We need a little respite and I was going to do this yesterday, but life got in the way.
Raise your hands if you have ever been to the Jersey shore. OK, raise your hand if you have ever been to a beach. Much better. Well the Jersey shore is a hopping place during the summer. Not so much during the off season. We went to the beach on Thursday. Beautiful sunny day, around 75. My dear friend, Pooh, asked me to soak up some sun for her. There were 100s of parking places. Two guys surfing and a few people walking on the promenade, that was it. DH and I had lunch at one of my favorite places. I had a crab cake, hummm, and he had a burger and fries. Me iced tea, him a beer. Life was beautiful.
Background info I dont tan well. More like a lot of freckles that eventually run together. It takes all summer and is never really good. I am a fan of 45 sun block, it is my friend. I am also a big fan of denim. LOVE, LOVE my Levis and a denim shirt. I am a simple gal, very low maintenance. Want to go somewhere, I am ready in 10 minutes, including sitting in the car and waiting for whomever. Plus my car trunk is equipped for anything. ANYTHING. I was a girl scout I am always prepared. I own a foodsaver, you know what they are, you watch infomercials. Actually we own 2. I am a little compulsive. You can put anything in those little bags, pack flat and come out fresh as a daisy. Love that thingy.
I am getting off track but you all expect that. This is why I cant be on a sitcom; I am a mini series, or an epic. This is really a 45 minute experience. It will take me 3 ½ hours to tell it. More background info. This part is important. What we were wearing, really what I was wearing. DH khaki shorts and a Big Dogs shirt, cause he is the Big Dog. It was the one that saysIts 5 oclock somewhere, the button down the front one, not the t shirt. He likes those shirts, a lot. Me My favorite Levis the well faded, fit like a glove ones. A denim shirt (kinda already knew that though didnt you) and a bathing suit top underneath. Just in case the beach was empty and I could catch some rays. You will never see me in this outfit. That top is reserved for our pool or a beach in Europe, where people dont know me. I am a middle aged woman. I dont think people really want to see my skin. Just not appropriate. But I was living on the wild side. I do that sometimes.
More important info. I am really OK looking. Normal, no real glaring defects. Not beautiful, but attractive, in my own sort of way. In my younger days, many thought I was a Debra Winger look alike. You know her, from that cowboy movie with John Travolta, or an Officer and a Gentleman. Really, I am not kidding. Everybody thought so. Have you seen her lately? Everyone gets older. Enough of that.
Any way, once again I am OT. I am a long time married. Very secure in my own self. But, no one ever makes inappropriate advances at me. Well, no men really. But that is another story. Keep on track people, I am telling a story here. I think I wear a sign that says Dont bother. Or they respect my hubby, even strangers. Who knows? Anyway, it just doesnt happen. I am cool with that though. I think I am cute and who else really matters? Right?
Now, the purpose of all this is to let you know what happened at the beach on Thursday. Everybody still with me?
I will be back later to let you know.
