The MARCH of the Ducks!

Vic - That is some room! Amazing!

I am really clear reading some of posts above that I just don't speak Nascar! I'm just waiting for baseball season to start (Go Phillies!).

I am so impressed by the mileage you guys rack up. As for me I had a good week, and got my 3 runs in, and a little bit of Pilates as well. My totals:

Miles: 11.3
Minutes: 161

I put in 5 miles yesterday (which will count for next week's numbers), and my back was bugging me all night and this morning as well. I really want to make sure I get two or three core sessions in this week to keep strenthening myself, as I work to take my running to the next level.

Oh, and Happy Spring everyone! Yesterday was beautiful, but today it feels like winter is making a return appearance. :sad1:

Thanks for the comments on the man cave. The DW doesn't say too much as long the UPS guy only shows up once or twice a week. :rolleyes1

Run - 6 miles, 50 minutes
Lifting - 60 mintues

No boxing this week. What does 7 hours of yardwork (mowing, raking, etc.) equal out to?

Y'all take care.

Just touching base, last time I checked in there was a lot of Nascar speak going on and it was WAAAAAAY over my head so I zoned out for awhile. Holy cow is all I got to say about that Vic! Holy holy cow!

Kira I'm with you on the baseball thing. Unfortunately the closest pro team for me is the KC Royals. So maybe we should just not talk about them! Although I did hear a rumor they might be good this year. :rotfl2: I'm not holding my breath. However I do have the KC T-Bones and college ball to entertain me so it's all good. At least contracts and money haven't gotten to them and ruined the game.

My totals for the week are
15.5 miles
102 minutes

Take care and have a great week.

Hi,

Just checking in with my numbers for March 15-21.

hours: 4.6
miles: 22.9

My miles include a double 5K, as I decided to enter a St. Patrick's Day 5K last weekend. :shamrock:

Kira Have tickets to a Phillies game when we visit in 3 Weeks. We try to see a game in every city we visit. I was at Fenway park last summer. Being a Lifelong Soxs fan was a dream come true.

Wow!! What a day for the Ducks!! Lots of activity and interaction. The miles that are being posted are tremendous. All I can say is that it doesn't matter if you do 5 miles or 500 miles, we are a team and everything does count towards several goals. Personal goals and team goals. You all have become such an awesome unit. I thought about each of you while on my run tonight. I really wasn't feeling up to it today either. My legs were sore. My feet were hurting but I felt compelled to go to the track (and get out of the gym) and see what I can do. Well, I did the first mile in a slight jog doing it in a 10 min. split. Then, I walked the next 2 laps and then jogged the last 2 of that mile. Then each mile after that, I walked the first lap and then jogged the last three laps. My last lap was my fastest of the night. So, for the first time ever for me, I was able to do 5 miles in an hour. The most I had done was 4.5 miles. Right now, I am feeling pretty good. I am planning on going out again tomorrow night. Trying to get in all of the running that I can before the rains come.

Thanks for motivating me!!!

Way to go Bryan.....just remember to listen to your body, and walking is okay.
:) I have to say that because I walk much more than I run. :)

Good morning, Triple Ds!

Vic: 7 hours of yard work? maybe that's why your DW doesn't get too upset about your man cave. Consider yourself to have an open invitation to come and hang out in my yard anytime! Actually, it's been bumming me that even though it is officially spring, the weather did not magically turn beautiful. :confused3 I love my garden, but not enough to spend any serious time out there when the temps are in the low 40s and the wind is gusting.

Rhonda: Great job on biking to work. Wish I could do that -- oh, wait, I work from my home office most days. Maybe I'll start jogging down the hall to work....

Rich: I'm pretty sure you could be teaching an extreme fitness class! Enjoy all those new-found muscles!

Kira: Right there with you on the Nascar talk. Counting down the days till opening day, although I am mourning the loss of my beloved Shea stadium. My DH vows to never set foot in the monstrosity currently known as Citi Field (pending renaming due to the banking crisis).

Lisa: Hey, you never know about the Royals...this could be the year! Of course as a Mets fan (see above), I have learned not to get my hopes up too high, even when they go into the all-star break with an apparently insurmountable lead in their division.:rolleyes1

Blizzard: Congrats on the 5k. I toyed with signing up for our local 4M shamrock run at the last minute, then checked the temperature outside and sent DH off by himself to run it.

Bryan: I hope you know I wasn't trying to belittle the stress you are under by what I said My point was that we are here and understand, and everyone's going to end up dumping here at one time or another, so don't hold back under some warped idea that you need to always be our stalwart cheerleader! Hope things are looking better. Oh, and great job on the 5-miles! And I agree with Sharon (maybe b/c I walk a lot too), its okay to walk, so listen to your body!

As for me, yesterday I got to the gym and for the first time since getting sick earlier this month, I just felt plain old good while working out. Didn't break any endurance or landspeed records, but finally feeling like I'm hitting my stride again.

Okay, to show some solidarity with my girls (and my team of choice), and balance out the board a little after those Nascar posts, here is my movie quote:

The last miracle I did was the 1969 Mets. Before that, I think you have to go back to the Red Sea.

Have a great one, fellow ducks!

Just popping in to say hi and the Triple D's rock!

Erica, good to hear that you're hitting your stride again.

Hi, Team!!!

I'll be updating the spreadsheet today, so get those miles and hours in! :cool1:

Vic...crazy man cave! :thumbsup2 And you can come help in my yard any time! I thought that heavy outside work does count in hours if you want it to?

Bryan...wtg on the 5 miles! send me a note and let me know how things are going.

Rich...you're killin' me! Wish I could use commuting time to be active, but I can't exactly ride from TX to Alaska! :lmao:

Blizzard...yay for the 5K and double miles!

Kira...glad you're getting back in your groove!

Everyone else...keep up the good work!

As for me....got a few short runs in on the treadmill last week, one swim, and one session on the exercise bike (I really like my bike so much better).
And, did the Urban Dare race on Saturday...I mapped it out afterwards, and we ran about 8.6 miles. And came in 4th of over 50 teams! yay! Those races are super fun!

My totals and note about spreadsheet updating to follow....

Spreadsheet is updated.
Need a few more people to post...but we are doing great!!

My last week (not so great, but travelled 2 days of it...):
swim 1100 yds/:40
bike 11.7 miles/:45
run 21.5 miles/3:20 (includes doubling my race)
PT/Core: :45

totals 33.8/ 5:30

Upcoming...duathlon on Sunday...we'll see how that goes. First tri of the season on 4/4.
And...that Ironman bug bit me again. May 2010 for the next one. :rolleyes1

NOTE TO TEAM:
the last "week" of March goes through 3/31 So your totals will be for 10 days. That is so we can keep the monthly totals by month. Don't make me have to split stuff out for you. :)

Betsy - I will just wait until March 31 to post my time and milage. I haven't gotten much in since the Princess half in the beginning of the month. Sunday was my first time out since the half. I was excited to be looking forward to it and I felt good.

I love all the NASCAR talk - I am a big NASCAR fan myself. Me and DH go to the Homestead NASCAR championship weekend every year (since 2001) since its always around our anniversary we make a trip of it and spend some time in the Keys - I love it!!

My driver is Kurt Busch #2 Miller Lite Dodge - now I know alot of people don't care for him (or his brother Kyle - who I also like) but I started out a Rusty Wallace fan and he drove the #2 Miller Lite so when he retired I just went with the replacement driver since he is one heck of a driver anyway.

I have to redeem myself and say that I am also a Dale Jr. fan and proudly have a #88 on the back of my truck (he is my DH's driver but I like Dale too - how can you not??)

Good afternoon, ducks! I have a quick, and probably somewhat dumb, question. I've seen a few posts referencing Facebook. Is there a FB WISH group (beyond the general DIS FB group)?

Erica There are a lot of us on FB. I am still trying to figure the whole thing out as I am very new to it as well. As far as your quote goes, I am not for sure but it almost sounds like Bruce Almighty. (I am more than likely wrong but that was the first thing that came to mind.)

Trisha That Kyle is one heck of a driver, isn't he? He drives like he is fearless! I have to agree with what I heard Jeff Gordon say in an interview, "He is probably the best driver on the circuit today."

Betsy Got the bug again, huh? You incredible athlete you!!! The week after your next tri is my next race. I guess we will have "Duck" Race Reports 2 weeks in a row!! COOL!:cool1: I do hope you have a great race!!!

Hope everyone else is having a good week also!
Bryan:cheer2:

Yes Brian - Kyle is one heck of a driver and yes he drives like he is fearless - I think because he is fearless!! I know alot of people don't care for him because of his attitude and because of that fearlessness some feel he is just careless. He isn't my #1 driver but since he is my driver's brother (and a heck of a driver at that) I am happy when he wins and :eek:when Jeff Gordon wins - (sorry had to add that in there!!)

TGIF! Hope everyone's week went well.

Tracy: thanks for the link! If i were a little more FB savvy, i probably could have found it myself. But I'm not. Truth be told, i joined FB so i cold play scrabble long distance with some friends.

Bryan: Oh, good guess but no, not Bruce Almighty. Wanna try again?

Betsy: Thanks again for all your work keeping track of us. I will post miles on 3/31 and not a moment before! :scared1: Besides, that will give me time to make up for the last few days, when WTO and I turned into slug girl again...

Its going top be in the mid to high 60s here today, so i am trying to get a bunch of work done while it dries out (storms last night) and then hopefully I can play hookie for a few hours and go enjoy the sunshine and warmth! I am so ready for spring to be sprung. Hope you all are enjoying the end of winter wherever you are as well.

That would have been my first guess also. Maybe one of the movies with George Burns? My favorite religous-themed movie is Dogma, but I know that line is not in it.

Yes, it is turning into a nice day here. I am looking forward to tomorrow, first a beer festival, and then a concert in the city.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. Yes, it was george Burns in Oh, God (with John Denver, of all people). Gotta love the 70s...

Erica I had to cheat on your quote but I have the answer now. That was awesome. I haven't thought about that movie in probably 20 years and would have never gotten that right. Great quote!!! (If no one else wants to give it a try, I will pop back in to give the answer.)

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!
