The rest of the drive the following day was much more peaceful and on Sunday the 19th we finally got to Orlando and found the place wed be staying for a couple of days. This place was Sheratons old resort and was now dedicated to housing the guests who were there for a cheap room in exchange for a tour. The tours would take place at the nicer new resort. I guess what Im trying to say is that it was filled with people just like me, who were here just because it was cheap and were willing to make a deal with the devil to get a cheap place to stay in Orlando for a couple of days.
We found the building where we had to check-in and went inside. We were greeted with an absolute sea of people. I thought to myself, Welcome to Orlando. Get ready for masses of people, and lines, and velvet ropes. It took me the better part of an hour to work my way through the line to the front desk. Judy and the kids waited for me, but they at least got some free popcorn

and balloons to help them wait. Once at the desk, check-in went rather smoothly, we confirmed the date/time when wed take their tour, and we got our room keys. We made our way to our suite and were pleasantly surprised. It was a decent suite, with a small kitchen (that we wouldnt use, other than cold cereal), a living area, and two bedrooms.
After we unloaded the van we went over to the Yacht Club resort where PChef was greeting arriving consultants to let them know that we had arrived and to get our park tickets. We needed to upgrade them to add a couple of days. We were told that we had to do the upgrade at Port Orleans since we were going to be staying there. So we drove over to Port Orleans Riverside and went up to the front desk. After some computer keyboard tapping and wrinkled brows and cast member trips to the back office we were told that they couldnt help us. Since we werent checking-in to the resort until a couple of days later, they couldnt add park days to room keys which werent issued yet, and they sent us back over to the Yacht Club. My blood pressure was rising and I was fuming at getting the run-around.

Its one thing to get the run-around over the phone, but we were literally driving back and forth between these resorts, dragging the whole family, getting through the security guy at each resorts entrance, getting in lines, the whole thing, over and over. Eventually the cast member at the Yacht Clubs concierge desk was able to upgrade our tickets.
We went back to our resort and decided to find some food. It was well-past lunchtime. We were pretty close to Downtown Disney, at least as the crow flies, but I didnt know that and it was a straight shot up the road to Red Lobster, so thats where we ate lunch.
I always call it Dead Lobster. Maybe theyre not dead when you walk in and see them in the tank, but those guys are doomed. Anyway, after that we drove to a nearby mall to meet up with Judys sister and kids. We found them and walked around the mall for a while. I remember there was a saleslady outside of a store who had this head massager thing that was made from about five or six wires. We watched her use that thing on every willing passerby and even a few people she caught by surprise. All we could think was what a great way to spread lice. When we walked passed her we made sure she got nowhere near any of us with that thing. Then we ended up going to an Olive Garden for dinner before calling it a night. I think we just got salad and soup at Olive Garden and actually spent less there than our lunch at Dead Lobster.
Up to this point in this flashback TR weve been high on the scale of verbal descriptions and low on the visual. Well remedy that next time. On our first full day in Orlando, we paid a visit to Sea World.
