Well, I'm back....My little Mario make up session was ok, informative, but just ok. I was more interested in the skin care line she showed me....

B.Kamins - the rosacea treatment system ....she said although I don't have rosacea, the redness in my face can be treated in the same way. She did give me samples of the whole line...so I'll try it & see.

As for the make up...the base she used, I thought was way too light for my skin. I'm fair, but not porcelin. She used a wet/dry shadow as eyeliner...it's ok...not great. Definetely didn't like the mascara. She did give me some good color cues to work with. So..now I'm off to shop a little on my own....(going to make an Ulta run just to look see)

Aww - thank you so much. We absolutely love him. I look at him everyday and know how blessed I am.

Can I tell you (cuz I think you'll get where Im coming from) I'm so bummed my mom never got to 'meet' him - cuz he is just SO great. And she was a HUGE animal lover.
 I feel ya, pal! Everytime I look at Mickey I know how blessed I am to have him, too. But, my dad did know him...he called him his grandson :)

Hey, so my hair is shoulder length...how long do you think it will be in 6 months??? ;)

Don't they say hair grows about 1/2 an inch per month on average?

Can you buy potion 9 at a store or do you have to order it? thanks

Try ULTA - or a salon that carries Sebastian.

I know a lot of you buy stuff at grocery stores - but you shouldnt be.

Right! The new blonde hair color is working!

OMG - ! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So what S&C do you all recommend...is it the AMPLIFY or the CURL-LIFE if you color your hair and you want the color to last longer than 4 weeks....anything possible?? I have thick, short, curly, colored hair!!!

I have just used PANTENE for so long...thinking I need to change things up a bit!!! ::yes::

GOOD MORNING QUEENS!!! Bright sunny day in the OC (that is for Xena)!! :thumbsup2

Neither... I'd use something for color, with Moisture. Like Moisture Maniac by TiGi.

OK, but just to clarify, I can get Moisture Maniac by Tigi at my grocery store!!!!!

can I ask another hair ?? - I have VERY fine, thinning hair (thank you lupus)...

Hi there,

Just wanted to say that I have Lupus too, and I have the same problem. My hair is soooo much thinner now that it was pre-diagnosis!. I find that low manipulation works best for me to retain at least some of my poor strands. Sorry for the hi-jack... just had to shout out my fellow Lupie...

Anyway, I know I said like a million pages back that I was gonna post some pics of my MAC pigments, and that I was willing to send samples to those who are interested. That still applies, I just haven't had the chance to go through all my stuff yet (read: been too lazy  ). I still plan to do it... one day... soon.... really.

For those of you who have mentioned Everyday Minerals Products... I would love to try them, but I feel soooo overwhelmed when I look at their site. I'm a wiz at picking out the right colors in person (we were trained to be that way at MAC), but trying to pick the right colors based on computer images is hard... any suggestions? The pic in my avatar is me... but, that pic was also taken in the middle of the summer when I was pretty tan. In the winter, I'm about 2 shades or so lighter.

You know, Ive found the descriptions are MUCH better than the color swatches. The descriptions are dead on.

You can also write to their Cust Service dept - and they apparently Ive heard - are fanastic and picking a good choice.

Wow, in that picture your hair doesn't look thin at all! I did buy some of the Matrix root lifter stuff that was mentioned above...we'll see. I wish I could do extensions or something...but it's the TOP of my head that's the major issue. Do you have the lupus "mask" as well? That & my hair are probably the 2 most annoying aspects of it. The joint pain I'm used to and can handle...

So, I have to ask....what's a MAC pigment? Sorry...I'm learning.

Went to Ulta - bought the Matrix stuff (amplify shampoo & conditioner too), bought some Two-faced lip gloss, mascara, shadow, bought a new liner (i like the soft pencil kind) I forgot what brand I bought....Stila? maybe?

Walked out $200 poorer.... but happy....

Well, in the pic, I have braided extensions in my hair, but that pic was also taken about 1 year before Lupus entered my life. Regarding the "mask" (malar rash)... I have it intermittently, it's much more obvious in the winter (when I'm paler), and in the summer after I've spent any amount of time outside in the sun. The hair loss has definitely been a blow to my ego (I've always been in love with my hair... even as a little girl). I even cut my hair off from just below my shoulders to just below my ears last year because the thinning was getting so bad that I knew it would look "fuller" if it were shorter. My hair has since grown back way past my shoulders, but still very thin. The joint pain, fatigue, insomnia, and brain fog plague me the most. It's also affecting my hearing (well, Lupus and the Plaquenil) so now I have hearing loss and wear hearing aids.

And MAC pigments are basically loose, highly pigmented eyeshadows. They take some getting used to as far as learning how to work with them, but they are really pretty and last a long time, once you master using them.

Okay... sorry for the Lupus hijack again...:flower3:

I'm sorry about all of the yucky stuff you have to go through. Your hair is very cool and you are beautiful!

Dont apologize! Hijack away....

I cant imagine having Lupus. My Mother's high school friend has it - and it's extremely rough for her. :guilty:

And thanks for the description on what pigments were. I didn't know either :confused3 . They sound fun but way above my skill level.

I don't suffer from any kind of hair loss or thinning but I wanted to note two products that I saw on QVC that, if I did have hair loss or thinning, I'd give a try. One is a cream type temporary color product applied with a brush which is supposed to color the scalp a bit to reduce the scalp show through. The other is the same type of product from Joan Rivers that is a powder applied also with a brush and the demo of this was impressive. Both claim to not run in sweat or rain. Go to qvc.com and search for hair color and I'm sure you'd find them. QVC has a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee (they'll refund the original shipping too) so it might be worth trying.

Good luck!

They're probably not as above your skill level as you think. Do you use makeup brushes to apply product (as opposed to those silly little spongy things)? If you already use brushes, then that's half the battle right there...

The best way to use pigments is by working the product into the brush (don't be scared). When you take the top off the jar, there will be some product in the top. Most times, that will be all you need to use. For more controlled application, use a brush like MAC #224 brush or MAC #217 (or some equivalent from another line). Work the product into the brush by swirling it around in the top a few times. Once the product is completely worked in, you shouldn't really be able to see it much in the brush (it shouldn't still be sitting on top of the brush). Then, apply as you normally would with any other eyeshadow.

For a more dramatic (but trickier to master) look, use a flatter brush like MAC #239, and apply the pigment to one side of the brush (don't work it into the bristles). Use this method for smokey eyes by applying product from lash line to just below crease, and use a blending brush to blend in the lighter colors from crease to brow bone.

One of these days I'll post some pics of these methods and results, so you can have a better understanding of what I mean (in case my descriptions aren't clear).
