The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Mmm WPE for breakfast sounds delish! We have that included in our plans - was planning on ordering the crispy cornflake french toast though after reading your review am debating whether to order the breakfast pizza instead! The tough decisions one has to make! :rotfl2:

The cornflake french toast is wonderful and HUGE, but I just love the thought of being able to have pizza for breakfast! :rotfl2:
What about ordering both, the pizza and the french toast and share? ;) :goodvibes

You make quite a convincing case for WPE and DTD. I think we might make it there this time...we'll see. I do know that if we go and there is a meal involved, we will be eating at WPE! Why would I go anywhere else? :lmao:

We're actually down to two weeks...thankfully! Can't believe you have four more to go. Hope the long weekend helps. :goodvibes

One needs to support a fellow countryman! Especially one who CAN cook! :rotfl2:

I really hope you can make it to DTD and WPE, as it sure is a nice change from the usual CS place. Did I tell you that you order at the counter, fetch your first drink, grab a table and then just wait for your food to be served to you?

Wow! Only 2 more weeks to go! Lucky girl! On the other hand - since you have to go back to school on August 1st - I consider myself lucky. We only go back September 12! :thumbsup2
And thanks for mentioning it, yes the long weekend helps and the following week we will have another one - then it is going to be Thursday to Sunday! EVERY day we have off is a good day! :lmao:

No, I haven't been to Ohanas yet. I had it booked for Dec, then that trip didn't pan out, then for early March, and again, we didn't go then and I tried for April, but nothing available. I have even looked for my 1st night in Aug when I'll have my first night to eat where ever and it's not available either.

Yes, I know, Ohana is a hard ticket to get! I hope you get to try it on your next trip with Claire and Skip!
It IS an experience! ;) :goodvibes

Karin has sold me on WPE, planning to gomy first time in Sept. It looks amazing for a CS meal.;)

Yeah! Another one sold! :rotfl2:
But to be honest - it IS a good deal especially if you are on the DDP and the fact that you do not have to juggle your food to a table, but being served is just wonderful! And the servers are super friendly and helpful too! :thumbsup2

Day 4, February 22

Wild Africa Trek lunch

After breakfast we went over to the AK, went on a few rides and had some photos taken before we signed in for the Wild Africa Trek.

Once all the preparations were done we had to cross a "trial rope bridge" to see if we would all be okay with crossing the "real" bridges.

And after this first bridge we got to strengthen ourselves with some

IMG_9707-1.jpg

jungle juice! Cold and sweet and smooth, so nice!

Then it was time for the adventure and after we had crossed bridges, met hippos and crocs and had driven across the savannah we finally arrived at our Boma, a outlook over the savannah where we had lunch.

There were small tables all set up and the guides handed out little metal containers with our lunch.

IMG_9752-1.jpg

These containers actually were two containers put on top of each other and they were filled with lots of yummy goodies.

IMG_9750-1.jpg

The top container held three little round container. One of them had chilled fruit balls, different kinds of melon and pineapple.
Plus you got a cute wooden spoon as well.

IMG_9754-1.jpg

There was also some chilled, curried chicken salad, which was out of this world good. I am not a huge fan of chicken salad, but this was very tasty.

IMG_9749-1.jpg

The third little container was shock full of prosciutto. Very thinly cut, nice and salty and just hit the spot with some of the pita bread which was in the second container.

IMG_9753.jpg

The bottom container had chilled shrimp, which were nicely cooked, juicy and tender, a salmon roll filled with cream cheese on some kind of slaw, which was wonderful and well spiced. Only downside - you had to put the whole thing into your mouth, as there were no knives to cut them with. And the last container was filled with some heavenly sun dried tomato hummus, which I could have eaten a lot more of! ;)
There were also three small pita breads which were fresh and soft and very nice.
There also were several bottles of jungle juice and some water to drink.

Did we like our lunch?

Let the pictures speak for us ..........

Coming up: And another Krispy treat

Wow Karin your lunch looks wonderful :goodvibes

I am just waiting for WTA to open up for October so we can book

We are thinking of doing a 10am tour so I think we would be served breakfast instead of lunch :confused3

Karin - that lunch looks amazing! I love to have lots of different things to nibble at - I think we need to investigate this experience......:)

Wow that food looks amazing - what a treat! :thumbsup2 The jungle juice doesn't look bad either!

That sounds like a good idea of sharing the WPE cornflake french toast and breakfast pizza but am not sure if we will be able to finish them between us, lol!

That lunch looks incredible. I wonder how long they'll keep it that way?

I really hope it is here to stay! :goodvibes ;) It was wonderful, such a variety and it was soooooo good!
I could have eaten more and more of that chicken salad ...... and I don't even LIKE chicken salad! :rotfl2:

You might be lucky and get lunch, Linda! We were "fed" about two hours into the tour, so for you it would be around noon! You might be lucky! :thumbsup2

The tour is just so much fun, Linda! If you want to read more about it, hop over to my trip report - it's day 4! :thumbsup2

Karin - that lunch looks amazing! I love to have lots of different things to nibble at - I think we need to investigate this experience......:)

You definitely have to find out about it, Shari! It is a wonderful experience! It's expensive, but so worth every penny! :thumbsup2
And the food they feed you is just out of this world good!

We were amazed they were able to produce such a wonderful lunch out in the Savannah! There was plenty of it too! :lmao:
And jungle juice is yummy too! :thumbsup2

Day 4, February 22

And another Krispy Treat

Once the Wild Africa Trek had come to an end, we discovered how tired we both were and we headed back to our car and went to the resort. Since our room wasn't made by then, we decided to do a little offsite shopping.

But before we went out, we had a little snack!

IMG_9765.jpg

IMG_9766.jpg

Mickey Oreos!

When we came back, the room was made up and we brought home a few grocery items and enjoyed them in the room. We were both tired, so we watched a little TV. But around 8pm we had a sweet craving ........

and went to ............

can you guess it?

IMG_9768.jpg

Krispy Kreme again!

IMG_9769.jpg

They were selling doughnut holes as the special of the day and needless to say we had to try them. They were soft and warm and sweet and melted in your mouth!
Hungry now?

IMG_9771.jpg

Plus we picked up a few glazed doughnuts for next day's breakfast as well.

After sampling the doughnut holes right there at the store we went back to the resort, nibbled our doughnut holes and watched even more TV.

Coming up: Lunch at La Cantina de San Angel

Those doughnuts look soooo good. I may have to try talking the rest of my family into taking a krispy kreme detour....

Hmmmmm, Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They account for the large mass that are my hips. We have one just down the road from our house and I just can't resist when I see that "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign.

Karin I think it is lucky we don't rent a car while in Disney or we would be hitting Krispy a lot !!!!!

She is killing me too! Do you know how much I want those doughnuts and a huge glass of milk and I cannot have either????

No intention of killing anyone ......... :rotfl2:

And about that glass of milk, a Frappucchino will go with them nicely as well, I think ....... or can't you have that either? :scared1:

They are only 111 calories each. :rotfl2: I had to :lmao: when I found a research project and they were the least "bad" fast food! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am not sure they would be so good for me if I had a store down the road. Guess I would need a bigger car then! ;) That "Hot Now" sign is just too tempting to drive by!

Downright mean! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

:rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

All the more reason for renting a car! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Day 5, February 23

Lunch at La Cantina de San Angel

Since we had been grocery shopping the day before, we had a "home-made" breakfast out of our fridge.

We spent our morning at Epcot, admiring the topiaries that had already been put up. And around lunchtime we decided to try the new La Cantina de San Angel. When we got there the outside seating area was packed and here it came in handy that I do massive research on the DISboards, as I had read that the TS restaurant opens part of its tables for CS customers for lunch. So we peeked inside the restaurant, there was plenty of seating, so we got in line.

Now, how long can it take to order food, when there are only two parties ahead of you?

Pretty looooooooooooooooooong, I tell you! :lmao:

The couple ahead of us was done in a flash, then the party on the other side of the till started ordering. They ordered, cancelled, changed their order, changed it once again, ordered for the kids, changed that order, ordered items not covered by the DDP, changed again, you get the picture. Then they had finally made up their minds and had ordered, handed the CM at the till the KTTW and voila - did not have enough DDP credits left!
So, a manager had to come out, cancel the whole booking and they started from scratch - same scenario, order, cancel, order, change their mind ..... it took forever for them to place their order and be done.

Once it was our turn we ordered, paid and were done in a few seconds, but then we had had enough time to make our minds up while waiting! :rotfl2:

We found a nice table inside the restaurant, sat down and started lunch.

IMG_9808.jpg

Before getting in line we had decided to share the Tacos de Carne - grilled beef tacos served

IMG_9809.jpg

on fresh handmade corn tortillas

IMG_9810.jpg

with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips. Tom got some sauces and we both really enjoyed the soft tacos with lots of juicy beef inside and the warm tortilla chips a lot. We don't get much Mexican food here, so we cannot compare, but to us it was a pretty good meal.

I had wanted to try the

IMG_9811.jpg

IMG_9812.jpg

Churros con Cajeta - Churros with caramel milk.

And they were right up my street! Soft sweet churros,

IMG_9813.jpg

dipped into the caramel goodness of the sauce! Oh yum. Sometimes I am pretty happy Tom doesn’t like sweet things as much as I do.

Once we had finished our "first" lunch of the day, we walked over to the Mexican Pavillion, explored a bit and had a look if we could get on the little boatride, but nope, people were starting to line up way outside the actual line area - no thanks, but we noticed that La Cava del Tequila had just opened its doors.

Coming up: Another Lunch at La Cava del Tequila

Great review Karin!:thumbsup2

We would love to try a meal in Mexico as we haven't done that yet. Those churros look delicious! Did you happen to see the menu for the TS restaurant? Did it look nice?

I can't believe all the hassle you had with the family in front of you - don't you hate it when that happens!

Looking forward to hearing about your second lunch in La Cava!:lmao:

Thank you, Shari!

We had tried the previous CS, but have never done the TS either. I wanted to do the new one in February, but MickeyNicki had such a bad review from her fall trip that we cancelled again.
The restaurant itself looked very nice though - and as for the menu, we didn't look at it, but I know allears has one and I think there is one on Disney's restaurant site as well.

The family in front of us was unbelieveable, but not the first time this happened to us! ;) :lmao:

La Cava coming up soon, need to have lunch and do a few chores first! ;)

I can have a Frappachino if they make it with soy milk :goodvibes

Todd is sitting right next to me watching tv and he spied your carne tacos....he is drooling right now! He cannot wait to try them!
