When I was pondering beefing up my budget, everyone said I'd need more for adult bevs and souvies. Now you're telling me I need "a contingency" stash. Isn't getting another Lapu considered an emergency?

It's for
unforeseen expenses....it sounds like you're already
foreseein' another Lapu, so that needs to be in the budget on its own.
I totally forgot yesterday that I meant to comment on the christmas present story!
When Katharina and I were on our trip across the US in 1992 we ended up for the last two weeks with my aunt who lives close to San Francisco. We would take the BART into the city every day. One of our very last days we were at Fisherman's Wharf and we saw those really cute plushs of Bear Paddington and really wanted to get them. By that time we had already spent so much money on souvenirs that we could not really justify getting those. So we came up with the idea that we would buy one each and then pass them on to our mother after we got home for her to give them as a Christmas present to each other. Wow, were we surprised at Christmas!! We had forgotten all about it!
The nice thing is that this bear is the one souvenir from that trip that I still have!
That's so funny! You two were creative problem solvers, for sure! I'm glad that my TR helped bring that memory to surface for you.
Wow! So that's where they're from. I didn't remember this at all
That's funny!

Do you at least remember that you got the bear from me??
I loved this exchange!
oh, not the kind of contingency anyone wants to deal with! Big road trips do have a way of incurring extra car repairs....new shocks come to mind after our Grand Canyon trip.
Exactly.
SO funny about the Christmas present! My worry is that I'd forget I had it to give to the child. But I'm going to keep that in mind this trip.
We've done that, and given the gift the
next Christmas, like a year+ later. Still works....usually.
What a pretty pretty resort.
It is!

Thanks for that - I just love the POR/POFQ grounds!
You're most welcome! Me too.

That it does!
Does Leo have any idea what he's in for?
Ugh, how frustrating!
I guess things were going too well, up to that point.
they didnt think it would work either but they tried it and sure enough it did.
Huh. Thanks for the info. There'll probably be a "next time" and I'll try that out.
I love the look of POR. It's my brother and sister-in-law's favorite resort. But we're in the same boat you are - three kids. We could stay in the Alligator Bayou section, but the decor there isn't quite my type, either. We'll have to see. Or, we just keep going to Disney with lots of other people like we are this time. DD has already started farming herself out to her grandparents' rooms for a few nights.
That 3 kids thing sure makes things difficult. We can usually farm one out on big extended family excursions, like weddings and such. But it's getting tricky for our nuclear family (yes, we glow) vacations.
I'm the same way as eandesmom - I'd forget that I had the darn present, and find it when we were cleaning out the closet two years later! I've already done that once or twice, though never with something from Disney. That might help me remember...
Like I said above, we've done that too.
Wow - it's almost time for my group to do on-line check-in! That means we're getting close, and so are you! I'm slowly getting things done. I've officially taken over the guest room with stuff for the trip. Almost there!
10 days today! We are slowly not getting things done. Judy's new job will have her working up to the last minute. I see a late night packing, right before we have to get up very early to travel to the airport.
Yep, that's what I'm sayin. Although I have to hand it to you Glenn, you are pretty intuitive......for a man
I'll take that as a compliment, even with the qualification.
Love that Lauren forgot all about the extra gift! That must have been a fun Christmas!
Her facial expressions went through so many emotions....it was very funny.
