Once when I was like 14, I went to a conference at a university, where kids from a bunch of different states came. At the dance, this guy asked me to dance. In the middle of the dance, the group from Texas burst into song, singing "Deep in the Heart of Texas". My partner was part of that group. So there he is, bellering, "The sage in bloom, is like perfume....*clap,clap,clap,clap* Deep in the heart of Texas". And I was HORRIFIED. I was so embarrassed. Now I wouldn't even think twice, but at that age, I actually thought everyone was always looking at me. I was so self conscious.

Now I see DD12 (almost 13) like that, where she is embarrassed about everything and thinks everyone is looking at her. Makes me so glad those days are over for me. I'm sad my kids have to go through it though.

I have been glad to see my son is not self conscious like I was. I think my youngest might be, though.

Deep in the Heart of Texas is THE ONE song that EVERY Texan WILL sing and clap to at ANY time (even if only in their head!). :lmao:

Now I'm really going!

I'm okay. Lots of walking and my foot hurts, but some fun shopping!

I got a bunch of little socks for dh's brother's baby due in October. I have a plush Easter basket I bought that looks like a giraffe. I'm going to roll them up and put them in it. She can set it on his dresser.

I also got a onesie on my best friend's stepdaughter's registry for her first baby due in Jan. I got some matching socks that she didnt' register for but were cute. The socks and onesie had lions on them, so then I bought a little toy you can clip on to a stroller or car seat with a jingly crinkly lion.

We bought a laptop but it was out of stock in the store, so dh had to go pick it up at another shop.

We went to the party store and got Luke a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume on sale (3 left and the lady behind me grabbed another), and Halloween candy. I also let Nick pick two things for his room.....he got a wall grabber that is so spooky and a package of spider webs.

What you been up to?

Wow! Have you been a busy bee today or what?!

What's your nephew's name going to be?

We just found out last week that my nephew and his wife are expecting their second child. They have a one year old boy already.

We haven't even begun to think about Halloween yet. We have too many October birthdays in our family, including mine.

They are not sure on a name. She wanted Luca, but of course I have Lucas. She also loved Nicolas, and Sebastian.............all of which I have. She's not real happy with me. ;) She wants a name that will also be a name in Spanish, like all the rest of the kids, but her dh, my husband's brother, wants names like Kevin, Bradley, Brandon, Kyle.

They do both like Aidan and Nathaniel, but apparently not enough to decide yet.

Are you still here, Paige? :confused3
Sorry, little guy wanted his costume on while I was typing the last post. It delayed me.

I love the name Aiden. I think it's so cute!

OK I spent way too much money at Sams then at Publix. Still no laptop though :furious:

DH went with me and talked me out of one at Sams. He promised to buy it himself since I really dont know much about laptops anyway. I gave him 2 weeks max to have a laptop in my lap.

Later tonight, Im going to the lodge for family night. We meet every Sat evening and the ladies play hand and foot and the gents usually play poker. The kids all run around playing, screaming and crying......LOL. Sometimes we pack out the place other times it is nice and quiet.

What are your plans for the rest of the evening?

We're going to a cookout at one of our friend's house. :thumbsup2

Hey, Teresa! Long time, no chat!

We bought a laptop a few months ago at Best Buy. :)

Sounds like you'll have a nice time tonight! We were invited to a cookout at a friend's house. That's all we have planned. Oh, except laundry. I've been doing that ALL day...
