Day 7, Part 3 in which KRINGLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just as we were exiting Mexico, I noticed these dragons sticking off the side of a building (of course being that it was a year and 3 months ago I can not remember exactly where - next time I am taking SUCH better TR notes!)...
And they totally reminded me of these dragons that are at the end of Hollywood Blvd at MGM...
See the resemblance? Kind of? OK! Well, next we found ourselves in
NORVAY! Which always needs to be written in caps, with a V, just so you know. Its true, I learned it in school.
We have an inside joke about the bakery here, and how could we not? Its called KRINGLA Bakery og Cafe. Things that sound like that cant just be said like they are normal words.
First of all, the words KRINGLA and OG are just funny, ok? Admit it. Secondly, saying them in a thick, manly
Norveigan accent makes them even funnier so naturally my mom and I bellow KRINGLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every time we pass by.
And you should too.
We went in this time because I wanted to try the ever-popular School Bread Ive heard so much about. It comes with coconut on top (which Im not a big fan of) but I read in someones TR that they made it without it for her, so I was going to ask. Everything looked really good, but I just wasnt in the mood for something sweet right then so my mom just got a coffee (which she loved) and into the Stave Church we went. But I WILL try the School Bread one of these days!
I love it in there because its always so calm and quiet and AIR CONDITIONED! Which is important. I love that there are still quiet little semi-hidden places like this at Disney. You can learn something in there and it isnt filled with PRESENTED BY KODAK signs and so on. Im not one to complain about product placement b/c I know it makes the world go round and everything, but its just nice when all that is elsewhere and you can chill for a second.
After that, we looked around the shop. I may have a kissed a troll. Who can be sure?
While touring the World Showcase, it is very important to make fun of all the candy names that sound funny to you. Have you guys ever been to Ikea? Oh my God, my mom and I have a field day in there. We visit often, not so much to shop as much as to mock everything and eat the Swedish chocolate.
This goes without saying, but we ran around saying DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM!!!!!!!!!! for a good long while. All jokes aside, Daim is actually really good. In fact, it's DAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIM good. And Firklover - I'm not even gonna touch that one. This is a family board.
The other thing that really made me laugh was NON STOP
I can't even explain why. It's hilarious though. NON STOP!!!!!!!!
My favorite scent of ALL TIME is Laila: Essence of
NORVAY! (troll sold separately) which is sold here. It is my favorite and yet I have never purchased it or worn it on a daily basis.
I feel like its almost too special to integrate into my daily life. Because if I do that, the smell will remind me of normal things like going to work. Right now, when I smell it, I am taken back to Disney World, and it makes me happier than you can imagine. Back in 2002, I sprayed the perfume on one of those sample cards and stuck it in my Hidden Mickey book. The smell is STILL there 9 years later! Any time I need a little Disney, I go over, open the book, and stick my face inside. Instant happiness! If I wore it all the time it would become too familiar, but who knows, maybe someday!
In the window of the shop, I saw this:
OMG!! The Time Warp Trio! When I was a kid, Jon Scieszka was one of my favorite authors. He wrote the AWESOME "The Stinky Cheese Man... and Other Fairly Stupid Tales" and then went on to the Time Warp Trio and I just loved them, so it was so cool to see that at Disney!
We didnt go on Maelstrom b/c quite frankly the part where the trolls almost knock you backwards off the cliff scarred me for life as a child. Naturally, I was not so much listening to the voice over as I was relentlessly mocking it... and I thought the ride was just malfunctioning. Every time I go on I am sure that my death is imminent.
Does anyone remember the whole Maelstrom
IS A FASTPASS?!?! thing from like a million years ago? Oh man, I miss Mels trip reports. There were neverending jokes about how everyone would RUSH through the Epcot gates in order to get a FASTPASS for Maelstrom RIGHT AWAY!!!
You know, because of the overwhelming popularity of this ride.
Duh.
Ah well, off to China we went!
I just say China the normal way everyone says it.
Their language is nowhere near as funny as that of
NORVAY!
Plus they have awesome food. And tea. I cant mock the people who make my Won Ton Soup. That would just be wrong. AND they do morning workouts outside on the streets in groups.
Thats one of the only things I remember from 9th grade History.
Everything else, WHOOSH!
Right over my head.
If only I could log information I learned in school as well as I could with Disney facts. I'd be running Apple by now!!
ANYWAY.
Here we were in China. Its one of the most beautiful pavilions in my opinion. We spent a looooot of time here.
We checked out the shop first. I was super excited because I could not remember ever exploring the shops in China. But once I did, I regretted not having a separate savings account titled: Money to spend in China. Actually, I want to do that with every country, but I don't want my bank to think that I'm an international spy. Or maybe... I just don't want them to FIND OUT that I am?!?! You didn't hear that!
I'm...not too sure what this is. I think it's little soaps? I remember wanting to get it but ultimately did not. I love the little dishes.
Which animal of the zodiac are you? I'm a horse. If you don't know, you can find out outside, but we'll get to that in a minute...
So I knew I really wanted to buy a Maneki Neko AKA a Lucky Cat in Japan, but then I saw them here, so I figured I was remembering the origin of the Lucky Cat wrong. Turns out I WASN'T, Disney was wrong! It's a Japanese thing and is often incorrectly labeled the Chinese Lucky Cat!! TAKE THAT DISNEY!!!!!! ALL THOSE BILLIONS AND YOU HAVE THE LUCKY CATS IN THE WRONG STORE!!! I DEMAND A FREE MEAL AT LE CELLIER!!!
Or just a reservation? Please?
Well anyway, if you don't know what a Lucky Cat is, they are these little cat sculptures that are supposed to bring you good luck. You can buy one thats just kind of an overall good luck charm, or if you want to be specific, they have ones for money, health, career success, love etc.
I chose success. Love and health? WHO NEEDS IT?
Really.
I want to be a supastah.
A year and three months later
it has not worked.
UNLESS the reason I havent posted pictures of myself or my mom is that I am secretly Lady Gaga.
You never know.
Am I an international spy... or Lady Gaga... or Lady Gaga, the international spy?
You will never learn the truth.
SO anyway
It may not have worked like a charm, but I still believe in the Lucky Cat.
Mostly because it looks really cute on my desk.
Cats are cute, you know? Bottom line. In the pic below, you can see some of the lucky cats lined up in between the Buddhas as the CM is ringing mine up.
My mom also bought this little red envelope for like .50 cents I think? If you put a little bit of money in there, and keep it in your wallet, it's supposed to bring you a lot of money.
So basically we just fall for all of Disney's ploys for our money is what I'm saying.
The envelope has not worked. Heh heh. BUT... I mean. Got no diamonds, got no yacht... still I'm happy with what I got! I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night!!!!!!
Sorry, I often break out into song.
We went outside and took some photopass pics, which ended up being some of my favorite of the trip. I took a bunch of pics too, but nowhere near enough (next trip I am taking like 32984293 so GET READY!)
They have all the different animals of the Zodiac around the pond. Like I said, Im a horse! I'd rather be, like, an angry tiger or something but at least I was SOMETHING - my mom couldn't find hers! She was born in 1963. We searched and searched... nothing! Hmmm.
Being that I am self centered, I only took a picture of myself, the horse:
So, are these things about me accurate? Well, I DO have a large capacity for hard work IF I am passionate about what I am doing and only then. When it comes to singing/dancing/acting, I will work on something for days with barely any sleep. I am definitely my own person in my own world. Obviously, I am extremely intelligent, you know that from reading this TR. It is also true that I can be selfish. Do I have an ego? Well, besides proclaiming my intelligence on the DIS, I think no. I am the first to admit that I would rather be home in my pajamas eating a hot pocket and watching Gilmore Girls than doing most other things. I am DEFINITELY an adventurer, I have an insatiable appetite for new and exciting things. A scientist? LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Funny joke, that. No. Poet? I am a songwriter. I think I would rock as a politician, actually, but I would never go that way in life.
Ok guys, that's it for now... I am totally going to try to update more often cause guess what!!!!!!!! I'M GOING TO START A PTR SOON!!! Woooooo!!!!!
Up next: I meet my German love match... again.
