So I just saw the Sephora Black Friday deals in the JCPenney store. Which these are the must haves? Are the brushes a good deal or should I try and get the set at Costco that everyone talks about? What is everyone getting?

Okay, I'm in my 40's and I've never worn eyeliner, but I want to start. I need something non-dramatic and easy to apply. Also, HOW do you apply it for daytime? Just the upper eyelid?

I'm very confuddled about this.

Ordered my UD Naked palette. So excited for it to come and to try their primer potion for the first time. I used the code for the makeup bag with 12 samples too. :goodvibes

Maybe a brown eyeliner? I like the MAC Kohl liner in Teddy, a dark brown. I do a line on top and a light line on the bottom.

Sorry for the yelling, but I need some help from the experts! I am 48, peri-menopausal, and my face is like an oil slick! Never was before, always tended to be on the dry side, until about a year ago. I wear Neutrogena Skin Clearing liquid makeup and powder. I look fine when I first put it on, but in about 4 hours, I can touch my hand to my forehead and just feel the greasies starting! (By the way, it's the typical T zone oiliness, on the forehead, nose, and chin. No blemishes.)

I have never really purchased high end cosmetics, and I'm not opposed to it, but I hate spending money on make up and it doesn't live up to it's claims. Is there some foundation and powder I can use that will help me, and maybe stay on and look good more than 4 hours?

Also, I am using Sea Breeze astringent to cleanse, because it's the only thing that makes my face feel clean! I was using a Neutrogena toner before, but it just didn't clean my face well enough. I've tried the little oil blotting papers, they work, but I must blot all the time with them. Is there a better cleanser that will work? Again, I don't mind paying for it, if it is worth it.

Alright experts, help me out!

I experimented with different foundations, powder etc and nothing really made a difference. The only thing that has helped me was wearing a primer under my foundation. Currently I am wearing Dr Brandts from Sephora which is soo expensive but it works. I am going to try to experiment with some different primers to see if I can find a cheaper one that works as well but I would recommened trying a primer. this is the one I use (if I copied the correct link, lol)

I have oily skin, too...and I've been wearing Clinique Even better liquid foundation with the loose powder (better for oily skin because you aren't caking up the puff with oil and spreading it all over your face).

I also use Dr. Brandt's Pores No More (or something like that ) primer under the foundation.

I don't know if anyone remembers the makeup thread I started a few weeks ago asking for advice, but I bought a bunch of drugstore stuff...and promptly threw it all away. :headache: It made me break out horribly and I went to Sephora a couple weeks ago and they were awesome there. :)

If you've never had oily skin before, you might be drying it out too much with the combo of foundation and astringent. I had oily skin when I was young and thought I still had it now. Once I started using a heavier moisturizer, it evened out.

Make up newbie here!
I'm looking for a nice foundation that is not very expensive and pretty easy to apply. I'm thinking not a powder because I just found it does not work all that well for me, yet maybe I'm not doing it right or buying the right kind...

I have pretty normal skin. It can be a bit dry around the eyes.

Right now I'm not wearing a foundation because I can't seem to find one I really like.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!:goodvibes

I went to Ulta yesterday and picked up some nail polish. Nicole by OPI makes a pretty holiday red color with glitter....it's called 'Speak for Your Elf.'

Earlier in this thread I remember someone asking about what age we were if we wore glitter nail polish?.... Well, I'm 32 and will probably wear glitter nail polish until I'm well into my 90's! :rotfl2: It's just more my style. As long as you are comfortable wearing it, that's all that matters. :)

Covergirl/Olay simply ageless...My absolute favorite is the Bobbi Brown foundation stick but it's like $40. I also have trouble with fine lines/dryness around the eye area though so there may be a better answer.

I bought that nail polish and I just love it for the holidays! The only thing I didn't like was that it started chipping after only a few days and normally I can go a week without chips. I tried a new topcoat with it, though so it might be that and not the polish.

I'll tell ya, I'm using OPI top coat and it's working out great. No chips, smudging nothing. Just did my nails last night, and today I've been pretty rough with my hands; doing chores, scrubbing the floors, etc. And my nail polish hasn't chipped yet. :thumbsup2

A good top coat is key, but I also think application has to do with how long nails stand up. I find that if I let each layer completely dry before applying the next, that my nails are more sturdy. Yes, this can be a long process. I let each layer dry for 10 minutes. Base coast, color, color, top coat. I take about 45 mins. to an hour, but totally worth it!

Ok I thought taking nail pics would be easy, but it's not! The pictures I took don't really convey the true color. So here's a link if anyone wants to see the color:

Saw that Urban Decay is going to have an eye shadow Naked 2 set :D

I am so disappointed by the colors in this palette :sad1: The original naked is my daily go to so I was hoping this would be something I would want to pick up but I think this is a pass for me. Love the tin though.

I've never seen the original Naked in person - online it looks like a lot of glitter? Like A LOT A LOT of glitter. Have I been mistaken all this time?

I can snap a pic of mine when I get ready tonight! There is really only one glittery shade in there, some of the rest have shimmer, buts its not a ton. The online pictures didn't really do it justice. On this blog she compares both, so this might help! http://www.xsparkage.com/?p=4113

Anyone else get their V.I.B coupon? $20 gift card, minimum purchase of $50 required. Must use Dec. 1 - 13.

These stores are killing me! I just bought stuff from Sephora, and Ulta last week. But all these deals around the holiday season are too good to pass up. :rolleyes1

We'll see....maybe I'll get some Christmas cash, (I mean cards), early this year! ;)

BTW ULTA has a 5 off 10 coupon starting today.
