The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Not a margarita fan at all, but those chips and sauce look really, really good.

I had my first Margaritha at WDW and I only have them there! :rotfl2: But they kind of grow on me and I tend to go with the sweeter ones, like the pineapple one I had. And they go pretty darn well with those chips and dips! ;)

Unfortunately The Ditch had lost a lot of fans which is why there is no longer a wait to get a table most of the time. They took most of their yummy snacks off of the menu but those margarita's are still very good!

Great... my first trip into the Ditch and I'll have to bring a bag lunch...

Mmmm I love La Cava! That Pineapple Margarita is next on my list to sample!

Those "chips" look like deep fried pork rinds...is that what they were by chance?

Those chips that are with the guacamole look like little pork rinds :lmao:

I had the blood orange marguerita and it was very good but your pineapple one looks great too!

Mmm love the food and drinks that you tried at the Ditch! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to seeing what you got at B&C :)

Day 2, February 20

An ice-cold treat from Ghirardelli's

After we had said our goodbyes and parted ways, we knew we could not check in at the CSR, so we decided to hop over to Downtown Disney and have a look around.

We took some time walking through the stores and finally decided it was time for something sweet, so walked over to Ghirardelli's to pick up a free chocolate sample. ;) ........ milk chocolate caramel bar! :cloud9:

And then it dawned on us ...... why not have some ice-cream? It was February and there was snow back in Austria! :rotfl2: Why not celebrate spring with an ice-cream sundae.
So we walked over to the ice-cream parlor and started reading the menu. After a lot of reading we ordered, applied the AP discount and went straight over to the wall with the San Francisco mural to wait for our treat!

It did not take long for our treats to arrive.

Tom had a Quake Shake - A chocolate bar infused milkshake. He chose Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter with Vanilla Ice Cream. Thick creamy and VERY tasty. There was a nice peanut buttery taste and little flakes of chocolate. But this was HUGE! He was not able to finish it all.

I had the Mint Bliss - one scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, one scoop of chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a square of Mint Bliss Intense Dark chocolate. :worship: May I say that I LOVE mint chocolate chip ice cream, but together with the hot fudge this was heaven on earth!
Again a really huge helping and once I hit the chocolate ice-cream, combined with the hot fudge, it got a bit too sweet for me, but there was no way I would be able to finish it anyway. Maybe next time I could ask for just mint chocolate chip ice-cream! ;)

After we had finished our sweet treats we drove over to the CSR to try if we could check in.

Coming up: Lunch at the Sassagoula Floatworks

I LOVE this place!! I get the cable car amazing. Two of us can't finish it. It's so amazing! Chocolate & marshmallow sauce & hot fudge.Just perfection! I have to stop myself from eating too much of it!

Unfortunately The Ditch had lost a lot of fans which is why there is no longer a wait to get a table most of the time. They took most of their yummy snacks off of the menu but those margarita's are still very good!

Kat, if you are referring to the tostadas, they are back - at least that is what their facebook page says! :thumbsup2 As far as I know they took a lot of the snacks off, then had a lot of complaints and now they are back! :woohoo:

Great... my first trip into the Ditch and I'll have to bring a bag lunch...

Don't bring a packed lunch, they DO offer some pretty tasty snacks in there. :thumbsup2

Mmmm I love La Cava! That Pineapple Margarita is next on my list to sample!

I really loved it because it was sweet!

Those "chips" look like deep fried pork rinds...is that what they were by chance?

Unfortunately I don't know what deep fried pork rinds are ....... they were some kind of deep fried dough I think.

Those chips that are with the guacamole look like little pork rinds :lmao:

I had the blood orange marguerita and it was very good but your pineapple one looks great too!

I had the blood orange margarita last year and while it was very nice, I really enjyoed the pineapple one more. :thumbsup2

Mmm love the food and drinks that you tried at the Ditch! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to seeing what you got at B&C :)

You definitely have to check it out! It's a fun place with lots of yummy drinks - last time we visited, Tom had a margarita sampler which he enjoyed a lot! :goodvibes

We have never tried the Cable Car Sundae, but maybe we should give it a try in August! :thumbsup2

Hey Karin :wave2:

You know the best thing about you getting to take so many long trips to the World and enjoying all this delicious food? We get to read about it :thumbsup2

Fantastic reviews as always. I am all caught up and there are far too many episodes of yumminess for me to quote but I am loving all the KK goodness. Fantastically, they are growing ever more popular in England now and there are a few places reasonably locally where we can get our KK fix. I still love the plain glazed - they are my faves - but the Lemon Meringue ones are pretty darn good too

I love that you just ordered starters (and a dessert) at Cali Grill. The flatbreads look so amazingly good that I would love to go just to try one or two.

And thank you for the picture of my favourite ice cream sundae at Ghiardelli, the Mint Bliss :worship: All it takes is for you to have had my favourite Milky Way Sundae at Beaches & Cream and you'll have made my day.

Karin...pork rinds are pork fat that is deep fried into a crisp like chip, I guess that is a good description? Todd inhales them..just the smell has me running for the door :rotfl2:

Kat, if you are referring to the tostadas, they are back - at least that is what their facebook page says! :thumbsup2 As far as I know they took a lot of the snacks off, then had a lot of complaints and now they are back! :woohoo:

:cool1::yay::dance3::banana:

I LOVE your report! And, can't wait for the rest. I really enjoyed how you included your "Austrian breakfast" and plane food. :)
Also, you are an excellent photographer. I am amazed at how good the food shots look!
Keep it coming!!!

Hi Joh, so nice to know you are here as well!

Thanks for giving me the thumbs up on the UK getting more and more KKs! Guess what, my aunt, who lives in Orpington, tries to lure us over with the promise of taking us to one! :rotfl2:

You need to go and try the Cali Grill flatbreads on day, they are soooo good! And the flavour combinations are out of this world!

Unfortunately I cannot help you with the Milky Way Sunday, as I was still too full from all the lunches we had had, but I loved what I had! ;)

Thanks for the discriptions .... if that is it, I don't know. :confused3 I would have sworn it was some fried dough, but who knows! :rotfl2:
Guess what, Austrians fry litte cubes of pork fat and we fill them into dumplings, cook the dumplings and have them with Sauerkraut (=Grammlknoedel). While I don't like the smell of frying the cubes, I just love the finished cooked product - yum, yum! Tell Todd to come over and we will get him some! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for your kind words. :goodvibes
I am glad you enjoyed the Austrian breakfast and plane food as much as we did. There's lots more to come and we have another 30 day trip planned for the summer, so stay tuned for that too! :thumbsup2

Day 5, February 23

Beaches and Cream

When we finally left the park in the early afternoon, we walked back to the Yacht and Beach club and now Beaches and Cream was open. We were both still pretty full from our lunches and the bag of

IMG_9879.jpg

fresh caramel popcorn, which we had picked up in Germany during our stroll around World Showcase.
But still we tried our luck and asked for a table. They were full, but would we mind sitting at the counter. No we would not and within 3 minutes we were seated.
After a look at the menu we both had decided on what we wanted, placed our orders and watched other sundaes being put together.

IMG_9871.jpg

Very interesting indeed.

And then finally it was time for our orders to be prepared and served.

Tom got the Frozen Sunshine - orange sherbet, vanilla ice cream and seltzer, blended to perfection, topped with whipped cream, and a candied orange slice. It was a huge helping, as there was plenty of it left in the mixing container which was placed next to it as well. And he really liked it, not too sweet, creamy and refreshing. But he was just not able to finish it all.

I would not have needed a menu, as I knew what I wanted before heading inside Beaches and Cream.

I wanted the Mickey Mouse Sundae, made with Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. It is just the right size of a treat for me and it was perfect at the time as well. I adore Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and we cannot get it here, so it is always a must do for me. I loved my little mouse treat!

And when we were finally finished we headed back to our resort!

Coming up: Dinner at Miller's Ale House

Hi Karin

Thanks for the Beaches and Cream review :thumbsup2

I too am a big fan of mint choc chip ice cream and your Mickey Sundae looked really cute, although I don't think I would have been able to resist ordering something 'bigger'

Hello, my friend! Beaches and Cream looks great. I'm hoping that we'll do dinner or lunch there at some point during the trip! :goodvibes Thanks for sharing those delectable pictures...AND NO MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP???

Heavens... How terrible! :rotfl2:

Beaches and Cream has such a cute atmosphere! :thumbsup2 I love it!

The Frozen Sunshine looks delicious! Definitely on my bucket list of Disney foods!

The Mickey Mouse is so cute and perfect snack size. :goodvibes
