The problem with counter service in the Parks is that they're ALOT of work for the parent (DISCLAIMER: this probably applies more to families with younger kids). One parent holds a table with the kids, the other parent has to order, get the condiments while balancing 2 trays of food and drink through millions of wandering people. Find the table, then sort out everyone's meal. But the time I sit down, I'm so fustrated from the long lines, I don't even enjoy my meal.
With the Deluxe, we are going to start doing more TS b-fasts in the parks and make our reservations for before the park opens. We did this last month with CRT and being there an hour before everyone was a great way to start a day.
Then for lunch to CS at the resort and back to a park for TS dinner. We are firm believers of park breaks. Disney will always be there, but our kids won't be young forever. YMMV
See, that's my issue with CS. For me, the Deluxe plan is the end of us going to any CS, period. It's too much of a hassle.
I can tell you, some of the better CS restaurants can get pretty competitive when it comes to getting a seat. First of all, you look up to peruse the menu, knowing that every second you spend looking at it may prevent you from getting a table that is half-way decent.
Next, the wife and kids scramble for a table. You are trying to keep watch on where they are going so you won't lose them.
Then, you order. And wait. And pick the food up.
Next, you are balancing the two trays full of food, thinking that due to the fact that it is so crowded with kids running everywhere, you are just bound to drop this food. Oh, and you are trying to find out where your family are. They are yelling at you, but you can't hear them because it's so noisy. Finally, when you do see them (at the table, outside, by the trash can); you finally sit down to eat. A burger and fries. Or sandwich. Or pizza.
Now with TS, I don't have to go through that. That's why I like the Deluxe plan. Not because of the cost savings. (If I wanted cost savings, I would get a suite with a kitchen and hit a grocery store before I check-in.) I want the convenience of eating at a TS with every meal.
