Ya mean yurrrr a CAR?

Part 2

Everybody still with me? Good!

DH and I decide that this is a good day to just enjoy the peaceful aspects of a nearly deserted beach. We park the car, pop the trunk and pull out 2 chairs, the satellite radio boombox, the Ipod, and DH’s clipboard with his beloved crossword puzzle and a pencil.

He parks himself very close to the promenade and I hike down to the water. Really people, if you have ever been to the Jersey shore you know that it can be a hike. I wanted the exercise. Plus I love the sounds of the waves and the solitude. There isn’t a lot of solitude in my world, so I tend to enjoy it when the opportunity arises. I park my beach chair and relax for about 5 minutes. Then I turn my chair around so I can see DH. I like him where I can see him. I worry about him a lot. Plus I have my phone if he needs me. We talk a lot on the phone, even when he is just in the yard. It is what we do. But I can see him so all is good.

Now – I am going to tell you a story from my perspective – than what really happened. Got it.

I am enjoying the beach. Immensely. It is so rare to have an empty beach. So peaceful. I have the Ipod stuck in my ear. Garth Brooks – love that man. I have one eye on DH. He is listening to the satellite radio. We are big music people. He is doing his crossword puzzle. He calls me to ask me about a clue. He does that. Just know we have a lot of minutes on our cells. Two elderly gentlemen join us on the beach. Probably around 78 to 80. They have 2 chairs and binoculars. Sit down about 10 feet from DH. I see the 2 guys talking, getting settled in. They start looking through the binoculars at the water. Pointing to each other. I actually get up and look out at the water. Figure there are dolphins. Don’t see any.

Decide that there is really no one around so I am gonna catch as many rays as possible. Got the Levi’s rolled up. Stand up and take off the shirt. I don’t unbutton people. Just don’t, ever. Take it over the head. Always. See the 2 older guys pointing again. I look around. Nothing. They start talking to DH. He starts looking at the water. He gets up and starts talking to the guys. Good. DH is a talker and now he has friends. I am happy. They are probably exchanging war stories. DH was in the Navy, Viet Nam twice. He loves to talk to WWII vets. He will be happy all day. I think, anyway.

They are all laughing and smiling. Now DH is looking through the binoculars. They are laughing and smiling. The old guys are patting my DH on the back. Passing around the binoculars. I again get up to look at the ocean. Nothing. What are they looking at? I think about calling him, but decide to enjoy the fact he is apparently having a nice conversation.

This continues for about 20 minutes. Laughing, handshaking, back slapping, passing around the binoculars. I swear I looked at the ocean 40 times, saw nothing. Men!!!!

I have no idea on God’s green earth what they are finding so amusing. But DH hasn’t called me for 20 minutes so I am very happy. Me and Garth are having the time of our lives.

Ok sun time is over. I can’t be out there to long. The freckles will become blotchy. So I get up, dip my toes in the ocean, geez it is cold, slip shirt back over the head, fold up the chair, and start the hike back up the beach. Whew, lots of commas, love the commas.

Part 3 up later.

Part 3

After the 3 mile hike back to the promenade (not really people, I exaggerate) I walk up to my DH and the 2 older gentlemen. I am a friendly kinda person too, so I say Hi. DH says “This is my wife, hot, sexy, stripper on the beach, with a tattoo, mother of my children, I call her Lola” No really he calls me by my name. Old guys are all smiles and shake my hand, a little to long for comfort really.

They say it is a pleasure to meet me, blah, blah. DH gathers his stuff and we hike to the car. Really it is not a hike. It’s about 25 feet. See I exaggerate. But before we leave DH gets another couple of slaps on the back, handshakes and a couple of winks. What is with these guys? I am thinking that between the 3 of them they are sharing one brain cell. Geez, there are birds, boats and dolphins everyday at the beach. The surfers weren’t even that good.

Plop everything in the trunk and hop into the car. I say “What were you guys looking at?” He says “You”. Huh????? ME??????

Yeah, they started talking about the hot girl on the beach. Offered me a chance to look at her through the binoculars. Of course, I looked. It was you. Then you bent over about 30 times and took your shirt off and they thought it was great. They thought I was the luckiest guy in the world. I thought it was funny.

ME - Why was it funny that they thought I was hot?????? WHYYYYYY???? Explain yourself Ricky???? I think I am hot, in a low simmer sort of way.

Him – Cause really honey, there was no one on the beach. No one. Competition was zero, zilch, nada. Sorry, but there wasn’t much to look at, not even dolphins. Today you were the Queen bee. You are a hit at the nursing home. Sorry. Want me to bring you back tomorrow.

OK – so the moral of the story is – there is no moral. Obviously. Just wanted to tell you I went to the beach. And got a little sun. And 2 old guys got a thrill. And cause DH really loves me we stopped for ice cream on the way home. I had 1 scoop of chocolate chip mint on a sugar cone and he had a chocolate vanilla twist.

Everyone feeling distracted. My work is done. Got to cook now. Later gators!

GOTTA COOK HUH??

brownies again I imagine....

after all, it is Sunday

Just keep that sweet DIL away from the pan

I fear it will damage her sweet little brain...(I am reminded of myself when I read about her...odd isn't it??? I bet shes CUTE!!)

Ok, I would like to say something that probably won't mean much to all of you in the end, but it is just my observation. I have been somewhat of a "lurker" for awhile but it is hard to keep up. I have posted on Zzub's TR and on Mellhh's newest TR but never recieved any responses. I just figured that maybe I did not "fit in" with your strommer group. I am OK with that. What I have noticed throughout my reading, however, is your amazing bond with one another. I have never been a part of any other cyber site so I am not sure if they are all like this, but you all seem to have really formed a wonderful friendship. I personally looked forward to the end of a hard day to log on for my little "get away" on these boards and even though I never posted on this particular thread always enjoyed the reading. You guys (and girls) made me laugh, even though I did not "get" some of the jokes. Isn't that what life is about? We all lead our everyday lives, some have it harder than others, but in the end we are all the same. I love the way something would be so funny and then your strong faith would come into play. You all support each other so immensely. It is amazing technology in this day and age (wow, I am not old, just an old soul, hehe). Really take a look at this----people from all over the COUNTRY conversing over a website. That is pretty special. Do you really think all of you would have met otherwise? Anyway, I am getting away from myself. My point is that no matter what happened or happens, you all seem to be very special people in each others' lives and I would hate for that to end. It is really sad that "big brother" is always watching but from what I can tell you guys have a strong bond and will find a way. Thank you for the entertainment and good luck to all of you. Friends like that don't come around everyday so be good to each other. I know you will.
   ---that's for mel. pixiedust: and that :thumbsup2

POLYMOMO-- what's this about NOWHERE MISSOURI?? (enter smilie with a raised eyebrow) I am in the "big city" with the big arch (no, not the golden ones) :p

Wowza....I take a couple of days off from parking my fanny in front of the computer and yikes.

Hi everyone... you know you are all pretty darn cool. That was confirmed after going back and reading what I missed. Of course I am majorly confused, but thanks to Mel and her musings...I am here with some really cool beans people! Mel, here is a sweet little shout out to you - thanks for being the supercoolhotmamafunnyascanbemaelstromerthatyouare!

Yesterday I started my marathon day at the ball park at 9:30 & didn't get home until 2:30. A bird pooped on my shorts (ick) at the first game and at the second game I spilled my son's nasty nacho cheese all over my shorts. I was lookin sooo good, not.
Have a super Sunday people!

I just wanted to say: if you don't immediately feel like you are part of it, don't worry, one day you'll be. During many weeks, I posted some messages here or there, and never really got any reaction on my messages. And then, suddenly, I became Mel's rich European DisFriend (that should be oh-so-broke instead of rich!) and I now feel already a little more part of it!! :cheer2:

So, don't only lurk, post once in a while!
