The MARCH of the Ducks!

Hi Team:wave2:

Just reporting my totals for last week--March 8-14
18.6 miles(includes double miles for St. Patrick's Festival 5k on Sat.):thumbsup2
4hrs

7 rounds on the heavy bag with pushups in between rounds. ;)

What constitutes a round? I have an instructor at my local fitness center, that occasionally has a class, usually called circuit training, which involves 4-5 minutes at various 'stations', one of them sometimes being boxing the heavy bag. Wow! What a workout that is!
Then sometimes we box at her....she's holds either a big rectangular foam pad that we box, or even harder...big, flat hand held pads, that she moves around as we try and box them. Whew! I'm tired just thinking about it.

I use basic 3-minute rounds with a 1-minute rest period. However, during the rest period I do as many pushups as I can do.

Here's a good site. Ross Training

Thanks for the link.
The first time I did a heavy bag workout, I was amazed at what a great workout it could be.

Vic, I noticed in your signature a quote from John Force. Are you a drag race fan? I follow it fairly well, always try to go to Englishtown. Last year I planned a trip to DW to coincide with the Gatornationals.

The C-130 pic is cool also, I worked on them some time ago. The ones I worked on were a little 'special' as well.

The days are getting nicer here, still cool in the morning but the afternoons are nice. Today was the first time I have ridden my road bike since November. I usually do my commute on an old mountain bike that I set up for commuting, so the road bike was a nice change.

Have a nice day! Liz, are you at Disney yet?

I follow NASCAR and NHRA. We went to Daytona this year. Maybe we'll make it to Gainesville one of these days. Heck, it's only a 5-hour drive.

The 130 in my avatar is an MC-130E Combat Talon. I have 4000 hours of 130 time as a radio operator. EC, HC, JC, MC, and 24 hours of AC-130 Gun Pig time.

Glad to hear your weather is improving.

EC, HC, JC, MC, and 24 hours of AC-130 Gun Pig time.

Remember when you were little and your parents would spell things so you wouldn't know what they were talking about? :confused3 Well, I don't know what EC, HC, JC, and MC are, but is they are anything like O-R-E-Os, I want some!!!

So, is the plan now to ghet all the Ducks into boxing so we can beat up anyone who gets in our way? because I have a beef with a woman and a stroller from the last race, and I'd be glad to be able to settle the score.

That is what I worked on. 555 and 551 (and one other) at RMAB. We maintained the FLIR system. Never flew in those particular ones, but flew in some regular ones all over Europe. And a little beyond once.

Vic and Bryan seems both of you follow Nascar. Who are your drivers.

I was at Rhein Main from 87-90. Triple nickle is my favorite (It's still flying). I have a drawing of it hanging in my office. I snagged it during one of our spring getaways at RAF Sculthorpe.

Erica - If we told you what those designations meant, we'd have to shoot you. Military secrets and all that kind of stuff. :cool2: ;) :)

Rich - Why Dale Jr. of course! :thumbsup2

:)

That is pretty interesting that it is still flying. Lots of hours on those birds! I was there from 73 to 75. Though my orders said I was to be in the 7th SOS I wound up with the 322 FMS. I did play soccer while there and one on my teammates was a navigater in the 7th. I really enjoyed it over there.

I do not really follow NASCAR much. One of the things I like about NHRA is the closeness to everything you get while walking through the pits. Nothing like standing so close to a TF or FC while being warmed up, and when the driver whacks the throttle, you better have your ears covered! A nice side trip from WDW is to go to the Garlit's museum in Ocala.

All of the birds that are still flying fly out of Duke Field. I see them quite often on my ride home in the afternoons.

We've been to Big Daddy's museum. Cool place. I liked the trophy wall. Man, he won a lot of races!

Here are a few pics of my man cave. If you look closely you'll see some FCs and TFs. Also, Arnie Beswick's Pro Mod GTO is in the second pic.

An innocent hobby gone terribly wrong. :rolleyes1 :confused3 :lmao:

Vic Is that a hobby or an obsession?:lmao: Nice collection but wow!!! I am impressed.

Rich I like a lot of guys on the Circuit but my favorites are the older guys. My favorites were the Alabama Gang from the 80's. The ones I pull for now are Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip. I also pull for a lot of the Ford drivers since I drive a Fusion. But, like I said, I want some of the older guys to win some races so the young kids won't be so dominate. Reminds me of the glory days of Nascar.

Team I know I haven't been around much this week. There has been a lot of stuff going on at work and at home. Stress levels have been high and it has just made it where I haven't been very upbeat. I am sorry for staying away as you guys are my motivation and I can't thank you enough for what you all mean to me!!!:grouphug: I am trying to get things under control and hopefully soon it will be. I know I have tomorrow off to rest from work and then, I am on for the next 7 days straight. Something tells me that next week will be a little stressful as well. I will still be getting in my gym time and my miles one way or another. My miles are probably going to come down some as I am doing more running than I have been. I really want to do good in my next race so I am really focusing on training hard for it. I will let you know how it progresses.

Thanks everyone! Keep up the excellent efforts!!!:cheer2:
Bryan

good evening, duckies, and happy end of thed week!

Vic: That room is, um, something. I actually felt a wave of relief when i spotted your framed medal and the grumpy doll (or is it an action figure?) -- something familiar I could understand. Kinda like the McDonald's in Red Square...

Bryan:  Hope your life becomes less stressful soon, but don't feel the need to stay away just because you are stressed! I think a lot of us can relate to stressful stuff going on at work these days.

Liz: Hope you are feeling better every day!

and Betsy: Just wanted to do a quick shout out to thank you for dealing with the numbers and spreadsheets! Hope your toe is healing well.

And with that said, here are my numbers for the week.

4.5 hours
44.7 miles

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still waiting for spring to really kick in here, though at least it isn't snowing like it was the first day of spring!

Vic, that is SOME manroom!

Here are my hours/miles for the week, a combinations of walking and cross training:
540 minutes 26 miles

Warmer weather gets me going. I was able to bike to work and that really bumps my numbers.

410 minutes
40.8 miles

Ronda

Hello Ducks! I think the boards were down for a while, yesterday when I tried to go on the site never even opened. Looks like it is working again.

Vic, that is one nice room! my 'cave' leans more to the workshop motif, lots of tools and some machine tools, both for metal and wood.

Rhonda, good to hear you are biking to work!

So, for mileage this week, my numbers are 157 miles total (2 are running, kind of an imbalance there, you think?) and the time is 9 hours and 55 minutes. I will donate one day's commute to Liz, so take 25 off of that and add to her total, please.

I hope everyone has a great week! Especially those down in DW! I have another 8 weeks to wait for my trip there.

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Please join us on the 'Ohana team thread for the Monday Mixer. The Mixer starts here.

There are many reasons why we race. Sometimes it's a way to challenge ourselves. Sometimes it's a strategy to keep ourselves motivated. Sometimes it's a reason to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's about the goodies. :teeth:

This week's question is about those goodies:

What is your favorite medal/t-shirt/race-bag goody, and WHY?

So come on over to 'Ohana. Share with us your favorite pictures and stories. Brag about the bling. If you haven't done a medal-awarding event, tell us about a shirt. If you love a particular expo, we want to know why. And if you're new to races, visit anyway. You can get some ideas for future races and "ooh" and "ahhh" over the pretty, shiny things.

On a more serious note: Two of our 'Ohana cousins, Maria and Richard, could use some extra hugs, well wishes, and PD this week. If you've got the time, please let them know you're thinking of them.

Hey team! Things are looking good for this week's numbers already. You are all getting out there and doing fantastic!! It is really inspiring! My miles are going to stay down for a couple of weeks while I train for the half that I am doing on April 11. I am really wanting to PR this race so I am spending more time out jogging than I have in the past.

My miles are:
Miles - 92 (Donate 12 to Liz, please Betsy.)
Hours - 16.25

Ronda Way to go on biking to work!! Wonderful exercise and saves money at the same time.

Sharon Excellent job for the week! You are staying so consistant week in and week out. Fantastic!!

Augie 8 weeks, huh? I was just asking my manager when I would be able to take some time off. Right now, there is no break in sight so I can honestly say, I am jealous.

Erica Thanks for the kind thoughts. There are a lot of things going on but, I am sure no more than what anyone else is going through. Just one of those times where it seems like everything is hitting at the same time. I'll be ok. I just need a day where I can get away and relax for a while. Hopefully, that day will come soon. By the way, you did get the last movie quote so it is your turn unless you want me to try to come up with another.

Hope everyone has a great week! Look forward to seeing everyone on the mixer tomorrow!

Bryan:cheer2::yay::woohoo:

Vic That is a lot of collecting. I'm a Hendricks guy Always a Gordon and Johnson fan. I've been to a few tracks and have plans with DB to see some more.

Ronda Thats great biking to work.

Bryan Hope work calms down for you and eases your stress. Mileage is still great even with all that work. Good luck on your half.

Betsy can you also donate 20 miles of mine to Liz. Thanks again for all you do for the team on the spreadsheets. Hope your toe is better injuries are no fun to train thru.

I started taking an Extreme fitness class with DS on Saturday morning for an hour and can fell parts of my body that I didn't know could hurt. He's hurting also so I don't feel like to much of an old man.
