With so many older tv shows coming out on DVD, I can't understand why more seasons of the The Mary Tyler Moore Show aren't on DVD. I have the first season, but as far as I know, there are no plans for further seasons. There are a few episodes on VHS, and I have all those.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show is one of my all time favorite sit-coms. When I was in high school in the early seventies, I couldn't wait for the weekly episode. Mary, Rhoda, Lou, Ted, Maury; they were the best.
One of my favorite episodes was the one where Mary wouldn't reveal her news source, so she ended up spending a night in jail with a couple of bimbos. And of course, the Chuckles funeral episode, (Chuckles Bites the Dust), was a classic!
This sounds pretty pathetic now, but when I was younger I wanted to BE Mary Richards. I told my parents that when I graduated from high school I was going to move to Minnesota, work in a newsroom, and drive a Mustang. And I SO wanted her apartment! I even had a coat and hat like she wears in the opening credits. My brothers STILL make fun of me about that!
