I was hoping to come back tonight to reply to everyone, but it's been ANOTHER one of those days!
I was on my way to work this AM, and got hit pretty bad by a big box/work truck (with one of those big grates attached to the back.) The two guys came over in to my lane and right in to me. I slammed on my brakes and laid on the horn, but the guy kept going. (It's raining on top of it, so that didn't help besides him not paying attention.)
The accident was right outside the police station, so I called 911 and they came out immediately. Thankfully, two people that saw what happened stopped as witnesses and another guy that was further back stopped to help.
My car is definitely a mess and I'm still shaken up, but I took away two really important reminders.
1.) There are still some great, caring people out there. I was shaking when they opened my door to pull me out to check on me, and one lady GAVE me her rain coat. I kept trying to give it back, and she refused. Plus, the other lady and man that stopped were GREAT. I feel very blessed that anyone even stopped.
2.) Even after the cruddy few weeks we've had, my personal beliefs are still so very strong. The wrecker said that I was the calmest person that he'd ever seen involved in a wreck and he'd been doing that job "a LONG time." It made me feel great that even though it seems like everything else is going wrong, I still have my strong center!
So now, I'm in a rental car until the insurance adjusters start working on what to do about getting my car fixed and the police report gets typed up (which could take another 3 days.) I don't plan on getting my car back any time soon. I'm hoping now that it's just going to be body damage, so if you pray, think good thoughts, or send pixie dust, please include me in any of that!
And, the thing that made my mom laugh (a few hours later, of course) even after getting a call that I was at the police station because someone hit me? The fact that I got to my parent's house after my dad picked me up from the police station and we picked up the rental, the first thing out of my mouth was...
"GUESS WHAT! My ugly little rental is from FLORIDA!"
