Question for you all about the free dining. I wasn't going to bother, since we were only going for the weekend, and I was planning to rent DVC (which I assume negates the Free Dining opportunity?) But now, it looks like we'll be staying 4 nights. Might it be worth paying for an extra night (even tho we won't use it) to get the free dining? I should've prefaced that with another question...it does require a 5 night stay, right? And what if I want to buy APs? Can I still do the free dining or does it have to me the whole "Magic Your Way" package deal? Am I stupid? Should I just call guest services or reservations or some other place? :confused3 HELP!

Figure out what it would cost you to buy the MYW package and get free dining AND THEN what it would cost you to rent DVC and PAY for the dining ($39 per day per adult) It might come out the same or cheaper. I'm not 100% sure but if you do free dining don't you have to buy at least a 1 day park hopper ticket?

Morning all -
Busy day at work. It will interfere with my DISing today. Sadly.

So, a couple of notes before I run:

PP - I have no idea what you're talking about here :confused3 . I guess I need to review my posts:

GaCat...Thanks for your help. I haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about. World and glasses? Apparently I've had too much Nyquil.
Pongo - love the shoes. I would wear the second ones, except I would fall and break my neck, and then my family would have no income, since we all know cops get paid even less than public servents like me.

In general - I'm over Paris, too, but think she has an incredible voice for a 17 year old. I think she just needs maturity and direction. Catherine - loved the second song, except she sang the whole thing on her knees, which bothered me a little. I like Taylor, but don't think he'll win. Elliot is probably my favorite of those left, but I think Chris will win in the end. But I am plum tired of Chris' rough voice - it really did sound like it was going to go last night. He always sounds like he's yelling at someone to me. :confused3

Rhonda - hope you and Wesley have a fabulous trip. We all wish we could go with you. I think.

Horsey - good to hear from you. I need to send you a PM. I think I'll do that today.

Haley- I really am going to add the GG number to my ressie today. I promise.

I need to go answer the riddle first though.

Maelstrom!!!

Maelstrom!!!

...Is a Fastpass!! Which, sadly, I may actually have to USE this weekend, if it is as crowded as I am afraid it might be... Say it ain't so!!!

But...ummm...Amy...you THINK?

What, are all of you scared of us because we stalk face characters? We don't stalk all of them. Only the ones who are really, really nice to Wesley. This one knows all about us though. I have a CONTACT, who lets her know when Wesley will be there. Oh, all right, our contact is the girl's mother, okay? And that's really all I can say, at her request. Unlike OUR Wendy, who was about to leave and didn't care if they tried to fire her for welcoming the advances of her stalker family, this girl has plans to stay at WDW for a while. So I can't give her away!!

I was thinking that I might be able to upgrade the MYW pass to an AP. That would be the best way, I bet. It would be great if we didn't have to do the full 5 nights! Of course, as PP pointed out, it still may work out cheaper to rent the DVC points and eat/buy passes on our own. I just would never do the dining plan (well, PAY FOR the dining plan) with our kids along, as they eat nothing. But since this is just the two of us, I figured it would be a good chance to try out some of the nicer restaurants. Because renting DVC is so reasonable, though, it may still work out better to go that way. I really want to stay at the WL this time, as we never have before, and I've heard such great things.

I'll let you all know what I find out! Thanks again for the advice.

Hey Horsegirl you're in my hometown. Let me know if you need info on anything! :)

And if all of you want a real reading treat on these boards go to the DVC board. They argue about size of the room, which resort is better, did enough people say Welcome Home etc. Lots of great people there but some take life way too seriously.

Hmmmpf. Well I KNOW I want to be there with you, but didn't want to presume to speak for others.

And I need the class on the art of stalking CMs. I would like to become proficient. Sadly, I think the first step is to buy an AP which I have yet to talk my husband into.

And I would consider throwing myself shamelessly at you and beg to come too, but we're hosting a huge appreciation luncheon here at work on Friday that I MUST attend. Bummer.

Can't wait for another Whirlwind Tripper TR Rhonda - we are demanding our rights as vicarious experiencers to your life. (Experiencers, is that a word?)

Amy

Rhonda, I don't really need your help. I just figured it had probably been wayyyy toooo long since somebody'd said that to you.

Hey, I feel your pain...I get "Think of Laura, but laugh don't cry" way more often than I should.

Anyhoo...Just wanted to say that I'm gonna be at WDW this weekend, too! It's a small world after all....

Hey Everybody-

Okay, last night on AI, did Paris get bleeped?

Was I imagining that? Have yall already talked about it and I missed it? I agree she should go home tonight. I think she has an awesome voice for a 17 year old as well, but there's something about her that bothers me. Chris did awesome on Renegade and I loved Taylor's second song. Loved Catherine's second song as well but I agree with GA, she needed to be standing up. :confused3

HORSEY!!!!!!
(((((((((((((((((slap)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Have a great time in New York. Hey, take some pics and come back and do a mini trip report. Yeah, but just make sure you post it here. Not over there. :teeth:

Rhonda- Hope you and Wesley have a great time. I'm jealous. Just don't go stalkin' any CMs, k? Cause the white van is already taken.

I cannot BELIEVE how I've gotten hooked into this show. I used to mock it, somewhat mercilessly. Now I'm actually considering missing book club tonight to watch it. We don't have DVR or TiVo or the like, and our VCR is broken. I'm pitiful.

I agree about Paris. She's got a great voice, but she doesn't see to have her own groove. Every number she's somebody totally different, and to me that means she doesn't know herself well enough yet. Course it could just mean she's versatile, what do I know?

Love Taylor, I'd invite him to my party.

Chris is soooo the man. I will buy his CD. I will go to his concert. I will put up posters of him in my room, like a 14 year old. Ok, that might be a little creepy-dee. But I heart Chris!

Well, we technically began our stalking career before we had APs. But you DO have to go a good bit. We've gotten so good that we can look at a face character and tell you all the other characters we've seen that particular person portray. And when. And where. It's sad, really. A sickness.

And speaking of sickness... you don't think one of your kids might be "sick" again on Friday? You're an attorney~use your brain, girl!! LOL!!

Okay, seriously, for a sec. We have been incredibly lucky in many of our character meetings. For instance...the two pics in my siggie... we just happened up on these 4, with no one else around! We happened up on Aurora in France once (Dec 04), with no one around... and what made it memorable was that she had the hiccups. When we saw her this last time (Feb 06), we asked her if she remembered when we saw her in France and she had the hiccups. Had she not had the hiccups, she likely would never have remembered our meeting. The meet and greet with the Cinderellabration cast... that was another Magical Moment that just "happened". And because the cast does so few of those (comparatively speaking), they tend to remember their visitors a little more. A couple of tips: try to make your child stand out. Somehow. Be creative! Also~last seatings for character breakfasts ROCK!! Most of the time, you end up with the characters all to yourself. Go find characters during parades or fireworks. Seriously. We talked to Ariel in her grotto for 15 minutes during Wishes. Another night, we went to Toon Town during Wishes, and found all the characters (princesses, Minnie, Goofy, etc) dancing in the middle of the County Bounty store. And it also helps that we typically go during off times. (If there is such a thing at Disney these days...) This weekend, I'm guessing Wesley will get a LOT less interaction/attention, just because of the crowds. But we'll still have fun!

Well, I was obviously talking out of an oriface not my mouth, since you have a "click here" above that links to something, which is what I was trying to explain, which I obviously didn't need to explain.

ignore me. Bad crack.

So nice of you to check in from NY. Hope the weather down there is better than it is here. Still raining and cold...yuk! NOT good touring weather. I did make it to the airport last night, and now have my e-tix in hand for the meet!! Now, if I could just get some points to rent.....

Question for you all about the free dining. I wasn't going to bother, since we were only going for the weekend, and I was planning to rent DVC (which I assume negates the Free Dining opportunity?) Oh, couple more comments....Wobin, thanks for stopping by and CONGRATS on the new gk-to-be. Can't remember who did the 12 steps (JW, maybe?), but they were hysterical, and so true. SNAP, I can't believe you got that song in my head! Curses!!! Of course, as Rhonda advised oh-so-long-ago, I could always start singing "Copacabana", as that always wipes out anything else!!

If you stay at DVC you can add the dining plan at full cost for stays of 3 days or more. You do not need to purchase the 1 day tickets.

Now I have a question. Is it really cheaper to stay at DVC, or do you really mean you get a better value? I always look up the number of points need for our stay and multiply by $10 (which is the going rate to rent points, right???) and it comes out to WAY more that a regular room at the same resort. So what am I doing wrong? Walk me through this. I am afraid to ask on the DVC boards :rotfl: I really want to stay at DVC at some point. My hope is to addict Mr. Silly to it ::evil grin

I'm so gauche! I jumped right on in and blabbered about AI without saying a proper Mornin' to the Maelstromers!

My bad, sorry!

Anyway, good morning. Frickles, be CAREFUL over there. Take some asbestos perhaps.

It's too too quiet here, I need to go see what Sydney is up to.

Morning P.Pooh!!! Nope, no job yet. I want to go to the meet so badly, but a job would just put a kink in my life of leisure! ;) I wish a had a Disney loving husband. He really likes Disney, but you know he doesn't loooove it....so he isn't too gung-ho about handing me a credit card so that I can go and have a vacation with my imaginary friends. I still have a few months to work on him....and to maybe actually save (gasp) some of my money for the trip!!!!

I agree that Paris needs to go. Chris is my favorite.

Oh my Frickles - we are Sista's and live spooky parallel lives. I could have written this. I don't even mention you guys to DH - I think he'd have me committed. He doesn't get it. He doesn't really do computers - only at work when he has to. At least you can drive to the meet. It's a titch to far for me to drive - unless Mel would share in the task.

I agree with the las seating thing,we did this for Dinner at the Land in EPCOT there was just 1 other table and us. My 4yr old DS wanted nothing to do with the Characters for the 1st 2 days we were there and then we went to this dinner Mickey,Pluto, Chip and Dale couldnt have been nicer, Connor didnt want to talk to them and I told Mickey he is being shy around them, so Mickey threw me out of my seat and sat down next to him and started playing with him and Chip and Dale came over and started throwing rolls at each other he had a blast, after we left we had to go buy him his own autograph book so he could get his autographs. For the rest of the trip I'd hand him his book and off he would go.
Folks the CM's Rock and work hard. I have never had a problem with any of them in my 30 yrs of going to the park, I think most(not all Im sure some end up in bad moods or have off days we all do) problems come from a sense of entitlement on the guests part.

One of the photos of that day:

Disney has taken over my Development in PA.

If you can not go to Disney, bring Disney to you. Lets turn the whole World into Disney. The World would be a much happer place!

Ed - I'm listening. What kind of soap is that? I need some.

Wonderful story about your son. I love to hear about that kind of magic.

I hope for special magical moments for our trip, but do not expect them. I think just being there will be magical enough for my kids. (Well, until Jamal takes a picture of them melting down!) I also think there is little hope for my son with the characters this year, since he'll only be a little past 2 yrs old. But my daughter will hug anyone/anything and is not afraid of costumes!
