The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

No pirate for us this cruise, need space for other things. I love formal night so my splurge space goes to our formal wear. Can justify that by wearing for 3 nights (2 formal and 1 Palo).

Speaking of pirate night, does anyone know if the pirate menu is the same as it has been for the past several years or has it changed? The old menu was our least favorite and last year we skipped it and just ate by the pool and saved room for the buffet. Will do that this year too if menu is the same.

less pirate for us. I have pirate mickey ears.
We booked Palo diner on that night. Earlier dinertime, so more time to spent on deck to be in time for the party. And what also said by WDW princess 71 about the menu is true. We had that menu several times now.

I am curious about everyone's plan for pirate night;
Full Pirate - complete pirate costume
Semi Pirate - pirate themed tshirt
No Pirate - not dressing up in any pirate themed attire

Originally I was just going to bring along a pirate themed tshirt to save on luggage space but I am reconsidering and thinking I want to go full pirate.

I'm doing this too (6pm dinner) as I never make it to the pirate buffet and I don't like the restaurant menu. I was going to Dr my old pirate outfit but decided there was no room to take it!

It doesn't appear to have changed!

Response to the Poker Run has been overwhelming. We are over 50 participants signed up for the event!

I did not even consider that I would have to limit participation, but we may have to. Due to the logistics of a limited amount of playing card decks (must be unique to prevent anyone from introducing unapproved cards into the mix), we have a choice.

Option 1 - Play Texas Hold 'Em, each player is given 7 cards to make the best 5 card hand they can. This option is limited to 66 players, thus we would cut the list at 66.

Option 2 - Play 5 Card Stud, each player is given 5 cards to make the best poker hand they can. This option is limited to 93 players.

Please voice your opinion. Please remember we must also respect the staterooms that have been graciously volunteered for our viewing.

My father in law have decided to come along with us... I booked cruise and flights for him today... all done apart from BA. I will contact BA tomorrow to see if he will be able on same flight from Gatwick...

He always last mins and I knew myself that he is coming because he enjoyed twice with Disney Cruise.

About pirate... I think just tee shirts and I have Disney long pirate ears so I bring it along too... maybe buy new pirate tee shirts on the cruise as I bought it last times for kids, they loved it.

Okay, I am pretty much full on the chocolate tasting. I have room for one more person if anyone is interested (I had a cancellation). If you are on this list (I'm only putting Dis names on here). I will be sending your information you provided to DCL shortly, at which point you will charged (a couple weeks before we depart) $30 per person. If you don't show up you will still be charged, and the rest of us will split up your chocolate and alcohol amongst us (no kidding, I have done this before!!). Again, the tasting should be September 9 at either 2pm or 4pm.

Apparently we are keeping them pretty busy though, because I got this email from DCL - "I have so much tasting/mixology requests for this sailing & the ship (Cruise Director) is overwhelmed & putting me on hold for everything that I have requested, back to back sessions in every sea day"

So I have 43 people (if it says unconfirmed next to your name, please just send me PM with your first and last names and ressie or room number). I will split into 2 groups. As I said, I can fit one more person to make an even 22 in each group...

Wow, how are we gonna work out the actual stateroom viewing with all those people??? Are we going to split up into smaller groups?

I think that 66 is a more manageable number. I can't recall if there had been a set day and time for the viewings. R

The only one we have done before broke the crowd into smaller groups, with the "hosts" in the first group. The hosts stayed in their cabin when that first group got to their cabin, welcomed each group that came thru, and joined the last group to see the rest of the cabins on the tour.

Like you, I've had the same internal conversation. I was going to just go with a t-shirt for two reasons that include saving luggage space and secondarily because I want a new pirate night outfit so my pictures don't all look the same! I have come up with a costume, but it's simple and not from the more authentic pirate vision like the POTC movie. I'm shaking things up by going with focus on the Peter Pan movie. pirate:

....Speaking of pirate night....just ate by the pool and saved room for the buffet. Will do that this year too if menu is the same.

What a great idea! Besides, as we approach the end of 2 weeks in the dining room, I start to want simple meals. I do thoroughly enjoy those turkey legs, too!

My father in law have decided to come along with us...He always last mins and I knew myself that he is coming because he enjoyed twice with Disney Cruise.....

That's great he joining you! Now if you can only train him to plan to go sooner so your flights can be less expensive! :rotfl:

Wow!

Of course there will be more than the poker players touring. Indeed that's a lot! :grouphug: With that many people, it may be less probable for those hosting to get to tour most of the cabins. Gilland18 has a great suggestion to remedy that!

As a room host, I'm hoping the plan will be to have the tour on the first sea day, which is before the cabin starts to really look lived in! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Our Candy Swap group has 40 participants. Considering everything you need to pack, candy for 40 people can be some extra luggage weight.
Unless I hear otherwise from you members, can we consider dividing into 2 smaller groups? Please send some feedback along. Thanks. Caroline :thumbsup2

There is only room for five (5) more participants in the poker run! Sign up quickly to ensure your spot.

Once we obtain the maximum number of participants, the list will be closed.

Details on post #1250.

WBTA 2014 Poker Run / Cabin Crawl Sign-up

This sign up is specifically for the Poker Run portion of the Cabin Crawl. If you plan to participate in the Poker Run, you MUST sign-up prior to August 20, 2014.

The Poker Run will require some preparation on my part, thus the cut off of August 20.

Rules for Participation
• Each player must be 21 years or older
• An entry fee, paid to the sponsor (Lucas Turano -SucalT) of approximately one (1) US Dollar will be required for each player number issued.
- It is requested that you pay your entry fee in the currency of your home country, US Currency is not required, nor preferred.
-If your home country currency is MUCH stronger than the US Dollar (ie GBP), I will have change for you if necessary!
• Each participant/team will be issued a player number.
• Each family member may share a number or have a number of your own.
• A random playing card will be issued to each participant/team at each of seven (7) predetermined staterooms.
• Issued playing cards will be marked/identified with the player number to prevent sharing of playing cards, thus ensuring fairness for all.
• At the end of the Poker Run, the best poker hand will win the prize. In the event that we have an exceptional turnout, the sponsor may elect to provide a secondary prize for the runner-up hand.
• No knowledge of poker is required to win. There will be plenty of people on the tour to assist you in determining the status of your hand. The winner of this event will be determined by chance, no skill is required to participate.
• To ensure fairness, the sponsor and family may participate, but is not eligible for the prize. In the unlikely event the sponsor's hand wins the tournament, the prize will default to the second winning hand.
• All entry monies, plus additional monies supplied by the sponsor, will be returned to the prize winner(s) in the prize package(s). The sponsor will not make a profit off of this event.

Add your information to the list, make sure it has been saved, and exit out. If you have not signed up for this event by August 20, I cannot assure you entry into the Poker Run.

Anyone who is just interested in tagging along for the Cabin Crawl without the Poker Run, you are certainly welcome to join as well, however please DO NOT sign-up on the above sign-up sheet.

You may sign-up at the following link if you are ONLY participating in the Cabin Crawl: Cabin Crawl ONLY Sign-up

The Poker Run is now full. We have 66 participants scheduled to attend.

You may still sign up for the Cabin Crawl, however due to the logistics of moving large amounts of people through small rooms, that may have to be limited in size as well.

I will announce a date and time on Facebook and the Dis Boards once all tastings have been finalized so as to avoid a conflict.

I added one player from each host stateroom to the list. If the hosts for each room do not wish to participate in the Poker Run, but only wish to attend the Cabin Crawl, please let me know.

I was thinking the same! I remember organising the 2010 one and we did like 20 people and that was hard work.

The only one we have done before broke the crowd into smaller groups, with the "hosts" in the first group. The hosts stayed in their cabin when that first group got to their cabin, welcomed each group that came thru, and joined the last group to see the rest of the cabins on the tour.

That sounds like a good option! This way they still get to take part but in an easier way!

As a room host, I'm hoping the plan will be to have the tour on the first sea day, which is before the cabin starts to really look lived in! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I agree that's probably the best option (although just to point out there is a Palo group brunch on the 7th so it would be good if we didn't clash with that from a very selfish point of view)

I'm happy to split as it would save on weight!
