Bbgrizzle said:Once when I was like 14, I went to a conference at a university, where kids from a bunch of different states came. At the dance, this guy asked me to dance. In the middle of the dance, the group from Texas burst into song, singing "Deep in the Heart of Texas". My partner was part of that group. So there he is, bellering, "The sage in bloom, is like perfume....*clap,clap,clap,clap* Deep in the heart of Texas". And I was HORRIFIED. I was so embarrassed. Now I wouldn't even think twice, but at that age, I actually thought everyone was always looking at me. I was so self conscious.
Now I see DD12 (almost 13) like that, where she is embarrassed about everything and thinks everyone is looking at her. Makes me so glad those days are over for me. I'm sad my kids have to go through it though.
I have been glad to see my son is not self conscious like I was. I think my youngest might be, though.
Deep in the Heart of Texas is THE ONE song that EVERY Texan WILL sing and clap to at ANY time (even if only in their head!).
Now I'm really going!

She wants a name that will also be a name in Spanish, like all the rest of the kids, but her dh, my husband's brother, wants names like Kevin, Bradley, Brandon, Kyle.
