The most annoying or aggravating thing you see at WDW.....get your flames ready!

It annoys me when people think they're in acting class...for example, in line for Soarin, I was by myself in the standby line. Thats a really wide queue and these two guys walk by on the right slowly passing as many people as they can and 'act' like they were there to begin with as they cut. Just like when people push their way in to your spot waiting for the parade "acting" like they don't hear or see you and just push their way in. You can tell sometime whether people are actually aware and just acting like they're not, in order to do what they want to do.

........I'm a smoker, and it bothers me when other smokers put out their cigarette on the ground. There are ashtrays EVERYWHERE in the smoking area. How hard is it to walk 3 feet to put your cigarette in the ashtray?..............

This is a excellent gripe! Why do people feel it is ok to put out cigarettes on the ground and leave them there? It is almost like they think "it is small no big deal". Well they add up!! And how is this any different than me having a soda, throwing the cup on the ground, smashing it with my foot and leaving it there?:confused3

The thing that aggarvates me is when I get to an attraction and there are other people in front of me. Don't they know how special I am. I shouldn't have to wait. I could be in and out of the park in two hours if it weren't for those other people making me wait. Also, at least half of those people are minors. I can't believe they let underage people in the parks.

LOL! :rotfl: There's just too many people, not just in WDW but everywhere, who seem to think that a public space is actually an extension of their own private space where they have the right to anything they want.

I have to say, the last time I was in WDW was 17 years ago, I was looking forward to my 1st trip with my kids but this thread is making me wonder--has WDW turned into the grumpiest place on earth?

My WDW pet peeve is people waiting for their fast pass return times to roll around while standing directly in front of the fast pass entrance. It looks like there is a line but it's a big group of people just waiting for another 10 or 15 minutes to pass. Move aside and let folks who are actually within their fast pass time window through!

I think a lot of problems could be solved if the ECVs were geared down such that their maximum speed was equal to a slow walk. This would allow new users to be better able to handle the things. Why do ECVs need to go fast?

  • People walking side by side, spread-out, so that they take up 90% of the walkway.
  • People pushing strollers into me or letting their kids push the stroller into me.
  • People talking and disturbing others during a ride or show when it is inappropriate to do so.
    :surfweb:

  • I agree with these and add the over use of strollers now. There are just too many strollers. It was so much nicer even just a few years ago when people used common sense on who NEEDs a stroller.

I can add the leashes on kids, hate them.

I get annoyed when parents let kids climb on the rails in the queues. you stay on your side, and i will stay on mine!

On the ECVs note. While people should be more considerate and more careful, please do not make assumptions about why someone is using an ECV. I am only 22, and i look young, fit, and (sure, i'll say it) attractive. yet I cannot walk around disney. i have several chronic medical conditions which leave me disabled. my mother looks overweight, but this is a result of several abdominal surgeries, and she cannot walk long due to a joint condition.

and to those who say that people who switch off in the ECVs are obviously lying, think again. my mother and i may switch next time we are there. there are three reasons for this.
1) We can each walk a little, but we cannot do it all!
2) Two ECVs will not fit in most hotel rooms, so we cannot rent more than one of them if we stay on property. And have YOU ever tried to transport a ECV? They weigh several hundred pounds.
3) Two ECVs on property cost $80 a day. We cannot afford several hundred dollars just to be able to get around.

when you see someone in an ECV and you think they do not need it, consider for a moment why they might need it. You should not be criticizing them, but thanking God/karma/fate/whatever that you CAN walk. I used to be a competitive runner, and now i cannot get to the bathroom without a cane. i am watching my body literally tear itself apart by even moving. now, i do not mind using an ECV or wheelchair, but it hurts me when people make assumptions.

No offense, OP, but why start a post that puts the focus on negatives? Several of the responses, including your own, could be hurtful to others reading this.
For example, in some cases you can't tell just by looking that someone has a disability other than being overweight. I am sure there are overweight people that use scooters for that reason, but how do you know that person doesn't have a heart condition, or rheumatoid arthritis, or bad knees? And the comment that fat people shouldn't ride the Main Street cars to the castle, I mean come on!!! That was just plain mean-spirited!!!
And the "strollers with no kids" thing...I doubt many people would want to haul a stroller just to haul their stuff. It's more likely the child just wanted to walk for a bit, so why not put your stuff in there?
I know, I don't have to read it but it's like a car accident. Ya gotta look.

Well said!

People who wait five minutes before a parade or show starts, and then expect me to give up my spot when I've been there for up to an hour.

Me too! this really gets me  that people are this inconsiderate. Also can't stand pool hoppers and people who drive ECV and beep the horn continously when the mad rush is trying to exit after fireworks. A few people who drive them are just aggressive and will run into with them if you don't get the heck out of their way  .

also, on the strollers thing, people may not be able to carry the things they need in the park (life medical equipment), so they rent a stroller to push. it costs much less than a wheelchair, and allows them to go places they would not otherwise be able to go. Have you ever tried carrying an oxygen tank around (even the little one)?

I completely agree that ECV's should be geared down to a normal walking speed....the woman that ran over that little girl that I mentioned in my last post was going WAY TOO FAST! Even though the girl did run in front of her - if she had not been a speed demon she would more than likely have been able to stop in time.
There is no reason that I can think of where one would need to go faster than a walk in WDW...someone can correct me though if I am wrong.

A lot of our pet peeves seem to be based on assumptions about the other person. The extremely overweight person in the ECV may have gained the weight after a disability took away their ability to walk for more than short stretches. The person sitting on the bus while you stand may have a heart condition, or arthritis, or any of a number of other problems that you can't see. The person taking the elevator may have bad ankles or knees. Since we don't know the other person's medical history, maybe we could give them the benefit of the doubt.

On the other hand, I can't think of a single excuse for spitting on the ground. :maleficen

Or peeing in the bushes. Or littering. Or smoking in non-smoking areas. Or cutting in line.

This is a good post. A lot of disabilities are invisible, and some weight gain can be related to those disabilities. You can't judge a stranger and his whole health history by merely walking past him on Main Street.

My DM is in a wheelchair, a manual one, and my pet peeve is that people don't see her. I've been standing right next to her with my other DS's, waiting for a parade, and watched as people jumped right in front of her chair, swinging their backpacks into her face. Or in a queue, where they stand so close to her that her nose is practically in their rumps. Or when they TOUCH HER CHAIR. I've seen people actually LEAN on her chair. Um, a wheelchair is an extension of the person sitting in it, it's not a prop. Or when people don't speak to her, but direct questions solely to the person pushing the chair, as if my college educated Mother lost not only her mobility, but also all her intelligence. It's very sad, and she deals with this every day, not just as WDW.

Oh, and people yelling at their kids for not wanting to go on rides, or being too short, or for having a meltdown. Parents should spend 5 minutes learning something about what is age appropriate behavior for their children, and then set their expectations and THEIR behavior. Don't keep a 5 year old out all day, then yell at her for being whiney in the afternoon - she needs a nap. Don't keep your 2 year old in a stroller all day then yell at her because she runs down the road the second you set her free - children need exercise. Things like that. Most of the yelling parents do to their kids comes from the child is acting in an age appropriate manner, and the parents not understanding that, and wanting them to behave in a non age appropriate manner (usually much older).

KC:)

Wow.. I can't believe some of the nasty comments here. And I didn't even read all of the pages!!!

It's amazing comments like that come from people who want to experience the most magical place around and they can't take two seconds to be nice to someone else.

That's sad.

And who am *I* to judge why someone has an ecv or wheelchair? How could that possibly affect my enjoyment of the park.

And if someone bumps into me, so what. I'm not at the park to try to parent everyone. Things happen sometimes. And yes, people are rude sometimes.. they can't all be perfect like me. :lmao:

Now, please read my original thread. I clearly stated that "people who dont have a physical ailment" and "are enormously overweight." OF course, there would be people who may be overweight that DO have physical ailments that should be in a scooter. My post wasn't aimed at them....

My answer to people complaining is "Universal" is down the road.

Adapt to it all. I'm fat but I walk around but people look at me differently, I ignore them.

Absolutely nothing. When I'm in WDW I don't let anything bother me. I'm there to have fun and, by golly, I'm not going to let anyone or anything bug me. No complaining is allowed.

and how do you know they do not have a physical ailment. Did you give them a physical.

Don't judge people till you walked in there shoes.

have a great vacation and don't worry about others.

People who do not give you enough personel space in line. They are practically on top of you. Everyone will get a chance on the rides why do they have to be so close.:upsidedow

Well, you obviously can't tell if a person has a physical disability just by looking at them and being overweight does not necessarily mean laziness.

Why spend your vacation looking for things to get annoyed about or worrying about other people and their personal enjoyment. Try not to be so judgemental.
