The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Beaches and Cream! Yum! We were there a couple of weeks ago. My DS got the Frozen Sunshine but ended up not liking it so guess who was responsible for finishing it...me of course! A mothers job is never done. lol It was wonderful though and I let him eat on the banana split myself and my DH had gotten.

Great choices! Tom's Frozen Sunshine seems like something my other half would enjoy.

I'm not a huge fan of mint choc chip ice cream (though your sundae looks nice) but have already decided that I am getting the No Way Jose! ;)

Hi Karin

Thanks for the Beaches and Cream review :thumbsup2

I too am a big fan of mint choc chip ice cream and your Mickey Sundae looked really cute, although I don't think I would have been able to resist ordering something 'bigger'

Tom is not big on sweet things and I was too full to order something bigger, but that sweet little mouse sundae was absolutely the perfect size and hit the spot! :thumbsup2

Karin Tom's drink looks delish and your sundae looks pretty darn good too !!!

It was pretty thick like a milkshake, but much lighter and this was the second time I had a Mickey Mouse Sundae and I loved it every time!

Hello, my friend! Beaches and Cream looks great. I'm hoping that we'll do dinner or lunch there at some point during the trip! :goodvibes Thanks for sharing those delectable pictures...AND NO MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP???

Heavens... How terrible! :rotfl2:

NO MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP HERE :sad2: I know it is NOT fair!!!!! :rotfl2:

Have you ever been to Beaches and Cream? Their sundaes are HUGE and yummy - I hope someone gets a Kitchen Sink while you are there! :lmao: :goodvibes

Beaches and Cream has such a cute atmosphere! :thumbsup2 I love it!

The Frozen Sunshine looks delicious! Definitely on my bucket list of Disney foods!

The Mickey Mouse is so cute and perfect snack size. :goodvibes

It's such a fun place to be at!

You said it perfectly - Mickey Mouse sundae is the perfect snack size! :thumbsup2

It's a sweet little place in the true sense of the word, isn't it?
I am glad you liked the frozen sunshine too. Tom doesn't like sweet things as much as I do, but this was something he enjoyed as well! :thumbsup2

Oh, you had the banana split! How clever of you to share it, it is HUGE, isn't it. I tried to conquer it once, but failed miserably! :rotfl2:

Be careful! That No Way Jose is addictive! :rotfl2: We had it once and it was heavenly, but I need to order it when I am REALLY hungry and even then I will only make it through about half of it! ;) :lmao:

That Orange Sunshine sounds good and the Mickey Mouse sundae is too cute!

You don't get mint chip over there?? That's harsh. It's my fave ice cream flavour! I dunno what I would do without it.

That frozen sunshine looks SOOOOOOOOO good. I don't I would be able to eat the candies though.

Hey, I can see you and Tom sitting at the counter!

No mint chocolate chip!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: What kind of a country are you livin' in? :rotfl: That was always my favorite when I was a kid- yum yum! :goodvibes

No, no mint chocolate chip ice-cream here! But since we don't have it, most people don't know what they are missing! :rotfl2:
I came across it in the US and since I love mint and I love chocolate - this was the perfect combination for me!

I loved the candy on the Frozen Sunshine - candied oranges. We have something similar here, candied orange peel, coated in dark chocolate - oh my, this is :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

You spotted us!!!!!! It was fun to take the photos with us in the mirror!

Nope, no mint chocolate chip here, I live in the country where rum soaked plum ice-cream is all the rage! :rotfl2:
Seriously we have some really yummy ice-cream flavours here, just no mint chocolate chip, we deem it VERY British!

That orange thing looks heavenly!!!! I love those orange slice cnadies. My grandma used to buy them when i was a kid and I just loved them. When I eat them now, they bring back good memories. Severla years ago I mentioned something about liking them and she started buying them for me every holiday after that. Sadly she died a few years ago. She was a great Grandmother!

I'm not a fan of mint choclolate chip at all (i'm wierd with icecream, don't like chocolate icecream too), But Skip and Claire LOVE it, so I buy it all the time for them.

Yummy Beaches and Cream review. The Mickey Sundae looks so cute :)

Your grandmother must have been such a sweet woman, well, she has a sweet granddaughter! :goodvibes
I love the story about the orange slices. They used to sell them here, maybe I can find some for you, but I haven't seen them in a while.

Don't worry if you don't like Mint Chocolate Chip ice-cream, leaves more for Claire, Skip and me! :rotfl2:

Yummy Beaches and Cream review. The Mickey Sundae looks so cute :)

You need to try the Mickey Sundae one day, Stefy, it is small enough to be fitted in even if you are already full! :lmao:

Day 5, February 23

Miller's Ale House

When we finally got back to our resort we discovered that our room was not done YET!! The time you ask .... past 3pm!

So, since we didn't want to sit around and wait for it to be made, we just dropped our park bags in the room and went out shopping to the outlet mall. It was around 8pm when we drove back and I remembered that a friend here on the DISboards had recommended Miller's Ale House for dinner. So we searched it in the GPS, found one near DTD and off we went.
We were shocked when we entered the parking lot, it was FULL! Once we finally had found one we did not have high hopes of being seated. But we tried and yippie, there was an empty table waiting for us.

We sat down, were handed the menu and while we were still discussing the menu our server came by and asked for our drinks order.
No biggie for me, as I opted for my trusted Diet Coke, but Tom wanted to try a beer, since this was an "ale" house.

He ordered the Killians Red, which he deemed very good. I had to take his word for it, I do not drink beer.

We both felt like salad so we ordered a

Caesar salad to start off the meal. It arrived very shortly after we had placed the order and while the salad was fresh and crisp, it was a little under dressed.

We were both hungry, so Tom ordered the

Full Rack of Baby Back Ribs, their own secret slow cooked recipe smothered in Barbeque Sauce, served with French Fries and Coleslaw. The Ribs were huge and there was a generous portion of fries, but the Coleslaw came in a tiny cup. I tried the ribs and they were tasty and fell off the bone. Plenty of fries too!

I went for the best of both worlds .....

the Flat Iron Steak with Boom Boom Shrimp. A Choice Flat Iron Steak with 10 mildly spicy Panko breaded shrimp, served with a baked potato, loaded with butter, sour cream, chives, cheese and bacon bits and a side of broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked medium and tender and nice. The shrimp were plump and juicy, with a crispy coating. The baked potato loaded with all those goodies was creamy and devine. I usually love broccoli, but this one was a bit undercooked, lacked seasoning and was just luke warm. But there was plenty of food even without the broccoli.

We were too full to order dessert and left to head back to our resort for a good night's sleep.

Coming up: Starring Rolls Cafe

I know, you are one of my dedicated readers, thank you for sticking with me!
Bubba review is coming up pretty soon ....... I wonder if you can guess what I had? ;) :rotfl2:

Im sorry I couldnt wait :rolleyes1 I had to go and read one of your older Bubba Gumps reviews :rotfl2:

Let me guess...........Dumb luck coconut shrimp. ;)

I want to try The Shrimper's heaven...in fact I want to try everything :lmao:

Wow the food at Miller's Ale House looks soo good!!

Have been reading reviews of off site food and some of the places sound so good. We would probably not go off site for our first visit but will def keep it in mind for a possible future visit :thumbsup2

That review is one of the main reasons we tend to eat off-site on our trips now. The food looked great :thumbsup2

Hi, Karin! I'm guessing that for you school's not done yet, either? :lmao: the Ale House looks yummy. Your baked potato looks particularly yummy. I know...all that and the potato is what catches my eye!

Our trips are getting so close! :yay: I can't wait and I'm sure you can't either.

I can't believe your rooms weren't ready even after 3pm! Good thing you had your own car so you could go out. Get any goodies at the mall?

Your meal at the Ale house sounds fantastic! You TR always makes me hungry....but it's not my break yet so I can't have any food! I need to always be snacking on something when reading your updates...
