If you dont 'need' brushes - dont get them from there.

I got a kabuki - that I like, but it's not the best brush in the universe, or anything.

I did get an liquid eyeliner brush (they no longer have) that is my favorite.

I got a Borghase brush set at Costco for 20 it had kabuki, eye liner shadow, contour blush and more. I got one just to try and it is IMHO just as good as the Mac brushes. So I went and got two more sets when they were marked down. Costco has them at Christmas time but they might have some left.

I just ordered another sample kit from EM I hope this time I get a color that is the best for me. I'm excited can't wait till it comes in.

I am also thinking about getting reginersit prox but don't want to spend the money. I want it but don't know if I can pay that much.

OMG someone talk me down I have another cart full of make up from Beauty Crunch this time 74.00....Has anyone used Bella Il Fiore make up? They have this really cute set there for 16 ....

Can I just say thank you, thank you, thank you. So I was feeling a little down about myself. I just turned 34 and have wrinkles in the forehead area so I was wondering about getting Botox. I'm reasonably attractive but I could never get my makeup to look like I wanted it to. Especially my eyes. This thread has sparked my interest in my makeup and I feel 100% better about my looks...without the Botox ;) There have been so many great tips. I've gotten so many compliments on my eye makeup this week now that I'm trying some new things. You guys are all awesome!
First of all I discovered www.makeupgeek.com This girl is wonderful and gives great tutorials. Better brushes have made a huge difference. I've gotten a few Sonia Kashuk ones which are working very well but I still may like to try a MAC brush. A little tip which I haven't tried but I'd like to....I saw online where people are buying brushes (Loew Cornell) at Michael's (craftstore). The brushes are for painting but are apparently a lot like MAC brushes for A LOT less. Here's some info on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpAjUfsswHo Also, I'm shocked with the difference that an eyeshadow primer makes!!! I LOVE Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Love, love, love it!!! I also discovered the L'Oreal HiP eyeshadows which I really like. Anyway, those are some things that are helping me now. Thanks for all of your advice!

Awww, I'm so happy this thread was started! And thanks for the makeupgeek website. I'm going to save it to my favorites.

Well, once again I stopped into ULTA again after reading this thread. I picked up a foundation brush. Of course being the El Cheapo that I am I got ecotools one for 6.99 Then I saw that L'Oreal had BOGO on lip glosses so I picked up two Infallible 6 Hour lipglosses in "petal" and "blush" for 9.99. I had a $2.00 manufacture's coupon and the ULTA coupon for $3.50 for a $10 purchase. So I got the brush and two lipglosses for $11.50. Not bad and I just tried on the lipgloss and so far I'm loving it. Although if anyone goes through this thread and counts how many lip glosses I've bought since this thread started I will die of embarrassment!

Ok, I'd love to say I stopped at the lip glosses and the brush, but I decided to get some Too Faced: "Absolutely Invisible" pressed powder. I noticed that the erace paste I got needed some powder to set better so I got it. Anyone use it? Like it?

Bella, I'd love to talk you down, but as you can see I've been on a major spending spree of my own. :rolleyes1 I think after my Sephora order comes in, I'm going to stop for a while and play with what I've got. (yeah, I'll keep telling myself that)

I have the order down to 44 but it kills me because when they had the warehouse sale there was free shipping and now I need to pay 8.00 shipping which would have translated into more make up.

Oh, shipping kills me. I hate to pay for shipping! That's why buying off the internet is so bad for me. I always have to buy enough to get the free shipping. Between that and the wait I usually just skip it and go out and buy it at the store.

OK Ladies, I really am going to do it. I will be at a makeup counter SOMEWHERE very very soon, maybe Wednesday. I am having foot surgery on the 23rd, so I am taking your advice and getting the makeover. Let me just ask.....where? I mean, are all makeup counters created equal? Macy's? Belk? JCP? i natural? Should I just flip a coin?

Also, eyebrows, should I really pluck? I mean, I don't have much in the way of eyebrows anyway. And my hair is light brown (at least that is what I remember from seeing my natural hair color. It's been a while!) Or should I wax? So many questions!

I have a small set of MAC brushes, and 2-3 that I bought individually. I've had them for years and they are very nice brushes. The other brushes I have are from BM and they're nice too.

I know Smashbox Halo was mentioned here recently. I just got an email from Sephora if you buy the Halo online, enter HALO at checkout and get a free Smashbox primer deluxe sample.

I think I'm going to order this http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P229409&categoryId=B70. I love the shadows!

GUESS WHAT LADIES?!?!?!?!

Looks like most of what you were looking for I can get. I put my order in tonight, and I will find out in the morning if I can pick it up this weekend. Please PM me if you are still interested, and I will let you know what I ordered, but it looks like what I quoted above I ordered.

Also, please let me know specifically what kind of Philosophy stuff you like if you are interested, cuz there's a bunch out there. Sometimes my friend puts out a "Sale" the morning after the list, so it's not too late to get stuff. LOTS of Bare Minerals and Philosophy this list.

JUST LEMME KNOW!!

I would love to try some of the Philosophy stuff...I've been looking at the Grace line of body products...really just because dd's name is grace!:rotfl:

Here's the thing about all my new stuff...it took me FOREVER tp get ready this morning...I have to say though, I do like the brushes...I need to find a good liquid foundation..the sample one I got at Mario,is just too light for me... I love the hot cocoa too faced mascara though! I've always used black...never realized using brown could actually look better on me.

So this week, I'm going to get my eyebrows shaped & waxed, & get a mani/pedi. I've had fake nails forever! Finally took them off 6 months ago...& while I miss having long nails, it's so much cheaper, and they're so much healthier. My nails never grow really (kinda like my stinking hair!)...so that's why I always had gels put on. & I have short stubby fat fingers...so not having nails makes them look ever shorter! But I'm going to try just doing mani's for a while & see if I'm ok with that.

It's pouring like crazy outside....nothing to do but sit here & DIs

OK gang, here's what I picked up:

(2) Smashbox .5 oz Photo Finish Primer
Smashbox #31 Precision Concealer brush
Smashbox Baby Buki brush
Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil
Bare Escentuals Feather Light Mineral Veil
100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Black Tea Mascara

PM me if you are interested, and let me know if I can keep an eye out for anything!

It's time for me to chime in. I've been keeping up with this thread since it started. There sure is a lot of info here, and a lot of temptation! ;) Where to begin? I'll start with Everyday Minerals.

I bought a set of Everyday Minerals a few years ago. I heard about them on the DIS. I really liked them. After they ran out I tried Ulta minerals and now I have Revlon minerals. I've also used Bare Minerals, and while I like them, I don't like the price. Last summer I decided to go back to Everyday Minerals, but I wasn't sure what color foundation I needed. So I decided to get some samples. After several weeks, with no samples showing up in the mail, I contacted EM and they sent out another set of samples. They never showed up either. Apparently, somebody at the USPS was intercepting my samples. So I figured if I couldn't even get a set of samples to come through, I sure didn't want to pay $50 for makeup and not get it. So I gave up. Reading this thread has reinspired me to try to get some Everyday Minerals. I ordered some samples last Sunday and they arrived today! :cheer2:

I have a question about Everyday Minerals: I really like BM Mineral Veil. Does EM have a similar product?

Other products I've heard about on the DIS and now have: Hot Chocolate Lash Injection. I really love it! For the first time in years, I don't have grey smudges under my eyes by mid-morning. I might have some flecks on my skin, but they're easily brushed off.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvinator. I got this about a month ago. It was on sale at Ulta for $33.xx and I had a 20% off coupon, and it had a bonus box of the pads. I love a bargain. :)

I have another question: For that Beauty Crunch site - is there free shipping with a certain $$ purchase? I'm thinking about getting that Too Faces 'Plastics' set. I'm just starting to see fine lines around my lips and want to make them go away!

Last Sunday Beauty Crunch had free shipping with 50.00 but then it was their warehouse sale(I did not know this I just did what Catherine Rose told me to do LOL) The stuff I got yesterday cost 7.95 to ship that is why I got 66 dollars worth to make it worth while. The Plastics set is so worth it that even if you do spend the795 you are still to the good and there is no tax too.

Well, that's probably a good thing. Then I won't feel like I have to order more stuff, in order to get the free shipping. Who am I kidding? I'll probably order more stuff anyway, but maybe not $50 worth.

I was just going to order two of the Plastic then I there was the set with the shadow, smudge, lip gloss and gloss/blush for 20 and I could not control myself. What I really want is the mega Stila for 20 worth 70 but it is out of stock. If anyone sees it come back in stock please for my sake DO NOT TELL me!

That's interesting because I ordered samples and never received them either. I just thought about that after reading your post. I don't remember how long ago, but I remember it was before we moved and we've lived here almost 2 years now.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Hot Chocolate. It flakes on me too though.

I got my Lucky magazine this week and LOOK at what they had pictured?? From the Paul & Joe brand (a brand I have never heard of until now)

:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Now usually I never fall in love with a product just for the packaging, but that little box with Flower on it is too cute! But why would face powder be in little "pebbles" like that? But then I saw the whole collection. I LOVE Lady and the Tramp. My screen name is from that movie.

paul-joe-disney-1.jpg

After scouring the internet, I found that this was launched last fall, but it looks like it was very limited in the states and long gone now. Why would Lucky mag torture me like that? Oh well, I guess it's best to drool from afar. :headache: :sad1:

So, here's my makeup question o'the day:

Since I'm new at this, I would like to start with some sort of skin regimen. I am 38, and have "combination" skin. I guess that's what they mean when you're kind of shiney but have dry patches in between your eyes? GOOD LORD, that makes me sound awful!

I actually have very good skin, MINIMAL wrinkles, like I have to LOOK for them. I rarely go in the sun, but I blush easily, very fair skin.

SOOOO, what would you do for a cleansing/moisturizing regimen. Any particular input on products to give a try?

I'll tell you what I use but to tell the truth, I don't have problem skin either. It has always been clear, not allergic to anything. Not many wrinkles either.

I wash with Aveeno "positively radiant" face pads. It comes in a pretty green tub with the pads already soapy with their product. Then I follow up with Oil of Olay, "Age Defying" Protective renewal lotion. It has beta hydroxy in it which is takes off the dead layer of skin and leaves it smooth and fresh. It also has SPF of 15 so I use it in the morning too.

Then I follow up with whatever sample of eye cream the nice ladies throw in my bag. Today it's DDF.

Nothing fancy, you can get all this (except the samples) at Walmart but that's what I've been doing for the last few years and I'm very happy with my skin. :cutie:

Miss Park Avenue, I found it here. If you go to the top right corner and click "Change Currency" it can change the prices to USD. The Lady and the Tramp lotion is $21.05 and the Marie lip gloss is $16.10. I'm not sure about shipping.

The packaging is adorable though.

ETA: Oh! I also found it at glow.com and dermstore.com

I use Cetaphil to wash. It is what the dermatologist recommends. To exfoliate add about a half table of baking soda to it and then wash. It is really the best for all types of skin. Be careful with under eye creams, if you use the wrong one it does more harm than good. I suggest you go to cosmeticscop.com this is the site that sells Paula's Choice which is the make up line for Paula Begoin the make up artist who wrote Do NOT Go to the Make Up Counter With Out This Book, she tests and rates all the make up lines. She really does have a good line of make up and it is very inexpensive. I like the shadow because it has lanolin in it. Check out her skin regimes. I have used her products for years.
