The Middle impressions

I had never watched The Middle before, but after watching this episode I have to check it out. :rotfl2: Too funny!

My kiddos were watching it with me and when the family walked out of the park without riding any rides my son told me to pause the show.:rotfl2:

He turned and looked at me with the straightest face possible and said, "That is NOT going to happen to us when we go to Disney World!!!" :lmao::lmao: He was absolutely horrified at the thought of being at Disney World and not riding any rides. This could work to my advantage when I am trying to wake them up in the mornings. I can say "Do you want to miss all the rides like on The Middle?":scared:

Maybe I misheard because I was multitasking but I thought when Sue answered the phone she stated the name of the hotel. I thought Axl also mentioned it or part of it when they all slept in the next day.

I think Sue said "villa" but they never mentioned the Grand Floridian. It was indeed one of the Grand Villas at the Grand Floridian. Toured the new villas last month, they are so gorgeous!!

They also won one night in a hotel along with the tickets.
(Or, did they get the one night in the hotel for their troubles?)

They won a two day, one night trip, so two park days and one night in a hotel. I thought it was pretty funny, but was surprised that Disney didn't put more shots of them using the magic bands and FP+.

I think she called it Grand Something, but not Grand Floridian. I think "Grand Fairview" or something close like that.

I loved it. Sue is my spirit animal!! I'm way too invested in her happiness, LOL!!
I've actually had nightmares that our trip will turn out like theirs...the whole never being able to ride a ride thing, just aimlessly wandering. *shudder*

I do agree with those who wished they'd have left out the part about Brick's girlfriend. It didn't really "go" with the rest of it.

Now I want to make shirts for our trip that say, "Makin' Memories Thompson Family Style" and "Don't Heck it up!"

LOL! I would LOVE to have a t-shirt like that! That line cracked me up! And yes of course the Hecks "Hecked it up"...that's what they do! Sue is one of my favorite characters on television....we have a 14 year old daughter that is just like her!

I am a commando tourer, and it was literally one of the most uncomfortable things I have sat through, to watch them wander around the parks for a whole day and not ride anything. It was like watching "Saw" level uncomfortable. I'm not joking.

My DD was getting annoyed at times and what you stated is probably why. She did point out, that we do take the shampoo and when she becomes famous, she will have a big table in her house just like Axl and not use it. Also, my other DD asked if she could take the spare roll of toilet paper, because she was out at her apartment.

I've never heard of/seen this show until I saw this thread. I went and watched the DW season finale online out of curiosity.

Honestly, the whole episode made me feel anxious, especially since I've actually had dreams (nightmares?) where we seem to waste the whole day at Disney World with one setback or another.

No reason to get upset about it not being real Disney. It's a sitcom... fiction. This episode wasn't about a behind the scenes look at the parks. ADRs, long lines... not reality television or a documentary. Little bit up publicity for WDW and a sitcom.

I did like seeing the extras - people looking at maps, etc and then in the way background you could see security and CM holding people back behind the rope. It was most notable when they were in the gift shop. People were walking by on the sidewalks, but behind that were people standing there looking inside the store.

As I mentioned, the show, "The Middle" is distributed by Disney, not produced by, so my guess is that the shows owners got permission to shoot at WDW but didn't want to advertise for Disney.

The cast pulls up to an Orlando sign in their car, not the WDW sign.

They don't mention FP+ or MDE.

They don't mention the resort villa that they are staying in and only show a couple of rooms, not the resort or view from the balcony.

The recorded announcement heard as they are leaving the park isn't a Disney announcement.

The first aid room and the guest relations room were sets not the actual rooms at WDW.

The first time I watched it I thought it was great! The second time I just got annoyed. In all Sue's planning, she didn't plan fast passes? They didn't just go back in after accidentally leaving? (Before the fireworks.). They slept until 3 pm? Had a table service meal in France with no ADR? Watched Illuminations from an empty bridge? I wish there had been more Disney too and less "driving to see a strange girl". I also noticed the magic bands in all the scenes....

I liked seeing the inside of the villa and I liked the bonding at the end. :)

Why didn't Sue plan Fastpasses? I wondered too, then figured she probably planned with a guidebook from 1997.

Your other points I agree with...Why not go back in after leaving? As concerned about money as they are, and they casually had a TS meal in France?

I agree with everyone about the NC girlfriend. It didn't fit. It took up time, and I thought it made the pace of the rest of the episode awkward.

Overall, we found the show really funny.

All they won was the tickets (to Disneyland).
They were pixie dusted into the suite, because no Garden View (I assume that is lowest level- that's usually what hotels call their parking lot views...) rooms were available.

I'm really surprised that the show didn't say where the hotel room was. How can people go book it? Pretty awful advertising! (I actually liked that this seemed to be a typical Middle episode set in Disney, rather than a Disney commercial using the Middle characters.)

If all they won was the tickets, then even the garden view room at GF would be out of the Hecks reach, they start at $550 per night.

I think its a good thing they showed long lines. Part of guests having a great time is realistic expectations. The first time we went we went with the idea of 90 minute wait times, we were there in late Oct had had about 30 minute waits so we thought it was great. If we had done the opposite we probably wouldnt have had such a great time.

Well that makes sense.

It's the new Disney. It's not about the rides. ;)

:rotfl2:

Yes, it was a great demonstration of the new "crowd management" - instead of riding rides, you, too, can spend time at Guest Services and the First Aid Station….that's ONE way of keeping the lines down!! :lmao:

We don't normally watch the show, but the kids and I watched the show and got a good laugh. Did anyone else notice that when they showed the three kids on rides, they were on Splash Mtn at MK, then Test Track at EP, then Little Mermaid at MK? Then they showed up with their parents in EP. Bugged me that they couldn't at least put the rides in the correct order!

And that Orlando sign scene looked like it was shot somewhere else, they got the sign right,I know that exact sign is on Turkey Lake rd near Universal but the whole scenery around it looked like someplace else.
