The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

that happened to us on 1 trip, we got back on that semis tail, and wrote down his info and company info my parents called them and they paid for the new window.

First, lucky you! Sounds great to spend a couple of long weekends at WDW.

Next, I love POR. If the rooms were bigger and could handle our family of 5, I wouldn't mind staying there every visit. In fact, I'm kind of bummed that we're not staying there at least a night this trip coming up. I'd love to catch the Yeehaa Bob show and then just stroll back to the room, rather than catching a couple of buses to get to Coronado Springs.

So, you've stayed in almost every Mod? How cool is that? What'd you think of Coronado Springs?

I stayed at CSR last August. If you look at my TR from then, I have a lot of pictures of the grounds and the new rooms. I wound up in the Rancho section. I think I like the decor of the Ranchos the best, but the location was awful. The grounds and the room were both beautiful, and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. The only thing I'd do differently is request a different section. The walk to and from El Centro and the pool was horrible in the August heat. Everything else I loved though! They have a sliding door (not curtain!) between the main room and the bathroom area. This was so great for me. I went with my brother, so I was able to get up and get ready and he stayed sleeping. Plus, when we changed to go to the pool, we could both have a decent amount of room to get ready.

Your pics of POR are gorgeous!!! Feels like I'm there again. :goodvibes

That is too funny about your daughter and the Christmas gift! :rotfl:

Ugh!! For two new vehicles in a row (several years apart), I had the rock thing happen to me. I hate rocks!!

POR is really a beautiful resort! Unfortunately the room decor is absolutely not my style... I am sorry that your Flashback TR is over, I really enjoyed it! But I am looking forward to your next TR which will hopefully start soon!! :goodvibes Your trip must already be approaching very fast?!

It was a moment that she had to admit that Dad was right, and oh that hurts.

:rotfl: You are so evil! :rotfl:

Great Flashback TR Glennbo123!

We (my mother and I) are already talking about our trip next year... seems like mom likes the idea of staying at POR... your pictures will definitively help to set the decision this weekend :thumbsup2

I didn't think I could do that since it wasn't really the truck's fault. Rocks happen.

Thanks! I went back and read/skimmed the whole TR. I learned a few things, like there are towels at the feature pool at CSR :thumbsup2 (I would have wondered that at some point, maybe not today, but soon), and not to ask Remy to dance, although we don't have an ADR at Chefs. Nice job on the TR. I have no idea why I never noticed your TR links before. :confused3 Sorry about that!

You made me think that I need to come up with some jokes for Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I could steal yours, but that'd be lame. Now that I said that, I'll probably end up doing that.

Thank you!

Curse you rocks!!!!

POR is really a beautiful resort! Unfortunately the room decor is absolutely not my style...

Even in the Magnolia Bend section? It's completely different than the Alligator Bayou section. Apparently I didn't take any pictures of the room back in '05.

I am sorry that your Flashback TR is over, I really enjoyed it! But I am looking forward to your next TR which will hopefully start soon!! :goodvibes Your trip must already be approaching very fast?!

Thanks. It'll probably be a few weeks before I start the next TR...gotta live it first.

You snuck a post in there on me Tribilín. I almost missed it.

Great Flashback TR Glennbo123!

Thanks Trib!

That's great! You'll love it. Very peaceful surroundings. Fun pool. YeeHaa Bob in the lounge at night, Wed-Sat.

When I was pondering beefing up my budget, everyone said I'd need more for adult bevs and souvies. Now you're telling me I need "a contingency" stash. Isn't getting another Lapu considered an emergency? :confused3;)

I totally forgot yesterday that I meant to comment on the christmas present story!

When Katharina and I were on our trip across the US in 1992 we ended up for the last two weeks with my aunt who lives close to San Francisco. We would take the BART into the city every day. One of our very last days we were at Fisherman's Wharf and we saw those really cute plushs of Bear Paddington and really wanted to get them. By that time we had already spent so much money on souvenirs that we could not really justify getting those. So we came up with the idea that we would buy one each and then pass them on to our mother after we got home for her to give them as a Christmas present to each other. Wow, were we surprised at Christmas!! We had forgotten all about it!

The nice thing is that this bear is the one souvenir from that trip that I still have! :goodvibes

Wow! So that's where they're from. I didn't remember this at all

oh, not the kind of contingency anyone wants to deal with! Big road trips do have a way of incurring extra car repairs....new shocks come to mind after our Grand Canyon trip.

SO funny about the Christmas present! My worry is that I'd forget I had it to give to the child. But I'm going to keep that in mind this trip.

What a pretty pretty resort.

Since everyone was still asleep, I took the opportunity to walk around the resort and take some pictures.
:cloud9: Thanks for that - I just love the POR/POFQ grounds!

It was a moment that she had to admit that Dad was right, and oh that hurts.
:rotfl: That it does!

About an hour from home a truck traveling in front of us threw a stone that hit our windshield with such force it sounded like a gunshot. After returning home we had to get the windshield replaced.
Ugh, how frustrating! :sad2:

I love the look of POR. It's my brother and sister-in-law's favorite resort. But we're in the same boat you are - three kids. We could stay in the Alligator Bayou section, but the decor there isn't quite my type, either. We'll have to see. Or, we just keep going to Disney with lots of other people like we are this time. DD has already started farming herself out to her grandparents' rooms for a few nights.

I'm the same way as eandesmom - I'd forget that I had the darn present, and find it when we were cleaning out the closet two years later! I've already done that once or twice, though never with something from Disney. That might help me remember...

Wow - it's almost time for my group to do on-line check-in! That means we're getting close, and so are you! I'm slowly getting things done. I've officially taken over the guest room with stuff for the trip. Almost there!

Are you saying that I've figured out that you can't be figured out? :rotfl2:

Yep, that's what I'm sayin. Although I have to hand it to you Glenn, you are pretty intuitive......for a man;)

I forget who posted that (maybe Marvali?) but I think they were talking about the breakfasts, when there are characters there.

Ahh, that makes sense.

Love that Lauren forgot all about the extra gift! That must have been a fun Christmas!

Great wrapup Glenn! Love the photos! The Christmas gift had me cracking up. That was awesome! Sorry about the windshield. That stinks. Def not the way you want to end your vacation. Looking forward to this year's jaunt through the World.

It's for unforeseen expenses....it sounds like you're already foreseein' another Lapu, so that needs to be in the budget on its own.

That's so funny! You two were creative problem solvers, for sure! I'm glad that my TR helped bring that memory to surface for you.

Wow! So that's where they're from. I didn't remember this at all

That's funny! :lmao: Do you at least remember that you got the bear from me?? :rolleyes1

I loved this exchange! :rotfl2:

oh, not the kind of contingency anyone wants to deal with! Big road trips do have a way of incurring extra car repairs....new shocks come to mind after our Grand Canyon trip.

Exactly.

SO funny about the Christmas present! My worry is that I'd forget I had it to give to the child. But I'm going to keep that in mind this trip.

We've done that, and given the gift the next Christmas, like a year+ later. Still works....usually.

What a pretty pretty resort.

It is!

:cloud9: Thanks for that - I just love the POR/POFQ grounds!

You're most welcome! Me too.

:rotfl: That it does!

Does Leo have any idea what he's in for?

Ugh, how frustrating! :sad2:

I guess things were going too well, up to that point.

they didnt think it would work either but they tried it and sure enough it did.

Huh. Thanks for the info. There'll probably be a "next time" and I'll try that out.

That 3 kids thing sure makes things difficult. We can usually farm one out on big extended family excursions, like weddings and such. But it's getting tricky for our nuclear family (yes, we glow) vacations.

I'm the same way as eandesmom - I'd forget that I had the darn present, and find it when we were cleaning out the closet two years later! I've already done that once or twice, though never with something from Disney. That might help me remember...

Like I said above, we've done that too.

10 days today! We are slowly not getting things done. Judy's new job will have her working up to the last minute. I see a late night packing, right before we have to get up very early to travel to the airport.

Yep, that's what I'm sayin. Although I have to hand it to you Glenn, you are pretty intuitive......for a man;)

I'll take that as a compliment, even with the qualification. :rotfl:

Love that Lauren forgot all about the extra gift! That must have been a fun Christmas!

Her facial expressions went through so many emotions....it was very funny.

You posted while in was in mid-massive-multiquote.

Thank you muchly! It was still a great, and very memorable vacation. It'll be interesting to see what stories this one brings.

I love those pictures of Riverside. Much nicer in daylight. I've only seen it at night time. By the looks of the sun, that family of yours was really sleeping in.

Not so great about that windshield incident. Those big trucks are a nuisance. At the very least, it wasn't a tire flying at you. Better a new windshield rather than something else....
