly, I find it very funny!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

OK then Houston, (or close to it) we have an audio go! I bought an extra 4 gig SD card, but GB, will I need more to capture a good hours worth or more??

It should be more than enough. It mostly depends on the file format and bitrate. I'd test it - record a 6 min file, see how big it is and multiply by 10.

This is what I hear when I read that sentence....Blah.Blah.Blah..10.

Sorry, for hijacking, yet again, Glennbo!!

Yeah, I'm with ya Jordan. It was a stretch to even know the size of the card i had bought. :lmao: I'll do some checks here, and do what you say. To be honest, I don't even know how to download them off the card yet. Obviously I have a lot of practice to do yet!! ;)

my inlaws did the tour in hawaii and bought, worked out good for us, we get to go next year on there time share.
:thumbsup2

how is the DVC one, do you get some incentives for taking the tour.

When we stayed at AKL we got a flyer in our room stating that we would get a 100 $ Disney gift card for taking the DVC tour. I was a bit tempted but since I really did not want to buy DVC and really wanted to have the time for the parks, I did not go on the tour. I think I have also read that people got special fastpass tickets at the DVC tour.

I think per group. It seems that these flyers are regularly be found in the hotels and I think I read once that the amount on the flyer might depend on in which category of resort you are staying. I think someone reported that they took the tour with a flyer from POP and got 25 $ and then found a flyer at the deluxe resort to which they then moved and it was 100 $ there. If you don't have the flyer, it might be worth asking a housekeeper about it. :goodvibes

You are soooo lucky to have GB offer his assistance!

Uh-huh.

Is that word pronounced "bit-rate", "bi-trate", or "bi-tra-tay"?

No problemo.

I keep meaning to tryout GB's method for "stitching together" pictures into panoramas, but haven't done it yet. I think I went looking for the software once and didn't have much luck. What was the software you use GB? (Sorry, I know you've posted that upwards of a hundred times already.)

Those timeshare people sound dangerous!! :scared1:

Only dangerous if you cave-in. A timeshare can be a big "impulse buy". I'm not sure if you have that term in Germany, although I'm sure you do in some form. An example is how grocery stores put chewing gum and candy near the checkout line, so while you're standing there you go, "oh yeah, I need that", when you really didn't come into the store looking for those items.

That is great. I'd love to go to Hawaii.

In addition to what Magdalene mentioned below, I've heard you also get ice cream.

Yes, I think you get fastpass tickets for everyone in your party. It kind of makes up for the park time you missed.

I agree with Magdalene, I'm pretty sure it's per group. Although if you went with your parents I bet they'd give one to each household.

Thanks for the info. Magdalene!

thanks i do remember that when we were at all stars a few years ago i saw a 25 dollar one, i think we will have to ask this year, cause we are staying at FW and they dont have anywhere to leave the flyers at the campground.

free ice cream and my dad will do anything, ill just keep turning down what they offer and get them to up it,

"i will raise you your 25 dollar gift card and a free mickey ear, for a 50 dollar gift card, and a mickey ear and fruit pop" see if they go with those terms, i will turn and walk mid sentence if he says he cant do it.

:thumbsup2

You drive a hard bargain Dan. Is that just to take the tour, or to buy? I think the current incentive now is a Disney cruise.

You've got plenty of time to work the bugs out. Usually you just connect the phone via a USB cable. Some PC’s also have a a little slot the SD card plugs into and you can then just use Windows Explorer to copy them over. (Hold down the Windows Logo key there on the bottom row of your keyboard and type the letter E….Let go of both buttons…a window will pop up that lets you drag and drop files from the card to your hard drive.)

It’s not biggie really. The software does all the work. If anyone else needs assistance, just give a shout.

Is that word pronounced "bit-rate", "bi-trate", or "bi-tra-tay"?
I usually go with either bit-rate or Bertha Ray. Cause asking someone to ramp down their Bertha Ray is just plain entertaining.

No worries! It’s Windows Live Photo Gallery. The steps / link are posted on one of Jordan’s PTR’s. (CLICK HERE)

Launch control, this is Houston. We are go for launch. As long as it can record audio, you are golden. There may be a time limitation on how long you can record, so I'd do a few tests to see. Transfering the file is done the exact same way though. Either USB cable or card reader.
