Tink38- So sorry you're feelin down in the dumps. Where were you before Katrina? Seems lots of people are dealing with the after effects in ways they never imagined. Just keep checkin in and I'm sure you'll find something to make ya smile. Matter of fact, maybe this will do it...

Look everybody, It's Tink in a Drink

Melly Mel Mel: Yep, gonna have to try your approach. Seriously, I have been know to hang pictures of me at 18 when I could eat a Snickers for breakfast, chilicheeseburger and fries for lunch and a whole pizza for supper and still manage to lose 5 lbs. just walking across the room on the fridge door for motivation. Back then, I complained about being TOO skinny. Man, those were the good ole days. But a white terry cloth size 4 will work too.

MelonMom: Now, I don't recall ever sayin' I couldn't bust a move. Cuz you know I can. I've been known to bust a move or two. Hence my tag. I just can't bust a move and watch TV and do somersaults back and forth on a 14' long step. All at the same time. I do have limits, ya know.

Okay, now I gotta go cause my DH is yellin for me to get my tail in there and pay some attention to him instead of my "internet buddies". Yeah, he's not as romantic as MellyMan or Melon's Man. No massage oil and no drawing of the bubble bath for me. Instead, he wants me to come watch a show with him called "The Man Whose Arms Exploded" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah, it's a documentary. That makes it even worse. On TLC if you're interested. Maybe not.

Night everybody.

LALA - Love you, babe.

Thanks so much for responding to my post. Love ya/Mean it. No more words for me here.

Okay, so my son just hissed at me. Lovely.Going nite nite, I think. Hugs and kisses to all!

Hey folks! Hope you enjoyed the videos from today. I think those things are hilarious! Partly because I can't stand the kind of...are you ready...crap that these TV preachers put out. Some of them are good. But most of them are, well, pretty stinky. Some of them literally.

Anyway, Tink38, I'm not sure what to say with this situation. I understand relationships with in-laws - trust me. Some of my issues even go to my own parents. But sometimes our spouses are put in postitions to choose particular steps. We certainly would not agree with all of the decisions they make. Sometimes they make the decisions without even realizing the effect it might have on others in the family.

With your situation, there's a service in our (United Methodist) Book of Worship called the Blessing of the Animals. In that service, people are encouraged to bring their pets and have them blessed as a part of a worship service. Cause let's face it. God made them too. With that, I have often done a memorial service for pets. When someone lets me know of a pet dying, I always offer doing a memorial service. It's not near as big as a funeral, by any means. Usually involves me going to the house and asking the family to recall special memories they have of their pet. And then praying much like I would at a human funeral.

I can remember one family specifially. The lady was like 90 something and her son, approaching 60 something, lived with her. There were all kinds of issues with it. Suffice it to say that the son moved in with the mother after divorce to help take care of her. He had a dog that died. He had no children. I went to the house and did what I described above. We prayed and that was about it. They were very touched. Perhaps you and your family could do something similar when the inlaws leave.

As far as your anger goes toward your husband, that is unfortunately a part of marriage. We get mad at each other. Just ask Rhonda! hee hee. But part of the process is forgiveness when decisions are made that we might not like. It doesn't come overnight. Whoever said that Forgive and forget was the way to go was crazy. And y'all don't be decieved - that is not in the Bible. The closest I have found that comes to that is when it says that "God forgives their sins and remembers them no more." There is no commandment of forgetting. Forgiving, yes. But not forgetting. I have a scar on my arm where Greg stabbed me in 12th grade with a pencil - mostly playing - I got the girl, he didn't. Anyway, that pencil mark is still there. I forgave him years ago. But I can assure you that if I'm ever in a room again with Greg and he has a pencil in his hand, I'm going to watch him.

We can forgive folk when we feel that they've wronged us. Sometimes, however it takes time. Time to work through the pain and grief.

The other side of it is, if the dog bit your husband, it very welll could bite a child. And I gotta admit, if some dog bit my little Wesley, I won't be thinking about forgiving it. It would be done for.

What I remember about the first time I went White Water Rafting is the trainer people saying, "This is not a ride at Disney World. There are no braces or bars. You fall in, you will get wet. You might even drown. Yes it's going to be fun, but you have to realize that you need to be careful."

Sometimes that happens in life. We have to be careful. Everything isn't fantasy. It would be great if it were. When a dog bites, its dangerous. Even if our inlaws don't like it. Even if it makes us sad. If a kid at your child's school bit your child. Wouldn't you want to make sure your child stayed as far away as possible from the child that bit him/her?

I'm not trying to push you to accept that your husband was right or wrong. I'm not trying to tell you that your feelings of anger are wrong either. I'm just trying to help you see both sides of things.

I am certain God understands when we get angry. There is evidence in the Bible of every emotion any of us have ever felt. I don't think God condemns us for those things either. He just gives us a better way. Love. Love calls for forgiveness - even when we've been wronged. Love calls us to be tough when someone else is wrong. Love calls us beyond the attitude of who cares what you do, I'm only out for what I want.

That would be the advice I would give. And I only offer it cause you asked where I was. Otherwise I would simply let you come in my office and cry and scream and cuss if you needed to.

And I post it in the general board in stead of a private message because I think that often all of us need to hear some of this. And maybe, just maybe I won't be censored.

Blessings everyone!
Mark

By the way, thanks for all the comments. It's nice to be noticed here. Nuff said.

You just need to cut and past the part that is in brackets- {QUOTE=Whoever} but the other plain kind of brackets to start a quote and /QUOTE in brackets to end a quote. Or you can cut and paste those parts because the start quote thing is at the start and the end quote thing is at the end.

clear as mud, no.

Here, try it on this post. Also you can leave off the =whoever part and it will quote but it will not say who said it first.

Just thought of this one:

Mel is going to kill me tomorrow, isn't she? :rolleyes1 LYMI

Just in case it is not clear, I made that quote up. :rotfl2: I have a new DIS skill!

Man am I playing with fire tonight. :furious: I am not feeling too well. Might be strepsi for me too. It is the cold medicine talking.

Now this guy is freakie :clown: Who uses that in a post?

Tink,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. My dog is getting up there in years (almost 13), and sad to say, is not long for this world, so I have some sense of what you are going through. At times like this, I always think of a quote I heard or read somewhere about dogs: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." For some reason, it always makes me smile. Have a good night.

I'm 37. 37!!!! That's a lot older than you. You are definitely younger. To prove it I'll give you a little test:

1. Did Star Wars and Elvis Presley's death occur BEFORE you were born?

2. Did you ever have a pet rock? Mine was named "Rocky". I was very creative as a child.

3. Remember platform shoes?

4. Ever played "How many kids can we cram into a Telephone Booth?"

Let me know how you do...

1. What is Star Wars and who is Elvis??? j/k Elvis died 2 years before I was born, and so did Star Wars
2. Never had a pet rock
3. No platforms for me either
4. What's a telephone booth? No really I never have and we didn't have them where I grew up

Hey you could be my sister, 10 years is NOT that much
I have zero brothers and sisters

Tink I am sorry for your loss, right after I starting dating my soon to be hubby they had a dog and it bit me in the face, not bad but everyone got upset and they put it down. I think that I was more upset than them. I know how you feel. It'll get easier every day.

Haley...you are cruisin for a bruisin girl...

Mel, I finally posted my date, did you see it

Dang Mel, you're old! I'm only 34! Star Wars happened, I think after I was born.

I did have a pet rock. I painted him green, though I don't think he had a name.

I remember paltform shoes, but only in magazines. I can assure you I never owned any. Though I was in a rock band in high school. And yeah we did rock. Pretty hard. I can sing, by the way. My church folks say that if I was younger I could win American Idol. I don't believe them though.

And no, I never played how many in a phone booth. We were too busy studying in high school to play foolish childish games like that.

hee hee hee. yeah right.

Blessings!

Oh, and by the way, I finished my trip report tonight. It's on the Trip Reports Board. Y'all go check it out. I'll be spending most of my DIS time over here now. Not on the community Board. I still protest the "Who ate bread for breakfast" threads. Just on this post. With the cool people. Cause I fancy myself as cool every once in a while.

At least I get mentioned by the really cool people. Mel, Ally, Zzub, Lala, gaDisneygirl. They're the cool crowd. I'm just the short fat kid that everybody tolerates. Though I have lost like 9 pounds since Ash Wednesday. So maybe I won't be the fat kid anymore. I'll just be the one everybody thinks is a friend. LOL! I have no idea what I'm talking about. It's after midnight. And I still can't sleep.

Blessings everyone!
Marky Mark

I can't sleep either and I have to be at work early in the morning. You think I would be tired after a three hour class on art history, but nooooooo
here I am sitting here watching MASH and lookin at this thread.

I would like to fancy myself as being cool, but I don't think that it's working that well. I haven't written a trip report yet because I just don't think that I am that darn funny.

Although some of the things that go on around here on a regular day would probably make some people pee their pants.

Tink, sorry about your loss. We had an epileptic dog too. Unfortunately, he got out the gate one day and we never saw him again. We called around for him at the local shelters and whatnot, but we knew that he wouldn't last long without his meds...

Hugs,

I know this is a doctored photo, (clearly) but it really was me, and it was a really bad photo. By the way, did anyone notice a theme with my blue sweater? This happened to be the very cold week of Feb 5 to Feb 12, 2006

Oh Yeah, MAELSTROM!

good morning everyone!
I've gotta stop catching up on this thread before my morning java - I couldn't find it today, not even in my subscribed threads. My first thought was, of course, that it had been deleted, my second, showing my low self-esteem, thought, is that y'all picked up and moved and left no forwarding address...just like my parents did to me 12 years ago (sniff, sniff)
ok, just kidding about that last part...gotta get coffee...oy, I've gone off the deep end - just call me lil' grumpy squeak squeak

g'morning.

I'm off to do some mind control...ummm....teaching...today. Will catch up with all you happy hooligans tonight.

Hey, I got 1,000 views on my trip report :cool1: ...not much compared to the masters, but I was pretty impressed with myself. I'm giving me a dancing nana for it! (close your eyes Mel!!)

Later, dudes!

One more thing...

Mark, I sing, too, and totally get your Idol reference. I'm older than Mel and not nearly as Locklear-esque, and my friends and family think it's terrible that I'm (wayyyyyy) past the age limit to try out. I think it's cuz they love me and listen to me through a rose colored hearing aid, but 'tis nice to know they think so. 'Round these parts, I'm quite the karaoke Diva!

Also, I loved what you said to Tink...you are Da Rev, and I so wish I could go to your church. They are lucky to have you.

Tink - Here's wishing you a happier today!!

I'm out...really...just wait and see if I'm not! :goodvibes

Marky, I'll fill you in on a secret. Ya ready? My dream was to go to school at FSU. Shocking, I know! I visited the campus when GA Southern played them around 15 years ago. Hey, you're old! You were probably in school then right? ;)

My family went to the game and I just thought the campus was so awesome. I got chill bumps when Osceola came out. However, being that I'm middle-class, out-of-state-tuition costs kept me in GA, so there went that dream.

I actually didn't learn to like UF til I moved to G-ville. My first day at work someone mentioned Spurrier and I said "who"? They almost strung me up. They are some obnoxious fans! :teeth:

Depending on what year it was, yes I was there. Marching in the band - hence my screen name by the way - we were the WORLD REKNOWNED FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY MARCHIIIIIIIIIIIINg CHIEFS!

I played trumpet.

So yeah, you probably saw me march and didn't even know it.

Can you hear the little dolls singing and moving like robots? "It's a world of laughter a world of tears..."

And Ally, FSU will always be better. (That's a shot to help lilygator come out of lurkdom!)

Blessings!

Thanks for the whole message. And thank you for posting it. You're right - we do all need to hear it. Your message answered a prayer for me this morning. I'm going to go cry now.

You ARE a blessing!
